For me it's occasional incompetence but also largely corruption. If it was purely incompetence it would not nearly always favour the media 6 clubs &/or go against those clubs such as Villa, West Ham Newcastle etc who have the finanicial clout to threaten those media 6 clubs.
I have no doubt Arsenal fans will be crying about it today after their goal was unsurprisingly disallowed at Old Trafford for a "foul". The thing is that is a typical example of when a big decision does go against a media 6 club, which nearly always is when they are playng another media 6 club. I very much doubt that would have been disallowed against them had it been the same situation at Villa Park for example.
No surprises either that Utd were the beneficiaries of yet another contentious decision, even if it was against another media 6 team. There is clearly a Liverpool / Utd bias even amongst those 6 teams. No doubt in Utd's case they want them back in the top 4 asap to keep those ££££££'s rolling in from Asia & Africa etc.
It is 100% this. Its telling the English FA have never had a serious investigation into corruption and match fixing in the UK. Other European top leagues have investigated and dismissed the ones found guilty thats why their officials are so so much higher quality than England.
When you have the likes of Souness who obviously doesnt particularly like Villa openly saying "that was a legitimate goal Villa had chalked off, this could matter to them this season. Its just wrong this keeps happening." or Lineker after the ManU debale saying "its very strange and disturbing that the officials seemed to be looking for a reason to disallow Villa's goal" you know its obvious.
Instead we are asked to believe that English officials are inherently morally better than other top leagues officials, so its "inconceivable" they could be crooked. They are and every fan outside of the few favoured clubs know it.
Corruption is killing this league. We need an independent body to investigate English officials, its gone on long enough.

I'm really worried. We have less than 1 point per game.
Same here. You cant really tell till 10 games in, but we seem on a relegation scrap trajectory right now. We need a run of wins before we can start breathing easy. There are lots of positives from today, not least Gerrard improving and making changes but its fair to note Newcastle achieved the same just a few weeks ago.

If he wins Leicester, I’ll feel a way that I’m incapable of feeling today, I know that much; it’s so hard to judge before things actually happen.
Can I just say, what a great weekend this is? How can one little draw exert so much power over my life? I feel so happy!!!! wtf is this?
Same! Its been a VERY rough few weeks. Its ok for us all to enjoy a good performance!

Absolute class today. Really excellent. Had Foden in his pocket, showed aggression and excellent distribution. That tackle on Foden followed up with the pass to Luiz was sensational. I’d start him next game.
Agree. Also we may not have a choice.

Back OT no I am not convinced Gerrard is the man after one game, but I cant criticise him today and he deserves praise. Its one game at a time for me.

Don’t underrate post-breakup sex, my friend.
Semi related, I recommend never breaking up with a girl right after sex. You may end up end up marrying her and you will never hear the last of it for 40 years.

Finally! I thought I was going mad reading over posters comments on here.
Its not just me mate, the commentators over here were saying the same thing. Man City were terrifyingly good and on top form. Gerrard out thought Pep and our players wanted it more.
I will take that all day long.

Man City were absolutely terrifying today, the first half was the best I have seen Man City play. They would have ripped apart another relegation zone premier league team with another 6 nil.
Full credit to Gerrard and the players for weathering that storm. Now they know they can go toe to toe with the best team in the league who are playing at their best.
Thats got to be a huge boost to everyone.-

Ferrari of a player. So happy he is home at Villa.

He shut me up. Good. Not gonna criticise him today given we earned 3 points against the best team in the league but only got 1 because of incompetent/corrupt officials.

Pgmol prop up the established top 6, simple as that.
English Refereeing is 100% incompetent and / or corrupt. The worst out of any top league.

Gerrard in?
It would be churlish of me to kick him in the teeth after that. He got it pretty much right. So yeah, he deserves another game. But I am watching you Gerrard...

Not downhearted at all just annoyed we havent changed manager yet. We have good players and owners thats the most important thing.
Lots of big clubs go through terrible decades, Look at Liverpool and hopefully ManU.
These opportunities of having money to spend and good players already in the building dont come around very often for football clubs.
Its why I am in such a rush for us to get in a good manager. The owners might get bored next season, we dont know. The time to push up the table is now. We have all the right ingredients, we just need a good chef.

”The two goals we conceded - and a lot of goals we have conceded - have been down to individuals." He does not name names in this instance but perhaps he does not have to.
"Showing someone the wrong way rather than on their weaker side." It is easy to conclude that this is a reference to the team's erstwhile captain Tyrone Mings allowing Bukayo Saka to cut inside on his favoured left foot and cross the ball for Gabriel Martinelli's winner.”
This angers me. Mings stopped Arsenal from spanking us even worse and stood up as a leader when McGinn had gone missing.

I only watched the first half of Arsenal, I wont bother watching Man City at all. Whats the point? I have no desire to watch Man City enjoying their football and beating us at a canter, which they will because our manager is a failure. Gerrard is done and I have growing concerns about Purslow's competence.
Gerrard shouldn't be here any more and everyone can see it. Purslow is now doing permanent damage to his reputation with fans. I hope the board is paying attention to their investment because Purslow isnt.-

The Russian mindset is not easy to understand
I dunno, I think their neighbours understand them very well. Russia is a fascist imperialistic power. It is no accident all of Russias neighbors hate them, they break their word and solemn treaties at the drop of a hat. They hate them because Russia is an evil empire, friends to no one . It was true when Reagan said it and its true now.

Carragher saying Gerrard won’t have any complaints about being sacked if the four games after City don’t go well.
I bet Carragher would be singing a different tune if Gerrard was managing Liverpool with these results.

ridiculous going into yet another game with a failed manager. Wtf???
Even if there is some clause about Gerrard getting less compo after X games or X losses none of that compares with the cost of getting relegated. Every game with Gerrard in charge is points lost.
I dont know what they are smoking in the boardroom but they need to come off it for a day and fix the damn football club.

Pretty much where I am.
I have concerns with each though:
Can Poch do it these days without superstar players? Do we have superstar players?
Is Potter just the next bright up and coming British manager who will be broken by Villa?
Is Rodgers maybe the next burnt out "seen it done it, give me my pay packet" manager?
Naturally I will take any of them over Gerrard but they all have some element of risk. None of them will get us relegated though, Gerrard will.-

Great player and a much improved performance, his legit goal was wrongly disallowed by a corrupt official. Its amazing we have him and Buendia here. Agree McGinn maybe the problem in midfield, Phil and Luis seem to have a good rapport.
