  1. Do not waste your bed sheets .
  2. We were also a lot more affluent in the transfer market. I am not disputing where we finished or how we did it. I am discussing the general style we played under MON, IMO it was not much better than now. We had some great memories under MON by the way. No. I just want Villa to win matches. And hopefully we can improve our style in due course.
  3. Possibly. I do think Lambert deserves the benefit of doubt considering our tough start and the points we have obtained so far.
  4. It is fair to McLeish but unfair to Lambert. We had a much more easier start in the McLeish season in comparison, we beat teams who were involved in the relegation battle come the end of the season (Wigan/Blackburn/Bolton), and we drew a lot of games.
  5. We were also a lot better from set-pieces. A large majority of our goals came from corners and set plays under MON. From what I recall, we never did dominate a game with possession or had great ball retention under MON. That is amazing considering we were the sixth best team in the county for three years and the money we spent on players. What does this say about English/British football?
  6. True, but it makes you wonder how good some of the players we ridiculed in the MON regime would seem now. We were spolit. The football was not much better under MON than it is currently.
  7. Could it change in a good way or a bad way?
  8. You are not on trial .There appears to be some confusion and contradictions regarding the actual transfer fees. I would like to know who is actually in charge of the transfer strategy? Randy or Paul (Lambert).
  9. Barry and Lukaku were signed after they had sold a major asset (Marounane Fellaini).
  10. Nobody can dispute that we have been reducing the wage bill. But the reduction policy began in 2010. In that time, GH and AM have signed "experience" players for bigger fees and wages, albeit a smaller amount of players. I doubt Lerner would deny Lambert the same opportunity.
  11. It seems to go against what Faulkner said to the Supporters Trust a while back. In the PDF - it indicates Lambert has "chosen" what he spends his transfer funds on. I am under the impression Lambert has decided to sign younger players on his own accord.
  12. I do not disagree. But HH keeps mentioning the budget and hinting Lambert would prefer experience players? I am confused.
  13. Some say he inherited "average premier league players". Why has he chosen to dispose of a large majority of them? Surely Lerner is not telling him who to sign and release from the club?
  14. Will Lambert allow N'Zogbia to return when match fit?
  15. Emmm, they dominated us yesterday and we lost. Yes I am aware of that. But it was hardly a "dominate" performance by Berbatov. Their whole team played well and that got them the result.
  16. I thought Herd handled Berbatov quite well. I still would not swap any of our players for Fulham's.
  17. All I know his last result as Colchester manager was a 7-1 victory.
  18. He selected Herd because he is right footed and a CB. Baker played because both of our first choice left backs are injured currently. How does PL have limited ambition?
  19. Wow, I was thinking almost the same just that I was thinking it reminded me of the majority of last season and the majority of the season before and the majority of the season before that. Nothing like consistency though and we are in transition and we need stability. Lambert can only be accountable for his time in charge.
  20. Today's result and performance reminded me a lot of the beginning of last season. Disappointing.
  21. A large percentage of players in that squad are playing in the Championship. What does this tell you about that team/squad? McLeish tried subtlety tweaking the squad with a few signings, sadly it did nothing to improve our fortunes on the pitch. It only increased our wage bill and lumbered us with more poorly motivated players. Why are people still comparing Lambert with McLeish? The Ferguson link has greater credence.
  22. This does not do justice to the situation. I do not think there was a choice to be made in regards to the quantity of players brought in. Lambert inherited a poor team and a weak squad which was evident by the failure and struggle of the previous season. The culture of the club needed to change. The existing players had no desire to move the club forward and were draining the club financially and emotionally. Compounded with the fact Lambert was under instructions to reduce the wage bill in the process, it was/is a difficult task. The mass revamp needed to happen whether it was by Lambert or another manager. Interestingly what has happened to the players who have left the club during this period?
  23. If Herd is available, it will be him on the bench and not Donacien. I assume.
