  1. You could always send him a PM if you're that eager for an update?
  2. He got stick from the moment he was appointed. It just got worse when results didn't go our way. If - just if - Benitez was appointed and we lost the first couple of games, the shit would be hurled at him big time. Be under no illusions about that. You can see the mood even on this thread.
  3. Although Benitez has a good football brain and a wealth of experience, I think he would have a hard time winning over an element of our support which sees him as tainted by "Scouse" and as a "Fat Spanish Waiter". I think he would be given a scaled-down version of the abuse which was levelled at McLeish. Not a universally popular choice, by any means - unlike the angelic OGS....
  4. Ha ha! Had me going for a minute there, BSD - nearly "Google'd" him!!
  5. I don't know about anybody else, but I'm running short of straws to clutch at LOL.
  6. At 62 i think Pierre is just outside Randy's young and vibrant. Ah, of course. Would it, by the same token, exclude Mr. R. Benitez who is a mere lad of 53?
  7. Well spotted guys with Robin Dutt - could be interesting, in view of the stuff about the need to attract more Asians to the game, he apparently has Indian ancestry. Turning to Africa for inspiration I see that Pierre Lechantre, a former Cameroon manager and African Nations Cup winner, has just walked out of his new appointment as Senegal national coach. Anyone know where Randy's plane is these days?
  8. Tend to agree with you Didier. I think the rumour mill will seize on anything at the moment. and distort it a thousandfold. Wales are playing a friendly against Mexico in NY on Sunday, perhaps he's just gone to watch that?
  9. What a difference a week makes! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/9274308/Liverpool-rejected-by-Swansea-City-manager-Brendan-Rodgers-as-Anfield-looks-to-replace-sacked-Kenny-Dalglish.html
  10. How can you be sure that they were brothers? Did they show you their birth certificates? They may just have been friends LOL.
  11. How can you be sure that they were brothers? Did they show you their birth certicates? They may just have been friends LOL.
  12. Heskey is currently in Monaco (and his wife is gorgeous!) - so are Pardew and Villas-Boas. I wouldn't read too much into it personally...
  13. And yet we all waited with baited breath for contributions by our beloved General Krulak, himself no spring chicken.....I seem to remember "yes General, no General, three bags bloody full General"!!
  14. What's happened to tribalism? Here we are with people drooling over OGS and even Benitez - I thought we were supposed to simply "hate" anyone from manyoo scum or fat scouse gits? Could someone kindly provide a list of those clubs/former personnel we are supposed to regard as "scum"? Or could it be that rational argument is taking over from blind prejudice?
  15. Apparently little Roberto has gone all coy and is playing hard to get. Seeking assurances from the mighty Liverpool about the extent of control he might exercise. Who does he think he is?
  16. Good morning VTers! Wonder who's going to be "plat du jour" today? Yesterday was a kind Poyet/Benitez day with a bit of Ranieri thrown in for good measure. How about we give a bit of hype to a lad called Karl Robinson, of MK Dons, apparently he's "the Pep Guardiola of League 1" ?
  17. Just wondering whether anyone's made any "decisions" about pre-season friendlies yet? Any tours planned?
  18. I doubt he'd fit the "vibrant" criterion that's been bandied about, and I think Randy & Pauly are also looking for someone younger. It's not clear yet whether Ranieri has been interviewed alone by the Baggies, or in tandem with Ray Wilkins. Personally I'd welcome them with open arms right now!
  19. I think it depends which way the wind blows. Though there are rumours that Gustavo Poyet held up commuters at Brighton Station by arguing with the ticket clerk over the price of a cheap day return ticket to Birmingham. Might be more on Twitter....
  20. It's a discussion board, isn't it? Sorry that you feel embarrassed by some of it. Perhaps we should all shut up - I'm sure the Club will make a statement of a new appointment in the fullness of time.....
  21. Seems to me the OGS thing came about pretty quickly? OK, it didn't result in anything concrete, but at least there were signs of making an effort. More of the same please - no good just sitting back and watching what's happening elsewhere. Have a clear objective and go for it - before a competitor does!
  22. Whatever happened to forward planning and contingency planning? The exit of AMC was predictable for a very long time before it actually happened. Surely it's not too much to ask for the board to be prepared for this, and to have a firm idea of who they want - then go out and get them? Pro-active or re-active? What a way to run a business!
  23. I wanted him last year, but seems I've gone off him a bit! Would definitely support him though, and his relegation fighting experience might be useful if things don't go so well for us........
  24. Agreed. Also - as with Martinez - isn't it utterly depressing to have to go grovelling after people who've already reportedly turned us down last time on the merry-go-round? Look further afield, please Randy & Pauly... PS. Where's the plane?
