15 decent performances ? I'd even question that
Last year he achieved 1 goal and 2 assists
That's bloody pathetic
We weren't exactly an attacking outfit last season were we?
-
Mmmmm, I won't hold my breath on Ireland
I can't see him lasting the season under Lambert personally
Hope he proves me wrong
Can you tell me why?
-
Ireland was our hardest worker last year.
I really don't get this nonsense. He is hardly involved in games, Chelsea away aside, what other game did he have any real influence on ??
Was hard for any player to have an influence last season!
Ireland worked his socks off last season, even if he couldn't be as creative as he would have liked!
-
Ok, how about Jordan Rhodes
Wow someone we agree on, very raw talent but he really does know how to hit the net, my only worry is Huddersfield don't need to sell and therefore his price would be far too much. Anything under £5mil and i'd be happy....
-
Yes because you're looking at £35m for fletcher & Carroll
Wake up man !!
We're not going to sign both of Fletcher/Carroll are we so it wouldn't be £35million.
If we signed players at the level you have been suggested i'd be worried about relegation this season.
-
Would anyone else take a punt on Jermaine Beckford at £1.5m
Are you actually on the wind up?
Recently you've suggested we sign David Murphy, Jermaine Beckford and Guirane N'Daw and slated players like Steven Fletcher and I think you slated Andy Carroll too.
-
Wouldn't be happy with Jones or Owen.
Jones only seems to play well when it suits him and Owen is too much of a crock these days :/

Danny rose is the worst player in the premier league and i generally mean that. He has no attributes. Warnock is twice the player he is, and im not trolling
Do you genuinely mean it aswell?

We won't be spending £13million full stop, let alone on one player.
This just isn't happening.
I rate Fletcher - but he's not worth £13million.
Pilchard, fancy a wager on you stating we won't spend £13 million full stop?
I say we'll spend over £13 million this window.
Loser gives £10 to VT?
Does it include what we have already spent?
Yes, so i'm saying we'll spend over £5million more.

Without wishing to defend the case of the guy, and going from Bicks quote there, makes you wonder just how difficult it is to learn `basic english`within a year whilst playing in Turkey.......
Wonder how many of us could learn `basic turkish` enogh for passing imigration/foreign work permisssion laws in Turkey whilst living in England?
All a bit hypothetical and silly really, but unfortunately the difference between a good player playing or not.
Your point still stands but wasn't he playing in Greece?

Ultimately it all comes down to value for money (VFM)
And at £13m, Fletcher is about £8m overpriced
He's what I'd call an agricultural, archetypical Championship centre forward plucked straight from 70/80's style football.
Thanks for explaining VFM!
So he's a Championship Centre Forward (CF), who averages roughly 1 in 3 in the Premier League (PL) playing for very poor sides who create very little?
I think that obviously we could pick up somebody for cheaper from overseas but i trust Lambert to pick players who will improve us.

The quieter things are the more likely we are to be doing some business. Don't forget, non of our new signings have been called by the media other than Vlaar and that was only cause of a photo on twitter lol!
-
thank god that overweight lard is leaving. useless just like the previous manager
what a waste of 6m! even for mcleish what the fck was he thinking?
Hmmm £6mil really? I'm sure i read it was more like £4mil, still £4mil too much mind you....

It'll be like Christmas if true! It'll be another 30k+ off the wage bill!

I wouldn't write Delfounesso off just yet he is still only 21, and has shown he can score goals. Not saying he is going to make it, just saying he has the ability.
But this is the problem we are gambling on players who may or may not make it as prem players, we can't rely on these type of players for a whole season. Not saying some of these players won't make it, but i'd rather we had the luxury of blooding them gradually instead of putting them straight in the firing line. Trouble is, we don't.
Trouble is we have a lot of these 'he's only young' players at first team level. Lambert has done well as has purchases so that next season t the young guns will only get a game on merit.
I am curious to see Gary Gardner given a go - but beyond that I think we have to have more realistic expectations about our youngsters. I would be happy if Kieran Clark proves himself a top flight centre back next season.
Sorry just something that is bugging me, why do you keep spelling his name as Keiran even though he has a thread showing his name is spelt Ciaran?

If we don't bring in another 3 players at the very least I'd be shocked.
Trouble is I think the money has dried up. The timing of the vlaar\collins dea would suggest some restrictions are in place.
I think the player who we would miss the least but in would bring in the most cash would be Nzogbia. However PL was speaking of his importance to the team this very weekend - which would suggest nothing is imminent.
Ideally I would sell Nzog - £10m - buy Matt Philips for £7m - the remaining £3m (+ money from any other player sales) I would put towards a new keeper.
Why in the name of God would you want to spend £3million on a new goalkeeper when it's unlikely we're going to sell Given this summer?
I think we have been lucky with given in respect of form/injuries. I would prefer not to go into the season expecting that luck to hold out.
Should Given get injured we have Guzan and after that Marshall/Siegrist.
Our goalkeeping line up is the last thing that needs altering imo.
-
Fingers crossed MON comes in for him. Don't know why he's leaving it so long to make a bid. I'd imagine we're desperate to sell him.
Probably because MON leave all his transfers til the end of the window?

I played left back for 5 years as a kid, i might give Villa a ring to see if they want to give me a game-i've got no pace whatsoever but i know how to position myself properly and not dive in unnecessarily!!!

What did you expect? a Kompany-esque performance? It's still pre season!
Think people were just waiting for the first defeat to be negative for the sake of it.
This x 10000000000.
Some people aren't happy unless they're complaining about Villa!

christ can we still not **** defend?
It's a friendly man, calm down!
3:1!
still feeling calm?
Chelsea just lost 3-1 to Brighton, I wonder if their fans are crying....

Mat Kendrick @MatKendrick
Warnock gives the ball away, wins it back and then backheels it out of play
