The number of teams that are allowed to clatter into us at will but go over like a sack of spuds at the slightest touch is remarkable.

That's what happens when you ask your plays to run around at 100mph for two years straight. They're all ****.

Could be right. But that visual is entirely achievable on a shirt. My point was to counter posts that had said "it'll still look shit like the initial image when it's on the shirt", which just fundamentally isn't true.

No worries mate, always appreciate your expertise and insight.
So… you’re feeling quite positive about this new badge then? And the kits?
I'll wait until I've seen them

Are we considering this a leaked image as opposed to something fan generated?
I'm just going based on the way on-kit crests have been looking in the last couple of seasons. It could well be fan-generated but, importantly, it's plausible.

We can only comment on and judge what we see, is shared or revealed…
Revealed, yes. Shared, we have the choice to reserve judgment.
2 minutes ago, Jas10 said:that image is still ugly… regardless of whether or not it accurately represents what we are getting… and it’s been trademarked by the club… so there was “cause for concern”…
It is, yes. But looking at it with the context of the physical badge, the drop shadow seems to represent that fact that the lion is three-dimensional.
As you've said, it remains to be seen what the full execution looks like across all media but this new image is promising.
And colours are always a really difficult thing to judge on screen. I've got 3 top-notch panels in front of me right now and even the claret border of VillaTalk looks different on each.
And the paper bags thing was said tongue-in-cheek. We're all sometimes guilty of jumping the gun.

Concrete slab?!
That looks like a TPU badge, the likes of which appear on most elite level kits nowadays. Get up close to some of the shirts from the last World Cup. They were sensational.
An image filed for trademark is typically just a cover all sketch that serves as protection for various options and executions.
Reading this thread over the last couple of weeks, I've wanted to hand out paper bags for people to breathe into.
If this was the first leaked image everyone would be excited. But they saw the other one first so it's all doom and gloom.
They're exactly the same badge, but perspective is everything.

None of that. All problems weigh the same.
EDIT - I've just thought of that little phrase and feel like it should belong to a mental health charity or something. I should be doing something creative for a living...

Had to go get my prescriptions. The pharmacy is visible from my house. Halfway there started to panic. Kept going. Panic rising. Get to the door. Thankfully no queue. Get the prescriptions in a few seconds. Quickly walk home, binning off the plan of getting some milk on the way back, stomach playing up, get home, rush to loo.
This isn't a life. I've had enough.
Wish I knew what to say to you mate. I know you've tried so many different avenues to get beyond this and I really hope you can find the right one soon.

Santa Monica CA
As Stevo said, the place is lovely. Very different from the rest of LA. I've been fortunate to spend a fair bit of time there and have some friends living there.
It's spacious, and down to earth. not so much of the BS you might see elsewhere across the country. Even when the place is busy it never feels crowded. Last time I was there I saw a band of pensioners (must've been about 20-30 of em) sat on the steps to the beach playing ukuleles. It was class.
For the type of music you love, it'll make everything make sense. Seeing what influenced the Wilsons, how it's still like that today - I think it'll be great for you.
Ubers are fine, they're everywhere there. Just like food and attractive women.
I get the pre-holiday slump, but once you're out there I bet you won't wanna come back.
Are you flying into LA or Orange County? If it's the latter there's a huge statue of John Wayne out the front. Standing there looking like he's shit himself

This is better than all of them:
This one is good. Better than using a claret background, as when it's on the home shirt it will stand out whereas the claret background wouldn't.
20 minutes ago, Jas10 said:My understanding (as fan, not in any other capacity) is that there are trademark issues with the 1982 badges and variations thereof. That is why we switched to a shield for the dawn of the PL era.
Similar to the Italian national team shield during the Kappa era, it had been used in such a ubiquitous manner without ever being protected that it could no longer be protected. If accurate, that won't have changed over time.
I'm happy to be corrected on that though.

It really sounds like Heck is concerned about having 10,000 extra people use the existing transport links around Villa Park and I do understand where he's coming from. Anyone who visited the ground when we were pulling in 30,000 fans in the Championship can attest to how much worse travelling in is now we're filling VP again. Now add 10,000 more fans on to already strained transport links and it's clear to see there's a problem. Perhaps he wants that solved before moving ahead with extra seats.
Isn't it the case that the planning application is only approved on the basis that transport links are upgraded too?

Two great saves. All came from Watkins having an absolutely pointless shot at the other end.
