  1. Some are saying that Chelsea were very good - well we let them hassle us, bully us and tactically nullify us.

We had a bad day at the office and didn't play well when we had to play better.

Some are saying that with EMI still in goal we would have won - not sure to be honest.

Would we have won that with Mings, Yori not being injured, Kamara, Ramsey and Douggie on form ? - of course

It is what it is, 1 point instead of 0, play badly and not lose.

All this guff about spuds, games in hand means nothing unless you win them, they have some tough games against teams who still have something to play for...

Emi is the conductor of both our defence and attack.

Without him at the back to start the attack we were paralyzed.

I understand that, but as we saw when gresford played for us, we should not keep depending on one player...

  3. Any idea when tickets are going to be announced?

Cannot believe the Semi final is coming round so quick its next Thursday, I am also overwhelmed by all the media attention of the Villa being the only English club flying the flag in Europe.......(not!)

  4. I am being dragged along tomorrow night kicking and screaming by my wife to see her all time favourite band Jethro Tull at Cambridge Corn exchange. Jethro Tull is not my cup of tea, but its live music and it's got to be better than watching telly ..........isn't  it??????

  5. VAR ruins football. Winning goal against any of the sly 6 in a semi final in the last seconds is always going to be ruled off...

Sorry to say that no way is a Coventry v man 115y final a more attractive game worldwide than yanited v 115y........all those plastic fans will generate lots more €£$

And that's all that matters these days 😖

  6. Can't help thinking that if the club involved was Liverpool, man 115y, or arsenal etc instead of Aston Villa, then the decision by EUFA about the goalkeeper being banned for the first leg would have been different......

Nottingham Forest have announced 24% average increase for season tickets.  Also youth tickets only up age 17 rather than age 19.

Liverpool seem to have the smallest increase so far of 2% and that’s caused their fans to protest 🙄

24% average increase?....... That is awful, I hope that doesn't to Villa for next season as I am out to be honest

  8. A review...

I have now finished the first book. After a very slow start the book got more interesting and readable, I think the first half of the book was just scene setting though.

Anyway my favourite character by a long way was Tyrion, probably the only one with humour and believable. I was getting very confused with the family trees of all the characters and it did help once I got to the end of the book and found the appendix! Why was this not in the front of the book? This novel was made more difficult to follow by having several characters using their names and then occasionaly referring to their "nicknames". Define their nicknames at the beginning and use it throughout the novel would have made it easier to read.

Over description of armour and colours of clothing etc, I skipped most of this everytime.

Another couple of whinges, the printed maps do help but need a magnifying glass to read them, 2 other maps are shown and seemingly have nothing to do with the first book. After thousands of years fighting medieval style wars, why has nobody come up with advances in science like gunpowder etc?, that fact alone I have found very annoying with this novel. I mean they can all manufacture steel and fancy swords, but have stuck with bows and arrows, maces and lance's for hundreds of generations.....

I think I will read the next book though...

  9. I have been reading comments this evening from opposition fans congratulating Stockport County on their promotion. I have to say it is a refreshing change from the Premier League and the plastic fans slagging each other off.

Stockport County, sounds like a real football club!

  10. Whilst the results have gone in favour of sha today and of course given them hope for survival, I am sure its not over yet.

It would be wonderful to see them thinking that they are safe now, and then be relegated at the end of the last match of the season.

However would we sooner see them as the perennial turds that don't flush every season, or be a big fish in league 1 and possibly do well in that league?

Fully agree with this. As a fan base I think we're quite old-fashioned in some respects.

I can agree with this as an almost 66 year old! Yes it is more exciting to see a winger running down the wing and running at the defence, (only to probably lose the ball), but it is getting out of date this style of footy tbh and us fans need to catch up with the modern game. Its totally different game to the 1970's when I were a lad...

The problem is we the fans have had years of rubbish football and are starved of good football and demand almost to be entertained.

I stand (back of the upper Holte), and really tried to watch how the Villa play these days, Villa seemingly tippy tapping the ball about, but watching carefully it's all to do with drawing opposition players out of position. Look at where this "new football" has got us under Emery and compare what we had before and the limitations of the "older style".

Yes it might not be so exciting to watch but we are winning more games.

  12. Got back at 0115 last night after the long drive back home to Newmarket.

This result has to favour Lille tbh. Shame we sat back and let in the inevitable goal, but I think the result was fair.

I enjoyed the game but once again odd decisions from the ref, maybe Ollie made too much of the "penalty" that's why it wasn't given, perhaps he should practice like Kane.

However I think Lille will have too much for us next week. Shame though but we are running on empty, have a hard game against arsenal whilst Lille can rest and prepare.

Interestingly, I've just read that Liverpool fans are protesting at a 2% increase in ST prices for next season. Spurs are increasing theirs by 6% with people vocally complaining.

I get that the pound cost might be different here, but it seems odd that all of us are exoecting much bigger increases and there is little, to no, real protest about it.

Also I read somewhere today that the Liverpool supporters trust had not be consulted by the club regarding the season ticket price increases. Sounds similar to the disconnect with Heck and our supporters.

Just watch Richards.  At 36 seconds in to this video you will see the lowest effort defending I have ever seen. He easily makes my all time worst ever Villa 11. He is a better pundit than a player though.

This is in no way an endorsement of Richards as a pundit.

Wow I remember that game, took my daughter to it for her first time to see the Villa play. We were in the middle of the upper Holte End, she still supports Villa even after enduring that spectacle!

Was that the game we were all singing to Lescott "it's a weight off your shoulders" ? Following some comment he made. Also at half time the song "your not fit to wear the shirt"?.....

This was 8 years ago......a lot has changed at Villa since those dark times !!!

  15. I have always thought that refs have "unconscious bias" towards the so called sky favourite teams. This is reinforced by some players getting in the refs faces throughout the game with no bookings for dissent.

Seen Villa players booked in the first 5 mins for an innocuous challenge whereas opposition players are foul consistently throughout the game with no punishment.

I have seen enough premier league games not just Villa, to see that there is some significant favourable decisions given to certain clubs and that there is no consistency.

If there is no consistency in decision making  by a ref and VAR, and making up or reinterpeting the rules of the game, then all fans should be asking ourselves "why is that?"...

  16. The way we are shipping goals recently we need to be winning 5 - 0 inthe first leg with 1 min to go, as if we concede in the last minute we could easily lose the first leg 5 - 6...

It's the clubs themselves that will vote for fines instead of points deductions. Like it or not Man City are good for the league, they bring in big names like Pep and Haaland and generate a lot TV money and interest. Of course fans don't see it that way but PL executives only care about money. If they can get money out of Man City, Newcastle in fines that's all that matters. The PL isn't about what's fair and right and sporting integrity, it's just about money.

And this is exactly why man ci€y will get away with a token fine (that they will find a nefarious way not to pay) and a slap on the wrist.

Whereas they should be relegated out of existence, but that's not going to happen in reality is it. This awful club is worth too much money to the Premier league...and that is what modern football is all about.....££££

  18. We should have had an extra 2 points after the debacle yesterday

We should have had 6 points off man yoo this season

We should have beaten Sheffield utd at home

    Etc

    Etc

Could have, would have and should have.....it always comes down to that, I hope we don't come to regret what happened yesterday...

  19. Only ever watched a couple of episodes as I dont have access to sky or HBO or whatever it was on.

However I am reading the first book in the series and the first half, approx 400 pages, is deadly dull scene setting stuff, hopefully it gets better.

I agree with some comments and complaints about the author explaining to the minute detail the colour of someones armour or flag etc, and it is pretty tedious to be honest. However, it is nothing compared to Tolkiens Lord of the rings novel, where the description of some hobbits clothing goes on and on seemingly for pages and pages of drivel....
