    Thor gone!

Sad as clearly true professional, but clearly needed moving on. A wee bit of a shock he has just been let go rather than waiting for a transfer.

Didn't see that happening. A transfer, yes, but being cut loose on deadline day is odd. It won't hurt him when it comes to signing for a new club as he'll be a free agent but I'm surprised we didn't look to grab a few quid for him.

That said, the devil will be in the detail of the "mutual termination". What did we pay or not pay him and what did he waive or not waive to bring about the severance?

I'm disappointed not to get him but happy for the Brentford fans, I think you'll get one of the automatics.

I don't blame the club asking big money, there is bigger money at stake.

Personally I'm a little annoyed at our feeder club getting ideas above their station.

It's like when the sous chef at a Michelin starred restaurant strikes out on his own thinking he's ready to swim in the wide, deep ocean.

Some keep their head above water in the chop,

    Most sink without a trace,

Brentford, you should know your place,

Because I think you're for the drop.

Pretty lacklustre deadline day for everyone really, apart from Watford getting Ismaila Sarr and the obligatory Spurs deals 2 hours after the window "slams shut".

And Carroll going to the barcodes. :crylaugh:

We could bring in MON as our DOF and sack off Suso, that would get deadline day more interesting.

Does it? I'm wondering if it stays open a little longer as we could still have players leaving for a couple of weeks?

That could go in their individual threads because it's players already here rather than speculative stuff on incomings.

He mightn't be that young but he seems to tick the 'hungry' box.

 I'm sure it's an illusion, of course, but that waistline does look like he goes for the "Hungry Family Box" option from the fried chicken shop. The one with the burgers, joints, strips, wings, nuggets several fries, sides and two litres of Coke.

Talk on the twittershpere is that the French striker is Wissam Ben Yedder. He was linked with ManUre a few years back.

Going by this picture it was when Ferguson was manager. He looks like a guy playing for an All Star team of retired footballers in a charity match.

Some (quite rightly), doubt whether their dinner will be on the table tonight, so talk of fancy dan Europa League signings is just beyond the pale.

Yeah, it's shocking. That lard arse has gone to the gym and I'm not sure she'll have my dinner on the table when I get home. She should move faster around the kitchen and it would also save on the subscription to LA Fitness. :crylaugh:

    The wind beneath my Mings?

Did I ever tell you that you're my hero

You're everything I would want to be

I can fly higher than an eagle

You are the wind beneath my Mings.

Pretty much. Or maybe Run like the wind, you are our Mings.

The lad that Brentford have signed as a singer is a serious talent.

So we can expect to see him on Britain's Got Talent warbling "Wind Beneath My Wings" soon?

It did look like it was a bad injury to El Ghazi, he’s tough, he’ll come back stronger

Hourihane would get dominated in The Premier League in my opinion, hence why we’ve signed 2 defensive midfielders

You don’f think McGinn will start after his heroics of last season? For me, our midfield will be McGinn-Luiz/Nakamba-Grealish

I said, "come on for" not, "come in for" re: McGinn. I'd agree your midfield will come to be those named in later matches, I'm just of the view that next week it will be the one that played today.

It's all about the week at Bodymoor, though, and how Luiz (whenever he arrives) and Nakamba settle and perform as part of the unit.

We look ready for Spurs now after seeing that Leipzig match, my team would be:

    Heaton

    Guilbert Engels Mings Targett

    McGinn Luiz Grealish

Jota Wesley El Ghazi (if fit, he came off injured against Leipzig)

Agree with that, in the main but with two changes.

The one is obviously El Ghazi because going by his shrieking he won't be playing for a while. It was a brief cameo but Hassan looked good there so he may get the nod.

Luiz is still in Brazil, AFAIK, so I'll be surprised if he gets an immediate start. He may not even be in the country by next Saturday, although he's apparently arriving Monday.

Similarly Nakamba. I don't think he'll start either but he'll maybe come on for Hourihane to help protect our four-goal lead and Luiz will come on for McGinn to keep the heat on a bamboozled and knackered bunch of Spuds.

Look we all know it's a risk. It's a massive risk. Chances are half the signings we have made won't live up to the billing. However, it was the best option available to us and it has been executed in the best way possible. The rest is up to the players, coaches and a bit of luck.

 All the more reason to buy shitloads of players. If we buy 50 then we should have a whole squad who'll live up to billing.
