It might be, it's just my impression, I have no evidence, other than the wording and the result it gave in my one tiny area. It said "Fylde has a big Tory majority - we need everyone to vote tactically to win back this council!"

The "win back" is the clue, too, because if Independents win, then the Council hasn't been "won back" it's N.O.C. So the win back suggests it's talking from a Labour perspective. Labour can't win back as it's fielding one candidate for two available seats. I'll be voting for two Independents, one of whom I know a bit - anything to get rid of tories.

Ah OK. Yeah wording could be construed that way but think they might mean “take away from” given the context.

As Brum isn’t having elections this year could really tell for local seat. I know we have Tory local (Erdington) and 2nd place is Labour and with a Labour MP suspect they will be the obvious candidate.

Just typed in my location and the answers it gave suggest it's a Labour tool, not really neutral. The correct answers would have been Independent candidate 1 and 2. The answer it gave was Labour candidate and " unclear".

Ah fair enough, thought it was an independent one so that isn't great. Shame but presume there are others out there.

So my MP Julian Knight has been at it again.

Says he will stand down at the next election.

    Go now Julian, go now.

You might still get your wish

    Tucker Carlson leaving FOX.

    Thoughts and prayers.

The fact that he has left now rather than giving notice etc. is rather good. Suggests unplanned/big issue (but I could just be reading too much into it...).

Knowing our luck he will end up on GB News....

That would be an even more amusing outcome of an investigation.

To be fair if there is to be an investigation it is quite possible it is done already. The USA are usually quite hot on government leaks etc. so if it was a genuine leak she has done (and its not like she's a quiet person) it would have been looked at pretty quickly I imagine. Therefore the fact that nothing has been done with her so far leads me to think (shockingly) that this is a load of horse sh*t.

If he were sacked, he'd never be able to hold a ministerial position in the future.

Resignation, though? See you in the next Tory Government!

    Unscrupulous words removed.

Would be lucky to still be an MP next election. Has less than 3,000 majority and lost votes last election to Lib Dems. With an Anti-Tory swing inevitable at the next election I am not sure how he would survive (unless he has jumped ship to another constituency).

Whilst this would have been better to drag on and cause more harm, the fact that he resigned rather than sacked by Sunak still doesn't look good and feeds into the indecisive narrative against Sunak.

Edit: Also, not sure if sacking prevents future ministerial position? Where have you got that from?

They'd have reported them all if it wasn't for those lefty judges

Damn Lawyers and Judge, you know, following the law. How dare they!

I think this is what the Tories want. They want the legal challenges and they want to lose them. They can then push to come out of the ECHR and potentially look to make that a big part of their 2024 election manifesto.

This does makes quite a lot of sense to be honest. It's utter rubbish though and as usual will make everything worse.

Something is going on,  some MSPs are removing any links to the SNP from their Twitter Bios.

One of them has disappeared completely.  Maybe it's going to fold (The SNP) if that is possible ?
They lost a lot of members in the last month.

They might be having a deserved Bernie Madoff moment when it all comes tumbling down.

Probably going to split in 2. From what I understand (mainly from this thread/VillaTalk generally) it is a "broad church" primarily based on the desire for independence. Politics apart from that stretch all across the political spectrum and once they gained independence/lost momentum it would likely lose support/split anyway. Suspect that is what is happening now but don't think it will fold completely.

  9. So who else of you lot has voted John Terry on the BBC poll? See he is currently 2nd favourite after Nagelsmann, shame they don't have Gerrard on the poll :D

Anybody been to one of the Burger & Sauce establishments around the Midlands? A new one has just opened up in Sutton and I'm hoping to try it out tomorrow. It sounds like it could be fantastic, but also like it could be pretty awful.

If I do go and they ruin my burger I will of course report back immediately.

Been ordering from the castle vale one for a little while and had the same reservations. However actually alright I’ve found. I’m always a fan of being able to customise easy but they don’t over complicate it too much - all standard stuff. The chips definitely need the sauce combo things they do.

Saw signs that they are looking to expand/franchise/invest so I suspect that it has been working out for them. Hope it was alright for you.

    I used to like you.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a given by far, but done right it does work but it’s got to have a runny yolk. Doesn’t normally get done right though, hence why people don’t like it.

An egg should not be on a burger. Close the thread.

Oh it totally can work and can be really nice. It’s just usually over cooked and/or has a ton of sauce with. The yolk should be your sauce basically.

  13. Mayo

    Gherkins

Odd fillings for the sake of it (chilli/pulled pork etc.)

Tomatoes and other veg that isn’t onion (lettuce I’ll suffer if it’s there but only because I don’t eat nearly enough veg. Never add at home though as involves buy lettuce).

Don’t mind a brioche bun but wouldn’t be a first choice.

And yeah why are some so tall now? You basically end up splitting it in half - might as well have 2 burgers instead.

Did do some burgers at the weekend with the co op beef rib burgers which are really good and have a natural bbq flavour. Burger, slice of spicy cheese (melted in the pan), fried onion and bbq sauce (not too much though). Crisped the bread in the pan to maintain structure. Went down a treat :D

  14. Was at Municipal Waste/Kreator/Lamb of God last night - was originally meant to be April 2020! The last of covid postponed gigs and was excellent. Felt like 3 years of frustration released.

Now just waiting for good old Napalm Death to come on stage. Nice to get back to normality properly.

I'd argue his intent to publicly speak about his client while deliberately concealing his vested interested might fall foul of "You do not mislead or attempt to mislead your clients, the court or others, either by your own acts or omissions"

But he's not his client; certainly not at the moment so he is currently a lawyer speaking about a current issue. There's no duty to disclose who may have approached you to represent them. Indeed it may be arguable to say he should have kept it quiet given it is making enquiries.

To be honest, because of his own ineptitude he was found out anyway and if Hancock still instructs him after this then it shows the quality of the case. Its like Trump/Alex Jones hiring the absolute worse lawyers because literally no one else would take the job.

It's almost certainly a violation of the Solicitors Regulation Authority code of conduct, but I don't know if that's taken anymore seriously than other industries' attempts to regulate themselves.

SRA takes itself very seriously and does a lot to bring those foul of the Code of Conduct to be sanctioned/struck off by Tribunal etc.

Not sure this would technically breach the Code though. Firstly he has been approached, not formally instructed to act so has no duty to Hancock as he is not his client per se ("asked to act"). Therefore he wouldn't have been lying if asked directly about that. Could be arguable that bringing the profession into disrepute but that will be subjective and the extent of it and if he didn't outright lie then may struggle.

Could definitely be construed as unethical though that he had sought to not included that information, especially when he has been asked to appear on "TV" to defend Hancock. I mean it would not allow the "audience" the opportunity to reflect on any potential bias he may have.

So yeah, illegal? Probably not. Unethical? probably.

Alien Weaponry stole the show for me, absolutely amazing performance and so much energy in the crowd. Gojira were a bit milder after that, but they do put on a pretty good theatrical show - their music lends itself less to a lively floor, yet I still somehow lost a shoe and had to take refuge in the seats for the last half hour

Was tempted to make the trip up but too knackered from work. Glad you had fun. Did you catch Employed To Serve as well?

Was coming on to post this. 4 years after it was meant to first happen, such a shame for him. Whilst it sounds like he intends to do 1 off shows, I would be very surprised if he manages this.
