Southampton deserve our respect, they were above us in the league before today. I am delighted we got a win. Yup the football was boring, low risk and pragmatic. Just what we need right now.
I may be back to shouting for Gerrards sacking in a few games but it would be churlish of me to do so after a win. I am pleased.- 8

I am happy with that. Yes we need to play pragmatic football like we are in a relation scrap. We can get expansive after we have a few more wins under our belt. I approved of Gerrard's tactics. They worked.

We have decided the career paths we have chosen, the choices we make, and we are all free to change those paths if we so wish. The Queen didn’t have that choice. As soon as her uncle Edward VIII abducated her life was decided.
Of course she’s never had to worry about things like the cost of living, but her life came with its own costs and sacrifices.
I only spent 4yrs in the Army, but every single Soldier I met would have laid down their lives for this special leader, and sadly, many did.
Special, wonderful women. RIP ma’am. It was a pleasure to serve you Boss.
Well said. Thank you for your service by the way.

Have I missed something, wasn't this the decision of the football executives? Why are you blaming politicians?
Thanks for the correction But yes fair point, Richard Masters is a clown.

Ridiculous. We are all fully functional adults. We are quite capable of showing respect to a dead head of state and watching a football match in the same weekend.
Edit: because I was wrong to blame politicians

IMHO Trevor Sinclair should be fired for being a crappy football pundit but not for this. I am a 100% woke politically correct guy and a proud card carrying member of cancel culture, but its ok to have a ludicrously wrong opinion about the queen, sure its crass and tasteless but I get very queasy about firing people for being rude about heads of state. He has incited no violence, he is just a fool.

WTF
"The update came as Liz Truss was making a rather important statement about the future of energy bills. That of course is insignificant now"
Fingers right on the pulse, BBC. Get to ****.
Agree. I like the queen and I want her to be well but one old age pensioner dying in a luxury castle is hardly comparable to the much more important matter of the millions of pensioners who are facing unpayable heating bills this winter.
rant:
The press irritates the crap out of me when the rich and powerful die, like they assume we are all going to be sad and this really matters. But when our mothers die nobody gives a damn, our mothers are just as important as the queen is to her family.

She has lived so long and been a great queen. She has had a good innings.
But until I see her in the coffin, in the abbey I am hopeful she will pull through for another few years. -

The decline of Chelsea is speeding up. With the owner, Todd Boehly, installing himself as the sporting director and personally overseeing their recent £300m player recruitments its a disaster waiting to happen.
Maybe Potter can dig them out of the mess but a couple of defeats and Todd Boehly will be in that changing room sticking his oar in and messing it all up. Happy days
Todd Boehly gave us ~15M for Chukwuemeka's flash in the pan youth season. He is a Villa legend as far as I am concerned. Thanks for the cash Todd!

Not really, but who knows. If our owners are as ambitious as we think, it wouldn't hurt to approach. Stranger things have happened. Basket case Everton somehow managed to attract one of the greatest managers of all time.
I also think we should go for the best if/when the time arrives. it would do no harm to approach Zidane.
I genuinely dont think Tuchel will work in the premier league again any time soon. Lots of owners will have put him in the "problem" category given how much he gobs off to the press criticizing his own club/players.
Winning the Champions League with Chelsea is no guarantee of future employment, go ask Roberto Di Matteo.
But I would have no issue if we did get him, personally I think Tuchel is an annoying ass but none of that matters if he wins games. -
I would have sympathy but lets face it, Tuchel is a real ass. he wont be missed in the Premier League.

But but I thought Potter was committed to Brighton and would want to see out his project? Lmao.

My expectation pre seasons start was we would be winning / drawing all those games except Chelsea and Man U. Given our squad which I maintain is excellent I still think we should be going into all those games but two going for the win.
If Gerrard wants to play defensively till the second half when he brings on Phil & Emi thats fine by me. We looked solid against Man City.- 1

Just a bit of fun in all the doom and gloom at the moment
Past transfers
Robbie Keane, Alan Shearer, Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez
Future transfers
Rayan Cherki (Lyon), Kephrem Thuram (OGC Nice), Orkan Kokcu (Feyenoord), Thiago Almada (Atlanta), Gvardiol (Leipzig - not gonna happen I know)
Great shout. he arguably kept us up that MLS off season he came in on loan, Wonderful player would have loved to have had him here in his pomp.
My was and is Coutinho I wanted him here when Liverpool pipped us to his signature and I am delighted he is here now. Funny how these things work out.- 1

So what happens to Sanson now that he didn't get a transfer or loan away and Gerrard won't ever put him in the match-day squad.
Does he just chill at home and play FIFA until January?
Same for Guilbert as well i guess.
Both are enjoying their pay days. Not good enough for the premier league and they wont put in a transfer request because they ill have a pay cut. For Sanson we have another 2 years of him enjoying his all expenses paid vacation. Must be nice. Purslow and Lange have done some great business but they really messed this one up. They bought a dud on a long term contract and we cant shift him.

She managed to refrain from being too divisive in her speech. My plan for Liz Truss.
1.) Bail out the british public with massive government support for energy bills (at source the public shouldnt need to fill out forms)
2.) Maintain or Increase military support for Ukraine, begin the economic ties with post war Ukraine now. Ukraine and Europe will have a post war boom, the UK can be a leader and beneficiary of it.
3.) Surrender whatever the Brexit N.Ireland nonsense is. You signed the deal, the EU is in the right. Just do it.
4.) Invest in the NHS as you promised.
Do all 4 and she can declare victory then coast for 2 years. -

It was low risk dinosaur football and it worked. I would be calling for Gerrard's head again if we had lost. I am glad he played it safe and boring. I am also glad to see how much it meant to him. He could just wait for his payoff.
