  1. Don't care what anyone says, the current score is a fair, accurate reflection of respective team performances. Yeah, **** ref, but with better ref I think score would be the same. We deserve to be winning because we're fighting our arses off. I know we're sloppy, but there's no lack of hunger.
  2. +1 It's been a frustrating second half, but we're holding our own. If anything, we're underachieving at the moment.
  3. Can't see that, not at all. This isn't last year. To echo Heraclitus, you can't step into the same stadium twice because both the stadium and the team will have changed.
  4. I see us bringing a lot of pressure to bear and working a powerful, fast Arsenal team hard. If we can keep our energy levels up and not get out-run, we could definitely get at least a point.
  5. We are kicking butt. This Arsenal squad is vibrant and powerful, and I believe they'll end up in 3rd this season. Remember, a very similar team beat Bayern 0-2 in the knock-out stage last March.
  6. Very grim. Wow. It's hard to believe we're reduced to such a limited option, but I guess that's business. Been there, done that. It's not ideal, but will used if push comes to shove ... Is there also an online service you can sign up for directly from Aston Villa?
  7. Hello all, Need some help, American Villans! Does anyone know what various options will be available for watching Villa in the USA for 2013-14? First of all, I don't have cable. I only watch TV through Apple TV or online. Up through the 2012-13 PL season, I semi-happily used Fox's terrible "Soccer2Go" or whatever it was called service to watch most PL games either live or recorded. It cost $20 a month, and served its purpose. You could watch this service on your computer, and if if you had an iPad, you could also push it onto your Apple TV-running telly screen. As you know, Fox lost its PL deal, and that's gone to NBC. Soccer2Go is pretty much over, and I have let my account die. Thanks in advance, all!
  8. To me, the yellow chest begins to look like a bib -- or the smocks worn by kindergarten teachers. Too infantalising.
  9. Perhaps a stretch, but Nîmes isn't too far at all from Marseilles, and "De Nîmes" is where we get the textile name?
  10. Yikes, turn that down. It's burning me eyes.
  11. I think you're right. I imagine that all the "don't cares" from Villa fans will actually sting many Baggie fans more than the yeses.
  12. Kone, Kone, and Kone. Also ... I realize he's actually, erm, French, but doesn't anyone know (or care) about Joey Barton's status? Will he stay at Marseilles? Is he going back to QPR? (Not that he'd actually be much of a help to AV.)
  13. I know that much depends on this summer's signings etc. -- and if Lukaku somehow miraculously stays, all bets are off -- but that all being said: I've got a hunch that a very bad season indeed awaits the Baggies next year. All the signs seem to be there, and their recent form only pours gasoline on the funeral pyre of a club that seemed, not so very long ago, to be rising and rising. Perhaps those in glass houses ...? And I voted yes, by the way.
  14. Please feel free to repair. Silly error on my part.
  15. A close call ... but it's minutes from being official. All I can say is that all the anxiety really sucked. I feel kind of shocked about it, too, still. Why did Villa have to go through all that?
  16. Not really. Having just won the FA Cup, the club has gone down in history. No one can take that away. Arguably better than anything the Premier League offers for their current individual players, too, realistically. All in all, a good result. Villa stays up and an underdog goes back to its proper place with a very nice consolation trinket.
  17. Told you. Never any doubt for me that Villa would be safe. And next year, you're going to be kicking arses up and down the table.
  18. The inferiority complexes of the rank-and-file Tesco bag fans seems to have been caught, like a contagion, by the players. There's no feeling of a team spirit there any more. Wroy was able to create a sense of "we're in this together," but that's long gone now. I don't mind Clarke and I quite like Albion, but I don't think he has the physical presence or aggressive attitude WBA requires. His very weakness invites disorder (hence, the Odemwingie fiasco, Olsson's disciplinary problems, etc.). I look at Steve Clarke and he seems about as intimidating as Brian McDermott. Nice guy though, but you know what they say about nice guys ...
  19. No problem being cocksure at all. Villa will not be going down, folks.
  20. But the thread is strangely addictive and entertaining, too -- and crazy-making. It's like a mad relationship you know you need to get out of, but it's hard to let go because the sex is great. OK, maybe not that good.
  21. Villa fans must live for a few more days in the Land of If. Cruel place, but it could be worse.
  22. Seems very possible. Would be disorientating for Cardiff tho.
