I remember the Irish Rugby coach (I think) a couple of years back being asked why he'd dropped a player.

His response was that he hadn't been dropped, his role had changed. The game had changed to mean that players coming off the bench are just as important as those that start and it shouldn't be seen as a hierarchy as such.

I wonder if that's the kind of culture Emery is instilling in the team. Starting on the bench doesn't necessarily mean you're worse than the players who start. It just means for this particular game your skills are valued differently. It's a tactical choice, it's not based on ability

Expect to see more of it next season when we've got a full compliment of central defenders, for instance.

I'd be terrified going to Dubai if nothing else was happening in the world.

As a holiday destination Dubai doesn’t appeal to me on the slightest.

I'm going for work. This will be about my 5th or 6th visit.

It never appealed to me AT ALL, but I've spent quite a bit of time over there now and I really like it. Totally different than the media here would have you believe.

Either way, I can cope with bell ends in Ferraris. It's being in the sky near Iran that worries me.

appreciate I haven't posted in here for a while.

Does this mean you're back? Like, are you gonna be on VT again?

It's great keeping up on Twitter but I miss you on here.

  4. Wragg is the MP for the constituency that I'm mere yards away from being in. We're lumbered with Mary Robinson, who is an absolute waste of space. Been phoning it in for years.

For this reason, I've taken a keen interest in what he's been up to as an MP (not as a civvy!) and he has always seemed like he's in the wrong party. Isn't always nailed on to follow the whip or sit quietly. On a couple of occasions, I've asked him on social media if he's definitely in the right party.

He's human like all of us, but unlike some Tories. He's made a big mistake and then compounded it through fear.

Compared to the absolutely hateful rocket polishers he shares the benches with, I genuinely feel sorry for him.

He was a lot better than Pau and Konsa today. Think those two had one of their worst matches in a Villa shirt.

That's where my head was at with it. I thought it was the worst game I've seen from Pau since his first 3 or 4.

No it isn’t. It was a cowardly selection IMO and I’m a Villa fan. He essentially picked a team that didn’t have a hope in hell of getting a result at City, of course Arsenal fans will be pissed off. Maybe you’ve had a few too many sherbets so can’t see it.

Who would you have picked that he didn't - bearing in mind City left out Haaland and KDB who have both suffered niggling injuries and played international games lately?

We are much better than them so really should, as long as Emery plays the strongest team. I’m starting to worry he doesn’t know what that is though.

I bet Emery's strongest team includes a fully fit (and not suspended) Martinez, Pau Torres, Tielemans, McGinn, Bailey and Watkins. And Kamara. Possibly Mings and Buendia. Almost certainly Jacob Ramsey.

So far from not knowing what it is, it's more that he has to protect it for the games we have a strong chance of winning with our strongest team.

I could get on board if your statement was "he doesn't know his strongest team when 7 of his regular starting 11 aren't fully fit", because the drop off from first team to squad players is massive.

But your statement wasn't that, so I wholeheartedly disagree.

Considering we are 4th in the league we defo don't act like it sometimes.

The team we've put out tonight would be sitting about 12th.

The difference between a small squad with a quality XI vs a large squad with 115 financial offences. As of 5 years ago.

Surely the price should be the most outrageous thing about the shirt

    You're right. It should.

I can understand the player version being that price. It costs what it costs - they've got to make the best kit for the athlete.

The replica prices are outrageous though.

Still, it'd probably be about £40 if it wasn't caked in leftist iconography.
