  1. Wigan can be unpredictable though.. I saw them play Man city at the DW, and gave them a right go.. Unlike us. same again against Liverpool and chelsea.. They both drew there.. All im saying is wigan can be unpredictable.. I mean we should win.. But im guessing draw in that one.

  2. What airline is he going by or will it be private charter?

Either way, would it be at all possible to slip the airline a few quid and make the plane 'vanish' into some rain forest in Brazil?

What a complete waste of time. This break from the Prem would have been better spent sorting the ginger turds P45 and finding someone who can at least navigate their way into the oppositions half during a game.

    Thats pretty Dark man..lol

the Alex mcleish aircrash investigation special on national geographic

   '

  4. Ohh sorry, yeah im a year ahead lol. its was 06/07 We finished 1th... But still this is turning out to be a nightmare season.. Just want it to end already.

Yeah that season we finished with 42 points on the board.

Yeah that season we finished with 42 points on he board.

  6. The secret of winning against Wigan and Blackburn is just to attack them consistently. Both sides are capable of getting goals but their defenses are both disaster areas

This remind you off a certain team that play in Claret and Blue lol..

Except that teams don't even need to attack us constantly to win.

    :(

Yeah very true, we just invite them on.. With how bloody deep we sit trying to soak up pressure. Eventaully you are going to concede if you defend so deep. E.G Man city on sunday.. look how deep we were . and when we did clear the ball it was no good because it just came straight back... we needed to press them high up the pitch..

  7. Made some good arguments there tbh, but here is a question.. What happens if he loses the dressing room? ( assuming he already hasn't lost it).. thats a hard thing to win back.. when you lose confidence in your manager, how are you suppose to go out there and play with confidence, when the manager who picks the tactics has set out for a 0-0 ..and defend so deep that there is no chance of getting past the half way line.. Apart from when you go 1 nile down and Finally start attacking but realize, you started to late for example man city.. We started attacking in like the last 10 mins.. What is the point? every time we got the ball clear it just cam straight back at our defense..

I thought personally he got McLeish in to Sort out the defense and Steady the team. Well so far it has not worked.. our defense is no better than last season..

  8. If only other players had the attitude of Cuellar. Taken from Sky Sports web site:

"If you give me some gloves I will play in goal, anything for the good of the team. For me the best feeling is being in the first team. I don't care where I play, for the team I will play anywhere."

    Carlos Cuellar

    Quotes of the week

    Great words.

  10. Yeah to be fair more people are defending him, than slating him... I mean against that midfield most players would struggle.. lets judge him in 5 years, Not on 1 game against , what is arguably the best midfield in the PL ;)..

  11. We need to find a player similar to milner.

Or rather we need to let him learn the Premier League ;)

yeah good point, hes got the potential to be better i think anyway. If we are talkin about the same player ;)

Oh I'd say we probably are

I just hope AM doesn't manage to destroy his wonderful potential, because he could be a very promising player for Villa, and I believe future captain.

  12. McLeish's record after 25 games is almost an exact replica of MONs first 25 games with us

I don't think the club can justify getting rid now at this stage in the season

    Come the summer, yes possibly

  I did not know that. I know that the first season under MON was not great but I did not think it was anywhere near as bad as this. I thought AVFC got 50 points that season.

we did finish with 50 points.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006%E2%80%9307_FA_Premier_League

And then the next season he finished with 60 points-2007/08, then the next season he finished with 62 points-2008/09, at lastly he finished the 2009/10 season with 64 points, finishing ahead of liverpool and a couple behind Man city.. Ah i miss those days!! MON improved Season upon season with villa, well points anyway.

  14. there 'old school' way off defending is absolutely killing us. where is the communication?
this should be answered by someone who attends the games as from streams or tv it is not visible for me if players are, or are not communicating during the match broader than simple "pass me". the defense must be in constant communication to be better positioned and marking properly. only thing i can confirm that Keane is non-stop talker managing almost whole attack as you can see his talking and oftenly frustration on simple errors or misplaced passes and lack of movement.

yeah keane did look like he could organize an attack..good we need more players to speak up, and organize the team, clearly because as much as we can blame Mcleish for most things, he can't be on the pitch with the player..there just doesnt seem to be any fire in there bellies, no passion to try and close anyone down.. I think they have lost confidnece in AM, so have he fans.. And lerner is just now in denial...but keane has gone now so thats another thing we have lost, a voice on the pitch, at least trying to organize things..

  15. Yeah think it was a mistake to get rid of him , and Cahill was another mistake to get rid of..i mean who sells Cahill-future england CB for habib beye, and james collins?? I mean it makes no sense. Craig is a very useful player, can play in alot of positions.

  16. From memory the squad we have now is far superior to the one MON inherited from DOL.

Not sure I agree, don't forget we had bouma Laursen mellberg Barry

Plus MON had cash to buy Petrov Carew and Young

The squads were similar in capability but MON inherited a much better defence

Laursen had played about 10 or so games for Aston Villa before MON arrived. His best years were while MON was in change. Samoe for Bouma, he was rubbish his first season. Barry was on his way to Portsmouth for 4 milion pounds until MON arrived and kept him. Says it all.

King Olof, was of course, king Olof.

MON's first season squad was extremely poor, much much weaker than this season's.

    Yeah, I'd agree with that.

I'm remembering him having Baros up front, Luke Moore out wide with Gabby on the other flank and Gavin McCann in midfield.

Wiki says it all for me, especially with their most played starting XI

Yeah looking at that team, its not the greatest of attacking talent is it? AM has more attacking talent now, than MON did back then... Minus Barry.. take a look at our midfield. very very weak.. same as now.. We never replaced The engine of James milner.. Insead we got Ireland, who on his day is a good player, Will never have the work rate of milner.. We need to find a player similar to milner.
