As hard as this is for me to type, we are not a TOP club though CI, Shay Given is a good fit for AVFC as we currently stand. Until we're ready/able to seriously challenge the top 6 again Given is one of the best options for us imo

What we need is given to have 2 screamers for Eire now getting his fee up to about £4m

Green definitely not but in my opinion Paul Robinson is still a very good goalkeeper. Blackburn would have been relegated a lot earlier had he not made as many saves as he did

macandally, everyone is entitled to an opinion but Green seriously? I would see Robinson and Ruddy as possible equals to Given but how can you state that Butland is a better option?? Have you watched much of Cheltenham Town in the past 12 months?

Croatia's first goal was just an unfortunate mistake, he went one way to see where the ball was and didn't have enough time to move back across!

The thing is as I see it, if we sold Shay for about 3 million how much would we have to spend to get a goalkeeper of a similar standard?

Regardless of the trouble Birmingham are in i doubt they would sell Foster to us for much less than 6/7 million. Rob Green isn't as good as Given.

I would be happy starting the next season with Shay in goal, whereas there are other positions i think require much more attention and funding before we think about replacing our number 1 goalkeeper.

I've not seen much of Siegrist, do people think he's ready to step up to number 2 goalkeeper or is he not ready just yet?

Would love to see him sign for us.

Speedy little player who isn't scared to run at defenders. Even if he isn't ready as a starting 11 player he would add some much needed quality and some depth to the squad!

The fact that Bent has come out and said he hopes we sign CNZ should make the board instantly want to take action and get this done.

We have lost 2 international wingers and the last thing we want is to piss off our star striker by replacing Young & Downing with mediocre tripe.

I also think we should move for Jeffren from Barca if the £5m Bolton link is true. He looks very good.

I agree a lot with your views on the people running the club, but i think a lot of us are starting to get their knickers in a twist over nothing here.

This deal is nailed on, and has probably always been that way, until Whelan put his ego in the way.

General,

This is the first time i've chosen to send a message to you and it is through sheer anger and disappointment that i'm doing so.

In an earlier post you promised us fans that McLeish would be backed by Mr Lerner only for us now to be told that we can only expect one more signing before the season starts.

Do the board understand how this makes us feel? We feel lied to and we have every right to feel that way.

If it's a case of signings will be made after the start of the season but before the end of the transfer window then why would Mr McLeish even bother saying anything? the board chose to appoint a manager who the fans were completely against and now to be told we're going to start the season roughly 14 players lighter is extremely disappointing.

I look forward to hearing something positive because we don't want another poor season, we deserve something good to happen to us.
