  1. Not happy with both line ups, hope Smith proves me wrong but we should've IMO started with the team that ended the match with Everton, not the one that started. Trez and Samatta very lucky. Was hoping Arsenal would be much weaker too but that looks pretty strong despite the changes. Oh well all the more sweeter if we get anything from the game! Come on you Villa boys
  2. I hope you're right but I can see why some of us are worried. It's been a good 26 minutes for Watford shape wise. One city goal may change all that of course but they look lacklustre so far
  3. Just put £50 on watford/draw I'm trying my best for us
  4. Me too, but I think it's just because it's up first - As soon as that finishes it will all be about us - Will be so much less pressure if they have lost by 3 or 4. Just looked on Skybet and Watford or Draw (double chance) is 9/4 - So basically if you put £100 it would return £325 - The gambler in me is very tempted.. Not cos I think it will win, just that it would be a bit of a softener should it happen. But then I think, surely Man City will win tonight and why waste that sort of money (which I haven't really got to lose ) - Just hope City get an early goal to calm the nerves
  5. Plus I know a few Leeds fans that wouldn't want to send Bowyer down being an ex Leeds fave. Not sure if that will have an effect on the Leeds players though. Probably not. Ignore me . I get we all think the Blues are lucky when it comes to escaping relegation but compared to how fortunate they think we are, with just about everything, is miniscule. They really are a scorned bunch! I think their right though, we are very lucky, very lucky we don't support that disgusting shower of s*!£€
  6. Well tomorrow night is going to be tense, it's bad enough watching just Villa, but it's going to be even worse having to watch both games knowing they will have such a major effect on our Premier League status. I often wonder about turning my phone off and taking myself away from the TV for a few hours and then just looking at the scores when it's all done - then if it's a positive outcome could watch it after. It seems the sensible thing to do, take yourself away from all the pressure. But I never do. And no doubt I will be glued to the TV from 6, sweating on both results, placing numerous bets on Watford and Arsenal to try influence the games (I know it doesn't, but it makes me feel slightly better, not much though!). Looking on the City forum the fans generally want wholesale changes and are worried on their best players picking up injuries before their tie with Real Madrid - Hopefully Pep see's it differently and whichever team he puts out are up for it to make amends for Saturday. With regards to this game - If someone offered me a 1-0 City win now I would take it. Before our match with Liverpool I said we would need 8 points and would need an unbeaten run of 4 games at the end of the season, I stick by that. Although stats suggest we can stay up with 3 points, IMO we need a draw, at least tomorrow, but should be going all out for the win.
  7. That was tense but an absolutely perfect ending with the disallowed Bournemouth goal and the second Saints goal which I think has left them totally demoralised, on top of that the crazy news coming from Vicarage Road, it has been a brilliant day for us. I stuck £20 on Bournemouth at 0-1 and another £20 for 1-1 with 5 to go... it was the best £40 I've spent (wasted!) Don't worry ill be doing the same silly bets on the remaining matches I just hope we can spring a surprise Tuesday and a get a result Sunday
  8. Pearson is rattled, that is a good sign. All a bit more clear now, not in our hands but it's literally 2 from 3. We're 1/7, Bournemouth 1/4 & Watford 5/4 but one result can change it all. I'm not even thinking about GD (IE city banging 4 or 5 past Watford, just please God make sure they win. That's the main thing). Hoping Ings and the saints are firing on all cylinders Sunday Key Dates; Sunday 19th - Bournemouth vs Soton 2pm Tuesday 21st - Watford vs Man City & Villa vs Arsenal 8.15pm Sunday 26th - Everton vs Bournemouth, West Ham vs Villa, Arsenal vs Watford 4pm
  9. Still hurts this one, stayed off VT last night, thought it would be in full meltdown mode I thought we played quite well after the first 10 minutes and perhaps until the last 10 (crucially) - Think we deserved the 3 points though, and it's gutting to concede so late, but we've been there before (time and time again). I thought Smith should have started with Davis - (How anyone thinks Samatta is a better option at the moment I just don't understand, but that's for a different thread), but at least he made the correct subs which contributed to us going in front. The El Ghazi miss from a gilt-edged chance was unforgivable and ultimately cost us 3 points - Can't blame Smith for that. Luiz was different class again, McGinn looked more like his old self, Konsa looks like a good prospect, isn't quite working for Grealish - I think he finds it hard performing in BIG matches, IE Play-off finals, semi-finals, Cup Finals ETC and now relegation battles - I think it's because he truly loves the club and it means more to him than anyone else. Trez was absolutely abysmal again, he really is a funny player to watch (Ok, well not if you're a Villa fan) - he is shockingly bad, but would have probably buried that El Ghazi chance with aplomb (let's face it, you and I would have!). A point away at Everton would usually be a great result, but unfortunately the circumstance that surrounds us means it was miserably two-points dropped and perhaps our Premier League status along with it. Having said that I still think we can beat Arsenal and West Ham I really do, our performances (Chelsea aside) haven't been that bad though we are where we are for a reason and however much it hurts we only have ourselves to blame.
  10. I think these posts pretty much sums up the point I was making regarding it being hard to pick the best result in the West Ham V's Watford game. If you are of the opinion (and convinced) that Watford will lose to both Man City and Arsenal then you would take a West Ham victory all day long and hope that we can finish above Bournemouth. If you would prefer a Watford win then you are of the assumption that West Ham will lose to a fired-up United and we can take them on in a final day shoot-out - And again hope to finish above Bournemouth. If you want a draw then I think you are hoping to keep both teams "in the mix" on final day, which I understand why people would want, yet if this happens, then it means we definitely need 2 wins as opposed to 2 draws and 1 win. Part of me wishes we had lost to Palace (not really) because we would not still have this hope to cling on to, and it's the hope that kills you. Worryingly, Skybet currently have us and Bournemouth at 1/7 which alludes to them thinking it is all over - I would love to see how the odds would change if we were to pick up 3 points tonight - Come on Villa, we can do this!
  11. The West Ham vs Watford match is a strange one. It's not obvious which is the best result for us. Bottom line is we need 5 points to have a chance of staying up. If we were to draw 2 and beat West Ham then that would put us on 35 points. A result either way would need to happen or we would all be on 35 and we would pretty certainly go down on GD. If we get 2 wins from our remaining 3, we're on 36 and then I think a draw may suit us. 7 or 9 points would be an absolute dream (beating the of course!)
  12. Not if West Ham beat Watford and Man Utd and Watford beat Man City and Arsenal
  13. Call me a cynic but there's something very dodgy about this City performance
  14. I very much doubt we will replace Reina and Elmo (rightly so), both of whom produced very good performances last time out whilst being part of a defence that kept a welcomed clean sheet.
  15. They also thrashed Derby 3-0. So 3 wins, 3 draws (1 a local derby) including tonight's draw with Fulham and a single goal defeat at Brentford. 12 points from 7. It's not spectacular but it may be enough. I think they will be happy with a point tonight tbh, win their last 2 they are up.
  16. Getting nervous already, just hope we do ourselves justice - If we approach it in the right manner, keeping it solid at the back with no individual mistakes, but start on the front foot with an attacking impetus then we have a great chance for 3 vital points. Goodison Park can be a tough place to go with the crowd on top of you so the lack of atmosphere in this one is a big plus for a team with our away record. I personally would stick Davis up top in place of Samatta, but it's debatable either way, I just think Davis has a better all round game and will be more of a handful for the Everton defence. Targett in for Taylor (who's probably out anyway) And the rest as you were. I think this one is all down to how our two centre halves play - if Konsa and Mings can nullify the threat of Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison we will win this - Think this will be the key battle and who comes out on top will walk away with the three points. UTV
  17. I personally would love to see you go up, the games I have seen you play have been very enjoyable and since the re-start you have been on fire and are at least making the top 2 work for automatic promotion. I can't see any of the current top four dropping any more points (excluding tonight's game between West Brom and Fulham) therefore if Fulham win tonight, you're up on GD. Congratulations
  18. No worries at all, I agree the wins will all be irrelevant if we do drop out of the league and it's been a tough season . I just feel that although looking at the table it doesn't appear that we're in a 'better place with the same points difference and one game less, I'm looking at the bigger picture which is the games that are left to play and us actually winning our first game since lockdown and hopefully the confidence that it may bring in the final three games
  19. I've said for a long time 36 to 38 points gives us a fighting chance, I think 36 may not be enough, 37 may just do it, we can't mathematically get 38, so let's aim for 39
  20. The fact that we're all still debating our survival chances at the end of today speaks volumes...
