I don't know what is happening with this possible transfer so I won't comment other than I trust Villa to do the right thing.
Because we've done the right thing so often over the last few years.
Maybe not everybody wants to stick the boot in to the club at every opportunity like you?

Just been tweeting Mat Kendrick and he seems to be under the impression that we are definitely choosing to adopt a sell to buy strategy after the first few signings due to wages more than anything else.
Must say i'm disappointed with this as if nobody wants to buy our rubbish we're pretty stuck

Take the filthy SHA shirt off him, I think he's a decent player
You've told us a few times that you would like him here and you get the same negative response each time.
I would rather start the season with Lichaj at left back than sign Murphy off the Blues.

Correct it was a suggestion and a bit of banter. People need to lighten up a bit
Your so called banter is always at someone else's expense, that is the issue.
Its a speculation thread, look up what "speculation" means before you start berating people for doing it.
Couldn't agree more.
Surprised that the mods haven't just created a separate thread for twitter rumours to keep the anti twitter brigade happy.

Linked with Wellbeck on twitter as our big name signing. Would definitely take Wellback over Carroll.
You've gone down with JulieB syndrome
Take a break from Twitter FFS
Who are you to tell anyone what to do?

I love Stephen Ireland... There I said it. It's true. He can be the difference this season linking with Bent and N'Zogbia. So excited for this season.
Not being funny but wasn't that the plan last season?
Our last manager had a plan that didn't really involve attacking though eh Bicks?

Interesting Metro article. Quotes and all.
I'd very much get behind a deal for Carroll. In terms of squad numbers do we have a No. 8 yet? Just curious as it may be for another forward.
Didn't El Ahmadi wear the number 8 for the Burton friendly?

Worst player I have ever seen in a Villa shirt.
Eric Djemba Djemba......

Are we forgetting things here! L2 side that finnished 17th last season, West ham, Everton and READING all stuffed there Leaugue 2 opponents yet Villa had to reley on an own goal to get us started. we need fire power, Benty needs to up his game, from what i saw he was crap.
Oh behave, the result doesn't matter it's about the players getting used to playing together and match fitness!
Ok! point taken, but why the hell cant we score? We shoved a lot of strikers/midfielders out there who can score for the reserves and yet they still can't hit the goal from 10 yards, my daughter can strike better than Benty and she is 7 next month.
Today was his first game since March so he was undoubtedly going to be rusty. Give them a break for god sake please. Yes it wasn't the greatest performance in the world but we won and practically the whole team got 45 minutes under their belts.
Also don't forget, that was our teams first attempt at attacking football in 12 months after that last idiot in charge don't forget!

How did Karim look?
Very confident on the ball and always hungry to win it back on the odd occasion that he lost it.
-
Maybe we could sign a player who can take a set piece as well? Oh heady days...
I really dislike Bannan but his set pieces were fairly decent today

When I got to the stadium today and saw how low the stands were, I thought straight away Collins won't handle this
Sure enough I'm pretty sure his "shot" cleared the stadium
Yeah it did...
I think you're being pretty unfair on him though, his passing was pretty good today, the one long pass he tried was straight to the player and it must have been at least a 50 yard pass. If we were to keep him i would hope Lambert can get him to step up a level.

After today's game it's clear our squad is in need of frightening up. We need a creative CM and a striker as well as a LB and CB. Another winger would also be good. Thought all 3 debutants were solid today.
We have a creative midfielder in Stephen Ireland he just happened to be unavailable.
Also what do you mean by frightening up??
Oops. I meant freshening up but my bloody predictive text decided otherwise.
Ah that makes more sense!
The quality of opposition makes the game very misleading but i thought our defence were very assured and safe today even Collins who actually played some nice football today.
I don't think Hutton is Premier League quality and I'm sure i saw Warnock have one of his usual lapses in concentration again today so unless Lambert is hoping Lowton can step up straight away i'd definitely agree we need a new LB.
I really hope Ireland can become a creative force this season.
-
I think he means spicing up, Why was SI unavailable?
According to Mat Kendrick SI, FD and MA were all suffering from slight knocks.

A host of clubs are ready to make a move for Blackpool winger Matt Phillips, Sky Sports understands.
The Tangerines look to have a battle on their hands to hang on to their exciting winger as Everton, Wigan, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Reading all weigh up potential bids.
The 21-year-old had an outstanding campaign last term for Blackpool scoring seven league goals and was one of the main reasons they made it to the play-off final.
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is desperate to keep hold of his wing stars in Phillips and team-mate Thomas Ince - but he could have a battle on his hands.
Everton are reported to be in pole position, but it is understood a number of their Premier League rivals are also very keen on landing the Scotland international.
Yes please!

To give people who didn't see the match a sense of who did well, based on that the starting 11 against WHU would be
---------------Given---------------
Lichaj---Collins--Clark--Warnock
-------Bannan-KEA-Herd---------
Holman----------------------Zigzag
---------------Bent-----------------
Maybe drop Herd and go 4-4-2 with Gabby up front. No great surprises then.
Are you going for Warnock based on his experience cause i wouldn't say he was any better than Stevens today...

Goooooooooalllllllllllllllllllllllll

Bloody hell that pass by Collins was immense!
-
Bannan in ambitious pass attempt shocker
-
Anybody know who's got the armband for the 2nd half??
-
Is Mark Albrighton injured?
Slight knock according to Mat Kendrick along with Delph and Ireland too
-
Complete teams change second half?
Everyone except Marshall i think
James Collins

Come on CI they weren't deliberate. If anything they were extremely clumsy and they go towards highlighting his lack of concentration!
