I posted this in the Man City thread, but I absolutely hate the narrative going around today that Man City are dirty cheats and immoral and deserve a big punishment etc etc etc. I'll hate it even more if we fall foul of FFP and end up in the same boat.

Football is spend to win, at every professional level. We have a system in place that tells us that we can't spend more than a certain amount, ostensibly to protect us from ourselves, so we don't overspend and end up going bust. That's how the system was sold to us, but it's not how it works. Bury were able to accrue debt they couldn't pay and get expelled from the Football League because of it, despite FFP being in place. Meanwhile Aston Villa and Man City can't spend money that they can easily afford to and that isn't putting their club into debt? Why?

Man City have certainly exploited some loopholes, but if they hadn't, they'd have hit the FFP glass ceiling and found the likes of Madrid, Barca and Man Utd buying up all their best players and keeping them below the elite tier of football clubs. How is that fair? What's unfair is this bullshit, unjust system that maintains the status quo and helps nobody.

Somebody really needs to investigate Real Madrid and Barcelona, some top level dodgy shit surrounding those two

Hause stays in the team for me. When Engels was in the team (not obviously all down to him) we were conceding plenty of goals and allowing a lot of shots on goal. This seems to have improved with the back 3 and Hause winning nearly every aerial ball.

I think I’d rather be nervous when Hause makes the odd stray pass then when the ball comes into our box 20 times a game from crosses and corners without Hause and the opposition have a field day.

I don’t know why you think we have improved in defence? We are still conceding shed loads of attempts at goal. We have conceded 76 shots on goal in the last 5 league games since switching to a back 3.

The number of suicidal passes by Hause negates the fact he is good in the air. It’s the only thing he is good at.

Engels is good in the air too, I’d pick him over Hause every day of the week

2 big points are being overlooked by this latest story, the first of which Is a bit of blatant common sense...why would he go to man utd?

If he is put up for sale he will have the pick of most teams, the only way they get to the top of the pile is simply blowing the other teams out of the water financially,  and (with the rebuilding job they have) I'm not so sure they can afford to do that!

I'd guess these stories are coming from their end to attempt to get into Jack's thinking, to try and get him to get familiar with playing for them. It's an old trick fergie used to use, I'd guess he has been offering a bit of advice here.

The second point would render this all pointless in that I'm not sure we can afford to let him go currently. Our owners have previously mentioned he IS aston villa, and most noises coming out mention what we all know, hes too important. This would play far more into what Guardiola intimated a few months back when he replied about his off putting value.

If this is the case the only way he is sold is if jack forces his hand, would that ever happen?....at least this summer?

My thoughts are that the only reason he leaves (if we stay up obviously) is if we simply cant turn down the offer.

I'd hope our owners thoughts on this figure match my own!

4 x his current salary at least plus a better chance of playing for England

Today's result was a real body blow, but we have averaged a point a game up until now and if we can maintain that up until the end of the season, I think that just might keep us up. We are still outside the bottom three (just) and the next two clubs are within a point of us, so all is not yet lost. It's going to be tight, but I'm sure the rest of the bottom three feel equally worried tonight.

I did the predictor, for the second time tonight. Both times, I had us staying up. On this occasion, a last day win at already relegated West Ham gave us safety and 15th place. All of the remaining clubs in the current bottom six, could have joined Norwich and West Ham in taking the drop, on the last day. It's going to be too close for comfort and I think we would need 40 points to pretty much guarantee safety, but I wouldn't want to bet against us. 🤞

I had us with 35 points with the predictor. I think we’re going down

What's the goals to minutes ratio. That's far more important.

    True

Whats with the lack of mins though?

Looks like he can finish according to YouTube but I’m always sceptical of YouTube highlights

He scored 5 in 6 games so he did have good start as was said

The  pretty much zero in 21 suggests this is a bad idea all round 😂

Not sure. I'd have like him as he's different to what we have already, he's 6'4, strong and gets round the pitch well. Wether he can get up to speed in the PL (hopefully not) is a question mark though

Moyes will coach any ability out of him within hours

    Dont worry

An extra midfielder is the least of West Ham’s problems

**** Anfield.  There's only one Villa Park.  It's the home of football.

Anfield is like a library. They sing YNWA pre kick off and then only make a noise when they score

If Liverpool don’t score you can hear a pin drop

    The place is a myth

The three saves in the first 10 mins and then the save where he palmed the ball on the crossbar, my god!!!

I'm perhaps overreacting but was that game the best performance we have seen from a Villa keeper?

    Spink in Rotterdam 👌

Another top performance- that’s every time he’s played this season.

I think it’s time to forget how he was last season.

Its not just the saves - one of which was absolutely stunning - but he’s gained composure and a bit of authority.

Whatever happens to him he’s done very well this season.

He had a mare against Man City
