What if they took us over, rebranded the whole works, erased our history, then a bunch of other billionaires take over at Swansea, Everton, Southampton and Fulham and we're still facing mediocrity?
But that's already happened to some degree, hasn't it? The only matter is how many millions/billions the owners have.
Yes it's happened to some degree in terms of millionaires buying clubs but we haven't sold our soul for it that's the point.
I'm saying they could virtually erase the Aston Villa we know and we still might not even be successful.
-
Yeh this annoyed me earlier.
Hodgson is a complete fool. If Townsend has popped up from relative obscurity this season (okay he was apparently good for QPR too) to being probably in the starting 11 at the World Cup, how can he basically say no new players are going to get a look in, when it's over 6 months away and we've got another friendly in March.

No thanks.
As above, I could take the away kit and possibly a stadium name change, but any further and I'd rather support an average team doing it the right way.

Then he should definitely be fit by Monday!

no bookies on the front?

I agree that Bowery can serve a purpose seeing out a game and I even think he'll score soon.
But Robinson really should have got on yesterday.
-
Haha, I just meant that even though I personally think he's a clogger from what I've seen, I'm not going to say he's a bad signing or he's never going to cut it.
You have to give him a chance.
Yep well put, I'd pretty much agree with that too.
Unfortunately there's a tendency to hoof to a tall player even if they are better with their feet and we have arguably 3 such strikers.
Thought he'd looked better paired with Benteke though and a proper goal will help his confidence.
-
To be 100% honest, I think he's just a clogger.
But you have to give him a chance.
You can criticize him, but realize that anything you say is incredibly premature.
Having said that...

i would go for a 5-3-1-1 formation, and immediately drop Westwood, Gabby and Weimann.
Guzan
Lowton Clark Vlaar Baker Luna
Bacuna Sylla El Ahmadi
Delph
Benteke
Just what i'd like to see i think Lowton can come back in now, have Bacuna further up the pitch. Sylla adds to our team and i think him and Delph work well, i think we need to force Delph further up with a different formation, Benteke can play loan man and El Ahmadi because i couldnt think of an 11th player
Alex?

i was just used to all our away wins being on the road
Now that you mention it, I'm struggling to remember an away win that we had at home.

I thought he was "the most natural finisher at the club". I'd say he's talented.
-
We made 7 changes so you can't really say Spurs reserves as if we had our full team out.

Yet another god-awful cup exit. No trophies this season but after 17 years I guess we're used to it.
A Spurs B team just beat us 4-0 at home. A Man City bumming to come, things are going to get worse before they get better.
Wow we've even lost a future game now. Ridiculous.

Blackpool want Ireland and Hutton? For a small fraction of their wages mind. And it's probably rubbish.

They already have Delf on loan and wasn't there another rumour about Bannan going there?
That's the whole bloody bomb squad shifted in one! And we'll get a good price for Tom Ince in return right?
Edit: That was Bannan to Holloway's Palace, got me thinking it was Blackpool.

Liverpool are bidding for Sakho I think.
If the glove fits...

This was worth a laugh this morning
From BBC gossip:
Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert believes striker Christian Benteke, 22, will remain at Villa Park despite strong interest from Liverpool.
Full story: Daily Star (external)
In fairness to the rag, the article doesn't seem to mention anything like the BBC tagline.

Thank Paul McGrath for internet gambling
Why?
I'm guessing because in cases like above the winnings have been credited and the slip hasn't been thrown away?
Bingo.

I don't imagine any defender will ever have Benteke in their pocket.

Is it wrong that I'd be slightly disappointed if we didn't win, just based on the last 2 games? Looks like we're going to cause everyone problems!
-
our home form is verging on poor.
we haven't played at home yet...*
except Malaga in pre-season, which we won.
*obviously you mean from last season, but is that really relevant?
-
Again, have to say 2 fits would be great.
Really like the first black away strip too.

I also saw someone from the fans forum the other night said Lambert said no 'marquee signings' would be made as it was unrealistic at this point. I wonder if this would class as a marquee signing to Lambert's way of thinking? and i wonder if Bent, Hutton and Given were moved on whether this would make a marquee signing any more realistic?
I don't think you'd call this a marquee signing though, despite the size of the transfer fee that it would take. He's not exactly a household name is he? I'd certainly never heard of him before we'd been linked.

I count one 'what if'
The kit has been claret and blue since 1887!
And then you agreed that a few changes would be acceptable but nothing major, in exchange for Champions League, which is arguably a fair deal.
