  1. Spurs are about 2 games in front of us. Beat them twice next season and we will finish above them. Any way, I don't care about the big Spurs debate I just want to read about Villa transfers/rumours on this thread.
  2. Like I said Richard, I think he would be a good signing but not for £6 to £8 million. £5 million is probably fair.
  3. I would much rather have Barry than Taylor but this is old ground we are in danger of treading. To be honest, for all his spectacular goals, I would prefer us to sign someone else if he is going to cost over £6 million. Please don't ask me who though.
  4. Only if you think Taylor is anywhere near young, which he isnt. Exactly. Not only that, I doubt there is much potential for improvement in Taylor as I think he is about as good as he ever will be. CV will cream himself if we did sign him though!
  5. Taylor is not worth £8 million. At best he is a £5 million player, especially when you consider that the fee Pompey were rumoured to offer for Barry was around the £4.5 million mark. If we spend £8 million on him so be it, as long as it doesn't jeapourdise the purchase of other targets, which I am sure it won't!
  6. Well Samuel wanted to leave and was out of contract so he wouldn't have stayed even if MON wanted him to so I would say this adds any weight to the rumour to be honest.
  7. I would be pleased to sign Taylor as he is a good solid player. Not sure if he is the left sided player we would need if Barry is to be moved inside but only time will tell. FWIW I seriously doubt we will sign him.
  8. Thetrees. yeah that was him i wonder if hes got any info this time around? His info was based on his knowledge of the airports so unless its oversea's players, I doubt he will be able to help.
  9. Good stuff. I can understand why some people may prefer Bent but what everyone fails to realise is that I am ALWAYS correct! :winkold:
  10. Because he's scored 9 goals in his last 25 games (16 starts, 9 sub) and he has the potential to be a major player, if you can't see that then that's not our problem. Im not saying it was your problem i just wanted someone to explain to me why he is so good, whenever i have seen play he looks lazy, theres a reason why Bent is hot property and Luke Moore is not I think that reason is simply the fact that Bent has largely avoided long term injuries and played every game. Luke has had some injury problems and has got much more competition than Bent. I don't think he looks lazy at all on the pitch. Sometimes he looks bored but it doesn't stop him working on the pitch.
  11. There is truth in the first part of what you say but I think the persuasive powers of MON and the current board as well as the fact that we are starting to show genuine ambition makes this scenario a fair bit different to the Dwight Yorke saga. As for the last bit, Man United won't just double a players wages. They aren't Chelsea and won't pay "whatever it takes" for anyone. Look at Ballack for example.
  12. I never thought this would happen, ever, but I agree. I would be confident of Moore getting at least 15 goals next season if played regularly so why spend money on Bent if it means letting him go. Having both of them is an altogether different proposition though.
  13. I don't think they would bid for him at the moment so doubt its truth. Assuming they did, it would take a bloody big bid as we don't need the money!
  14. I actually think Moore is potentially as good as Bent. He just needs a run of games.
  15. The same could be said the other way round. Having seen a lot more of Sorensen this season than Foster (obviously), I can think of one big mistake that Tommy has made resulting in a goal (Boro away), and can think of two for Foster just off the top of my head (Robinson's goal for Spurs, Vassell's goal for Man City). If I can think of those, I'm fairly sure there must be more. Every goalkeeper makes mistakes. This is true and Sorensons mistakes are not why I would rate Foster above him. My reasons for doing so are based on aerial command, organisational ability and age. Sorenson is generally as good as most other top keepers in the world at the moment (including Foster) at shot stopping, he severely lacks in the other departments. Personally, goal keeper is not a priority position to be replaed for me but if we are going to do it, Foster would be a good choice.
  16. Completely different. Foster has played a full season in the Premiership and a full season in the Championship. That is enough to base an opinion on how good he is. The latter part of the comment is unintelligent and absurd.
  17. I see your point but having seen Foster play he is about as good a shot stopper as Sorenson. However, he commands his area much more and plays with more confidence meaning that the defenders aren't as uncertain as to what he will do. Being 10 years younger too he will only improve. A much better option for the future a reasonably better option for the here and now!
  18. I am a Sorenson fan but Foster is a far superior keeper and about 10 years younger so will only improve. Totally bullsh*t. He's not better than Sörensen. Not in a million years. An opinion is not bullsh*t so don't suggest otherwise. Perhaps you could intelligently respond as to why you believe this rather than respond in the manner you have done.
  19. I am a Sorenson fan but Foster is a far superior keeper and about 10 years younger so will only improve.
  20. With Man Utd rumoured to be after Gordon I would make a bid for Foster. He won't stay if they sign Gordon.
  21. He has scored 35 goals in his two seasons at Boro Denis and 36 in his two full seasons for Pompey, makes him much more than the one season wonder that you are implying.
  22. I wouldn't mind Yakubu either seeing as though he stated his desire to leave Boro this week!
