If that's the case what will he do with bolaise as that's his main game?!

I've heard that he's a great RB....exactly what we need.  Can also play CB but Mile will be difficult to replace!

I was born in the old Loveday Street maternity hospital  (no longer there). I've never been able to establish whether or not it would have had a view of the VP floodlights. I do hope so.

Also a stroke of luck that you couldn't smell the sty from there....some guys have all the luck?

It's depressing how short people's memories are. A bit of perspective may reveal that he looked great when he came back from injury last season—critically at a time when the team was functioning and had some kind of balance.

Now the team is a mess and all the players are looking a bit pants. Yesterday was pretty much the nadir (hopefully) when you look that we had a defence of three right backs and Taylor and Nyland in goal.

It's unfortunate that last year's foundations were built on sand

Nothing to do with 'balance'.......other than falling over for NO apparent reason (alot of the time)!  So slow and ponderous on the ball....if you watch him often you will see the other players getting frustrated with him.....others making good movement into dangerous areas whilst Jack decides to take on 'yet another' player and either gets dispossessed or falls over (again)!.....he needs to be educated in the art of 'pass and move'......I'm sure Smith will be doing that!

Dean Smith is coming in at almost the same time as Steve Bruce did in 2016.

I am not interested in comparing them......but lets give the bloke a chance and support him.

    Agree 100%

Of course you are,  but it’s a discussion site, you’re meant to discuss things. You made a very sweeping statement saying he’s ready for the first team. Have you seen him play? What are his attributes?

If you looked at my other 2 posts on the subject of Bedeau you will see that I have watched him play several times and that's why my opinion is based on.

Our fitness will improve by retaining possession and not having to chase every game

Exactly....you use up far more energy chasing the ball!  Always try and stay on the front foot if possible!

Don’t forget before he joined us he played 1/2 a season for Bury in League 1.

Yes, I have seen quite alot of him and he always looked comfortable. Given that we are nearer league 1 than the PL at present, I say give him a go....certainly an upgrade on the Jed imo

I don’t know if this is sarcasm or not, he is a very good talent

Definitely NOT sarcasm!  Have seen him play quite a few times.  I know it's a 'step up' but I think he would be fine in the championship.  No doubt JT will know him quite well from last season. I say, give him a go!

We have Jacob Bedeau too, don’t forget

I agree with this ....I believe Bedeau is ready for the first team ....I have no doubt at all.  Bedau and Chester would be the best CB pairing at the club, at least until January!

Although needing time to implement his own ideas there's enough attacking quality in the Villa squad for Smith & Terry to go one better and get Villa promoted this season.

Through Terry's coaching, the back four will become more solid while the players Villa have through the middle and going forward are well used to more attacking football at their previous clubs.

Apart from Bolasie under Allerdyce? ?

Fair point, just seems like a way to appease the fans to me, get there high profile person that they couldnt get as manager.

Then again Terry seemed popular in the dressing room from what you all say, so makes sense in a way.

Shame you didnt appoint Smith sooner, like before we played Brentford ?

Lol....loved the last bit!  They were indeed very good to watch at Elland Road!

After the last 10 years and succession of owners failing to look after the basic needs of Aston Villa Football Club and almost running the club into the ground, you have to appreciate the way Doug ran the club when he was in charge. He had his shortcomings as an owner but no one can take away from him the love he had for the club.

    RIP Doug

Spot on....I said as much the other day on here.  We were never saw such dire financial problems under his ownership.  He also appointed some good managers and won a trophy or two along the way!

    RIP Sir Doug
