Has Israel intimated what their detailed and budgeted plan is for after they’ve extinguished Hamas?

Highly industrialised military nations always have an exhaustive post conflict plan for what happens once the bombing stops.

No way would we have had the positive results in Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq without that plan, so will be interesting to see Israel’s.

Did we have a "positive" result in Afghanistan?, Libya is still a mess and its has taken years for Iraq to "recover".

I am fairly sure that "Highly industrialised military nations always have an exhaustive post conflict plan for what happens once the bombing stops", is a logical thing to state, but of all the recent conflicts there doesn't appear to be any evidence of a "plan" of what comes next after the bombing.

The bombing and killing is the easy part what comes after is far more difficult to achieve especially long term.

  2. I always lookout for the Norwich score, did my apprenticeship in the 1970's up in Lowestoft and went to quite a few Norwich games during my time there.

Certainly easier than trying to get from Lowestoft to VP !

Cannot stand Ipswich though despite living 45 mins away from there, never forgiven their fans singing about the IRA just after the pub bombings in Brum.....different times I guess, thankfully.

But I still don't like Ipswich

I’ve not disputed what Hamas has done, as echoed by many it was a terrible day. I just maintain that Israel could’ve handled this better and that currently they are going too far imo.

Just playing devils advocate, but just how do you think a country should react if a group of terrorists slaughtered 1400 of their civilians many of them women and children?

  4. I went to a tough new comprehensive school and we had a new boy start, one of the well known bullies asked him is name, the new boy replied in a posh voice "my name is Amsley Van Heidenburg".

The bully repeated his name mimicking his posh accent and then proceeded to beat him up....

Probably Mr Van Heidenburg is head of some big hedge fund thing in London or locked up in Broadmoor as a nut job

As for the bully, he is probably head of some big hedge fund thing in London or locked up in Broadmoor as a nut job

  5. Lots of interesting discussion and points of view but I am still waiting for someone to suggest the possible answers to the following questions.

What was the objectives of the massacre of Israeli civilians by hamas?

What did hamas hope to achieve?

What outcomes did hamas expect from this?

What did they think was going to be the Israeli response?

  6. I think anyone who is against euthanasia has never experienced the trauma, heartache and despair of a loved one slowly dying due to some horrific painful, terminal condition or having alzheimer's where they eventually forget even how to swallow...

  7. Sadly saw my old man slowly die of cancer, he never made it to 71. He was larger than life, a great dad, I mean he introduced me to the Villa after all!

But to see him bed ridden, totally unaware of what's happening was an awful experience. There was no way he was going to get better....you would not keep a dog or cat alive in that condition.

I would hate to be a burden to my family as no doubt he hated it as well.

If I could chose the moment I snuff if it will be just after the Villa do a lap of honour with the FA cup, i can then slowly nod off, for good !

    It's all sounding strangely familiar:

    - Formerly elite England player with limited/unproven track record as a manager
    - Hired because the CEO has a connection with them
    - The club believes that this new manager can take them on to 'the next level'

Big Question: How long until Rooney bans ketchup?

And asks his players to look him in the eye......

  9. One thing that has got me wondering is that as Gaza is surrounded by Israel, the sea and Egypt, and as there is apparently a blockade by Israel from the sea, how is Hamas getting all these missiles that they indiscriminately launch against Israel?

The only way they can get that amount of missiles, arms and ordnance in, is through Egypt, is that right?....

  10. I disagree it is about religion just taken to the extreme.

Close, my take on it is a tool to justify conflict behind ideology (I.e. religious extremism).

  11. Didn't the Trinity have to re-built as there was significant structural issues with it? I read somewhere it was therefore more cost effective to knock it down and rebuild - but just wish Deadly had not allowed the awful modern facade to have been built instead

  12. I still think our badge should say "Aston Villa" on it somewhere, especially if we are trying to expand marketing and brand overseas.

All the sky 6 have their name on the badge, look at the wolves badge however, show that to anyone that is not that interested in footy and they have no idea what it is or stands for. Whereas almost everyone will have heard of liverpoo.....helped of course by their name on the badge

  13. In the 1960's my Dad bought my sister a bag from the Villa "shop" (a small hut), with this character printed in blue on a claret background.

That bag is probably worth a fortune now......or maybe not

  14. Many, many years ago (this was late 1960's) I used to live near Filton and my Dad would take me to a suitable spot near the runway and watch concorde taxi and all but take off during testing.

Now I live 40 mins from Duxford and there is one of the early Concordes as a non flying exhibit where you can go on board. Apparently the Concorde arrived before the M11 had been built, but now the M11 has sliced a bit of Duxford runway off, leaving the runway too short for Concorde ever to take off again, leaving Concorde effectively stranded.

Highly recommend Duxford for a day out, even a non flying day.

Bl##dy hell I just realised I sound like an aviation nerd......

I wouldn't credit their fans, given what I've seen of them waving nazi salutes last night and apparently singing neo nazi chants.

I was too far away to hear them and even with my glasses on I couldn't see what they were doing 😉
