    I used to like you.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a given by far, but done right it does work but it’s got to have a runny yolk. Doesn’t normally get done right though, hence why people don’t like it.

An egg should not be on a burger. Close the thread.

Oh it totally can work and can be really nice. It’s just usually over cooked and/or has a ton of sauce with. The yolk should be your sauce basically.

  3. Mayo

    Gherkins

Odd fillings for the sake of it (chilli/pulled pork etc.)

Tomatoes and other veg that isn’t onion (lettuce I’ll suffer if it’s there but only because I don’t eat nearly enough veg. Never add at home though as involves buy lettuce).

Don’t mind a brioche bun but wouldn’t be a first choice.

And yeah why are some so tall now? You basically end up splitting it in half - might as well have 2 burgers instead.

Did do some burgers at the weekend with the co op beef rib burgers which are really good and have a natural bbq flavour. Burger, slice of spicy cheese (melted in the pan), fried onion and bbq sauce (not too much though). Crisped the bread in the pan to maintain structure. Went down a treat :D

  4. Was at Municipal Waste/Kreator/Lamb of God last night - was originally meant to be April 2020! The last of covid postponed gigs and was excellent. Felt like 3 years of frustration released.

Now just waiting for good old Napalm Death to come on stage. Nice to get back to normality properly.

I'd argue his intent to publicly speak about his client while deliberately concealing his vested interested might fall foul of "You do not mislead or attempt to mislead your clients, the court or others, either by your own acts or omissions"

But he's not his client; certainly not at the moment so he is currently a lawyer speaking about a current issue. There's no duty to disclose who may have approached you to represent them. Indeed it may be arguable to say he should have kept it quiet given it is making enquiries.

To be honest, because of his own ineptitude he was found out anyway and if Hancock still instructs him after this then it shows the quality of the case. Its like Trump/Alex Jones hiring the absolute worse lawyers because literally no one else would take the job.

It's almost certainly a violation of the Solicitors Regulation Authority code of conduct, but I don't know if that's taken anymore seriously than other industries' attempts to regulate themselves.

SRA takes itself very seriously and does a lot to bring those foul of the Code of Conduct to be sanctioned/struck off by Tribunal etc.

Not sure this would technically breach the Code though. Firstly he has been approached, not formally instructed to act so has no duty to Hancock as he is not his client per se ("asked to act"). Therefore he wouldn't have been lying if asked directly about that. Could be arguable that bringing the profession into disrepute but that will be subjective and the extent of it and if he didn't outright lie then may struggle.

Could definitely be construed as unethical though that he had sought to not included that information, especially when he has been asked to appear on "TV" to defend Hancock. I mean it would not allow the "audience" the opportunity to reflect on any potential bias he may have.

So yeah, illegal? Probably not. Unethical? probably.

Alien Weaponry stole the show for me, absolutely amazing performance and so much energy in the crowd. Gojira were a bit milder after that, but they do put on a pretty good theatrical show - their music lends itself less to a lively floor, yet I still somehow lost a shoe and had to take refuge in the seats for the last half hour

Was tempted to make the trip up but too knackered from work. Glad you had fun. Did you catch Employed To Serve as well?

Sad news, but I'm amazed he kept going for so long. I saw him in 2009 and he was clearly really struggling on stage then

Indeed. His 3 stooges syndrome appears to no longer be working.

Was coming on to post this. 4 years after it was meant to first happen, such a shame for him. Whilst it sounds like he intends to do 1 off shows, I would be very surprised if he manages this.

  11. Watch the first 2 episodes yesterday (without spoilers but having played the games) as wanted to get a couple of episodes in. They were excellent, excellent TV and a wonderful interpretation of the game with Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal sublime in their respective roles.

And now I've just watched episode 3. Wow. What an episode. Completely forgot you were watching a zombie apocalypse show.

I pretty much explained it. Grant Holt didn't leave us with a monster contract

To be fair, aren't you judging him on his full time contract rather than loan? If he was that poor during his loan spell we wouldn't have signed him surely? Whilst there is no doubt he has been poor for a while, he is by far nowhere near the worse loans we've had.

    Top:

Tammy & Mings were both fundamental for the promotion (El Ghazi & Tuanzebe were pretty good for it as well). Grabban/Johnstone were good in the last Bruce season. Reina was helpful for staying up. Going back a bit further Keane & Milner definitely were good loans and helped a lot.

Would probably go with Tammy, Mings & Reina mainly because they contributions were critical for the success of the club.

    Worse:

Barkley at least had a decent couple of games but drifted off massively. Drinkwater clearly terrible both on and off the pitch. Bolasie was literally a waste of space. Others were largely forgettable without looking at the full list (forgot that we had Cleverley!).

For me Drinkwater and Bolasie were definitely the 2 worse. You could pick a lot for 3rd, largely forgettable players.

This was Theodore from about a week ago, his eye has healed up really well, its still clouded over so he is fully blind but he is back to being his old self again so he's going to be fine, such a shame though, he was a proper handsome boy, now he looks like a proper scrapper.

If it helps, one of our cars had to have an eye out last year (melting ulcer, horrible to look at) but cats adapt really well to having 1 eye. After he had healed a week or 2 later he was bouncing around like there’s nothing wrong with him and apart from him physically only having 1 eye you couldn’t tell. If anything he’s become more of a moggy since and I’m sure you will see that very soon if not already!

Do they do something with the seats or is it an all seater gig? That'd be bizarre to me for a metal gig even if it's prog!

I don't mind a bit of DT, but like you I think after a couple of hours I'd be willing it to end. Some good stuff in their catalogue but when they're busting out the 10+ minute tracks, nah thanks

All seated - it was a tad odd but seen them, Yes and Wardruna at Symphony Hall and generally it is a good show. At the end of the DT set I was VERY glad it was all seated...

Mind you, when Tool played NEC arena (or whatever its called now) in May they made that an all seater but they are Tool so generally do whatever they want.

First one of the year tomorrow, Trivium at the academy :)

First one for me isnt until 18 February - Dream Theater at the symphony hall. I have to say not particularly fussed as caught them the last time they were there and I was a tad bored by the end (it was a double set as well). However sister wanted to go and I needed an excuse for a Christmas present... at least they have a support act this time (never heard of them though, Arion?).

One of us is misunderstanding the other here. Maybe it's me.

My post was a sarcastic take referencing the probable reason that the UK doesn't bother to open asylum processing centres that people can actually use (i.e., the government has absolutely no interest in making it easier to claim asylum) - those centres could possibly be in France.

France has got every motivation to cooperate with that, we'd be doing all the work to set it up, and it'd get people off their hands and in to ours.

It is genuinely the easiest way to sort the problem out and I understood it that France is willing for us to do it. It would mean people wouldn’t have to cross the channel to claim asylum and therefore money doesn’t go to the criminal gangs. Win, win. The Rwanda deal money would probably pay for it and then some. Would be nice if Labour actually announced a policy akin to this.

Except those that like to ensure there remains a problem so they can justify whatever nonsense they spout to solve the problem.

Its a bit of a mix of the 2. There's not really a true allegory to the UK, because the Speaker in the US is the de racto leader of the biggest party in the house, which isn't necessarily a representative of the government (like now - the Republicans aren't in power but they will have the Speaker role), whereas here the Leader of the House is a government representative as a cabinet member. They have powers which mix the Leader of the House role and the Speakers role insofar as directing debate goes, but without the UK Speakers most public role as the moderator of the Commons.

Different systems, roundly similar roles in limited or redirected ways.

    That makes sense. Cheers :)

  18. 30 minutes ago, Chindie said:

Its similar to the Speaker in the Commons, in that they have the power to decide what is put to debate, but they didn't do the 'refereeing'of the debate our Speaker does, and they are not impartial as our is supposed to be either.

In actuality the role is wholly partisan and essentially acts as the head of their parties efforts to direct the house as their party sees fit. Which is currently quite difficult for a Republican because that party, rather like the Tories (but more so) is split into old school bastards and outright whackos, who whilst generally on the same side of the debate in any situation are also miles apart to the extent that getting them to agree on anything is like herding cats.

Isn't more akin to the Leader of the Commons role (currently Penny Mordaunt, formally Rees-Mogg) as they put stuff to debate rather than the speaker who in essence is the referee.

Whilst it needs to be sorted to get the country to run, it is VERY funny to see this bite the GOP in the ass. Play with fire, you're going to get burnt. I don't really know why they have taken such a dislike to McCarthy (well, there are many reasons, just not ones I suspect those objecting to him hold) and not too fussed to look into anyway. I suspect that the GOP might need to put a different person forward, either one the Dems will vote for or the "far right" of the party will agree to.

  20. 0 points last year. Going to change a little and make it a pseudo wish list: -

    Donald Trump

    Boris Johnson

    Nigel Farage

    Vladimir Putin

    Piers Morgan

Sadly I think only 1 of those is a real possibility but the world would be a far better place without these lot :)
