I agree with this - Defoe is a very good striker. Bent is not better, just different in style and with a different mix of abilities. The reason Spurs want him is because he'll able to play effectively with either Berbatov or Keane, whereas a Keane/Defoe partnership doesn't work that well, so when Berby is injured we're a bit stuffed.

If Villa bid for Defoe and he signs for you (no real idea how likely that is) I reckon Villa fans - including the doubters - would end up being well pleased with the goal-scoring results.

Dude, please try to keep this thread Villa related. I notice you've done your best there but as a Villa fan it can be irksome to keep reading about how you're certain Spurs going to sign every good English player ever.

And even if you do - great! They'll all leave for a proper big club after a couple of good seasons anyway. Spurs players always do.

None of us can say whether we'll sign x, y or z player, or whether we wont. This time last year if the names Petrov and Carew had been put in this thread the same arguments would've broken out.

A small point slightly off topic. Whatever the claret and blue are; they will appear differently on different materials. A tile will look different from material from a sign from printed material from a web colour. Its better that the C & B are matched on each material from a defined colour scheme by someone who knows what they are doing.

Exactly true. Certainly the better teams I've worked with in the past offer a full CI manual with everything from basic Pantone references to logo colours on varying paper backgrounds. It's comprehensive.

I'd imagine that the club will be pulling something similar together alongside the new badge design - a completely new CI. Would that be the case, General, or is the badge a stand alone project?

(2) This point may appear rather small fry. But as a keen purveyor of football games i notice that the most repected of these: Pro Evolution Soccer, does not have an Aston Villa License. It does not have one for many Prem clubs to be fair. But it does for Manchester Utd and Arsenal. As these games are played around the world (USA and Japan in particular) i feel that an Aston Villa license would help to raise our profile worldwide. (Plus it would be more fun for me!) Any ideas on why only certain clubs grant licenses for such products and if we have any plans to give ours to the developers?
