  1. Lot of evidence that very senior people in business have psychopathic tendancies.

We used to have a director where I worked who was a nightmare, reduced some staff to tears, lots of good people left because of this person who had no empathy or understanding of the business.

Not saying Heck if is like this, but "no smoke without fire"?

This is one of those historical "facts" that is now seen as propaganda.

Many say that we were never in danger of losing the Battle of Britain.  Our Spitfire production was very good.  Most of our pilots that bailed out returned to their units to fight again.  Whereas German pilots became POW.  Our radar network was superb (for that point in history) and Spitfire production quickly increased to sufficient levels.

Had the RAF been in danger of being eradicated they would have moved the airfields from the SE to the NW which would have made them relatively safe.

The German decision to switch to bombing cities at night was because they miscalculated the number of fighters we had left.  Due to a blunder in paperwork they mistook the number of remaining Spitfires for the number of remaining fighters.  That's one hell of a mistake.

At the risk of straying off topic...

Not sure about this as propaganda I will need to do some research...Hitler did mention in a speech about if one bomb falls on Berlin then thousands will fall on London

Issue with moving spitfire bases further away from the South coast would have been inviting the Germans to fly over much of Southern England instead of tackling them on the coast and over the channel before they reached London

What was the fuel range of a Spitfire?, if they were based in Manchester (the NW) its a lot further to fly to the Channel/Southern England to head off the Luftwaffe, and wasn't the amount of ammo that a Spitfire could carry limited to a few seconds burst before having to land and re ammo?

  3. What would have happened if Nazi Germany had defeated Russia in WW2?

What would have happened if the US continued to sit on the fence to see how much money they could make out of WW2 before being drawn into war?

We would have lost the Battle of Britain if Germany continued to bomb our airfields instead of switching to bombing our cities after we accidentally dropped a bomb on one of theirs

Where would the Villa be this season if we had no injuries?

Might as well host trials at this rate and maybe get one of us to fill in for a few games lol

I used to play footy but it's been a while but I don't mind helping us out in our injury crisis.

Only problem is I am 66 in June and will probably be knackered after the pre match warm up... 😊

  5. If we move VP from Aston to say the NEC will we change our name like Wimbledon did to MK Dons?.....seeing as we won't be in Aston anymore....perhaps this will be another one of those fan feedback things like the debacle of the badge, terrace view etc etc

Will this then give SMA the green light to claim the city as their own...?

  6. Last year the insurance for my oldish toyota yaris runabout cost 220 quid for me and the missus. Direct line said that premium is now 570 this year 🤬

I know stuff goes up in price but this increase is crazy....needless to say I have some considerably cheaper quotes

I hope they don't study the Newcastle performance, to gain guidance in this game.....I too fear it could be tough.

We will have to be competitive to gain Authority and influence in the game....they won't stand off us, like Sheff Utd did.

I am sure that every manager will look at Villa and how to beat us, they will be using Sheffield utd when they were at VP and obviously the Newcastle game at VP....

  8. I drive up via A14 and M6 from Cambridge, and get off at J5, and make my way to Star City.

Free parking and a 25/30 minute walk to VP. The walk is ok as long as its not raining, there are always fellow fans (home and away) walking the same route, so even if its dark its a safe route (in my experience).

Can be a bit of traffic from Star City to J5 of the M6 but its not that bad.

I used to park at the school (King Edwards?) at the top of Holte Park but getting out to the M6 was dreadful, so don't use it anymore.

  9. With a football fans "head" on

It's such a waste seeing such a talented footballer reduced to a robotic bit part player now.

When he played for us he was one of those rare individuals that when he had the ball people stood up out of their seats as he was such a good exciting player for us.

I tend to agree I think he will be off to the Saudis jawdees soon (or even the Saudi league  if it's only money he is interested in now).

I wonder how his career would have turned out had he stayed with us? Is he the type of player that fits in with Emery's team....?

I think Emery is pretty limited in options at the moment, and tactically that makes him more predictable.

If you’re an opposition coaching team doing your homework on Villa, it’s pretty obvious who’s going to be starting atm, and what the plan is going to be.

That would be different with another starting striker or winger, with Buendia available to cause mayhem in midfield, with Pau available to spring attacks from deep, and so on.

For that reason, I’m not sure much of the criticism is justified even though I completely agree we’ve dropped off badly in recent games.

    Completely agree.

Other managers look at the opposition they are due to play and adjust tactics to suit. We are a bit too predictable at the moment and easy to play against, but we don't really have much option due to so many of our creative players being injured...

  11. We all go on about Emery looking in depth at how other teams play, but yesterdays result was Howe applying the same effort in setting up his team.

Managers of teams that are due to play us will look at results where we didn't do well e.g. Sheffield Utd, Chelsea, Newcastle etc and look at why we were nullified and set their teams up to stop us. Expect the same from almost every team we play now as they look to have found a way to stop us. Newcastle did this well last night, it was only when we were losing 0 - 3 that we decided to up the tempo that we started to trouble them and by then it was far, far too late.

Its up to Emery to work out plan B, C, D etc and respond to this.

Its the slow build up that sometimes annoys me, it allows the opposition's defence all the time in the world to reset players back into position, I wish we were a little bit quicker and more incisive than we currently are.

Luxury....I used to get up a 6am on matchday, make a bucket from wood, in Aston Hall park, with my bare hands, walk to the nearest well in Nechells, and walk back to Villa Park, avoiding vicious gangs of thirsty wild dogs, to make a cup of tea.

and If you told the kids today....they wouldn't believe you.

    Tea...?

You were lucky.....we used to dream about having a cup of tea.....

    Etc etc 😂

  14. Man city, sky and Vars have ruined prem league football for me...

Trouble is I cannot have sky and VARs in my top 10 hated clubs but they would be in my list of top 10 hated things of football....

    Vars

    Man city

    Diving

    Klopp

    Sky

    Cheating

    Man Utd

    Inconsistent referees

    Stockley park

Inconsistent application of rules of the game (handball, offside etc)

Any list that doesn't have Man City just cannot be taken seriously.

In fact, any list that doesn't have them 1st doesn't make sense to me. Even SHA are (whilst a load of scumbags) not a state owned bunch of cheats with entitled fans, sweeping up every trophy available with illegal funding.

    1. Man City

    2. Man City

    3. Man City

    4. SHA

    5. PSG

    6. Man United

    7. Real Madrid

    8. Chelsea

    9. Liverpool

    10. Coventry

Oh don't forget to add man city to your list ! 😉

  16. Years ago I was in Malaysia and wandering around the street markets that seemed to consist of every other stall selling replica shirts.

As I looked through one of the racks filled with the usual sky scum 6 and Barcelona etc etc, I asked the stall holder "have you got any Aston Villa shirts?"....

He replied "we only sell good teams shirts here!"....

Mind you this was back in 2016....so he had a point I suppose 😊

  17. It will be worth paying the exorbitant price increase of next seasons ticket to see Tyrone walk back on the pitch at VP for his first home game back at the Villa...

How much has Rooney cost them I’d be interested to know, 3.5 year deal they’ll have had to pay up, plus the back room and coaching staff he will have brought in (assuming he did bring some in), you’d think given their financial woes it’s going to hamstring them somewhat further.

    Let's hope so...

  19. Imagine this...

Last home game of the season v liverpoo

Whoever wins this game, wins the league

    We destroy them 7 - 2

No dodgy VARs for either side (ie no contentious decisions that liverpoo and the media use as an excuse)

Klippity klopp in meltdown on the touch line

Worlds media aghast at what's happened

    A proper good referee

Liverpoo supporters leaving early to the song "is there a fire drill?"

BBC/sky having to admit that Villa are now Premier League champions

We then spend the next decade winning every trophy and title legally, fairly and playing by the rules of the game.

Small Heath relegated, deducted eleventy thousand points and Rooney signs a 10 year contract

Anyone want to add to this fantasy?
