  1. Found out where Dale Stephens is hiding prior to PL's announcement! http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~3039171,00.html
  2. If we are not going to bring in quality, strong, big, young-ish players then we may as well use the deadwood that we already have in my opinion.
  3. Imagine the prices Chelsea will charge when we need to buy the final!
  4. I said the same thing on here the other day. Totally agree!
  5. See what I mean!? (refer to post #4492 on page 225)
  6. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11677/8390714/Paul-Lambert-plans-to-strengthen-his-Aston-Villa-side-during-the-January-transfer-window So Lambert says he needs to bolster the midfield. Like I said earlier, he knew Vlaar was on his way back. Personally, M'Vila would be the ideal signing for me.
  7. PL would have known earlier this week that Vlaar would be back in the squad for tomorrows game so he would not have had to panic buy a CB prior to the game. We need to have some faith in him. While we can question the ability of some of his signings we all agree that Vlaar and Benteke are the best players we have so not a bad start to his management here in that respect.
  8. I think we should sign JulieB in defence. Might cause a little bit of awkwardness in the dressing room but she'd scare the **** out of the opposing attackers and would be relentless when trying to make an impact!
  9. I agree and if its true that QPR are in for M'Vila then we should go the extra mile to sign him. Not only is he exactly what we need but it would be a psychological victory to beat a rival to his signature.
  10. Here's a thought: A lot of people are complaining on here about signing players from lower divisions, yet we were beaten by a team of 11 players from div 4! Although our players were poor, something also has to be said about the formation and tactics we employed so it was an all round lash up on Tuesday. That said, I know the league is our priority and I agree that too many players from lower divisions will not be able to hold their own week in week out in the prem. I am simply saying that game in particular had nothing to do with the quality of our players as any one of them would be a star for Bradford. It was down to poor tactics and poor effort by the lads. Having said that, I think we have enough lower league players for now thank you and agree that we desperately need some quality coming in. Unfortunately £10M is not enough to buy 4 quality players and we have too much deadwood hanging about on 40k - 60k per week that we could get a couple of million each for. So far this window, nothing has happened so I cant see the amount of business we need to do being done in the next few weeks. I cant see a way out of this in the time frame we have I'm afraid.
  11. Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is competing with LA Galaxy forAston Villa defender Richard Dunne, according to the Daily Mirror. Morning all, so another day of frustration begins... My thoughts so far: a) we need a new spine i.e. another big CB (possible a huge scandinavian for about £3M), a DM (M'Vila wold be lovely) and an AM with a bit of flair. 2) We have to keep behind the team & manager and keep making as much noise as possible like we did at Bradford. & d) I cant spend yet another day refreshing this thread and scouring the internet for a glimmer of hope while I'm supposed to be working (but no doubt I will).
  12. http://www.irishcentral.com/sport/Richard-Dunne-returns-to-Aston-Villa-after-five-month-injury-177715671.html If this is true then at least he would be able to take a medical soon! £60k is a lot of money to put towards a new CB's wages

  14. http://www1.skysport...ilippe-Coutinho http://www1.skysport...er-Luis-Cavanda According to his agent, Cavanda wont even be discussing transfers until next week so we wont hold our breath on that one
  15. Rennes have confirmed that M'Vila wants to leave according to the sky sports website http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11670/8388487/Rennes-concede-that-Yann-M-Vila-has-expressed-a-desire-to-leave-the-club
  16. Lol, was gonna say that myself but only got one post left and didnt want to waste it talking about someone getting their days mixed up..... DOH!
  17. I think it would be a good move all round. Lerner gets to show he is serious, Lambert gives the team a boost of confidence, the fans see a glimmer of hope and the player gets to show what he can do on a regular basis in a popular league. If it all worked out and he did will in the prem then we wouldnt be able to hold on to him but if hes with us for a year or so (helping avoid relegation and win a cup along the way) and we double our money then its very good business. Everyone at villa knows we need defenders and a defensive midfielder so im sure that if this did happen it wouldnt be the priority signing and there would obviously be more money available to fill those places too. If we sign a defender first i will worry that its our only dealings this window but if we sign coutinho first then i will be expecting 2 or 3 faces to follow. I hope it happens but cant see it if i'm honest. We live in hope. UTV
  18. PL has already stated that he's not a fan of the January window. I didnt realise he was this serious!
  19. Chill out guys, at least Julie is giving us some gossip to debate. If you dont agree with her comments then ignore them or simply state that you cant see it being true. There is no need to launch a full scale attack and question her sanity. I applaud her for standing her ground and standing up for herself when clearly outnumbered. I dont know if what she is saying is based on truth, fact, guesses or her own imagination but it gives us speculation to discuss while the sky sports feed is quiet regarding the villa. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we are within our rights to point out wrong information once it has been proved either way. Until then, you dont know for a fact that what she is saying isnt true so you are potentially in the wrong just as much as she is. Peace! In the meantime, i'd like to say well done to the people that made the game because the noise was awesome throughout the match. We have to keep behind the team and manager as we are the only stable thing left at the villa right now and they need us. If we turn on them, they will sink without a trace. UTV
