    Albrighton--Who the **** knows?

    -----------------Kozak-----------------

That would be Albrighton right on the wing and Who the **** knows? more central just behind Kozak, this would lead to someone sticking a fair amount of crosses in and someone to play close to Kozak and link up with him through the middle. I'd probably say Tonev as he has pace and he can also go out wide to do the same as Albrighton.

Yep got to be this or the 2 up front suggested, so a 442 (imagine that)

  2. I didn't actually hint at 5 at the back. Was thinking more five in the middle but the big man warming the bench. If it was up to me, I'd go 3-5-2. I'd drop Benteke because he has been poor recently plus carring a knock and there is always the option to bring him on as a sub. I'd also be tempted to throw Gabby up front. His pace through the middle could hurt them.

  3. Not sure we can actually credit the defence for that clean sheet. They missed one of the easiest chances I've ever aeen, hit the bar and should have had a penalty.

Sorry I went to the game guys. Good luck for the 26th and 28th.

Well there is Villa Fans mentality all over !

I know it hasn't been an easy few years guys but get a grip !

So our players are shit, our Manager clueless, the defence were terrible now they are lucky, the attack were lucky now they are terrible, Benteke is a waste of space, we never practice set pieces, Lambert has the tactical nous of a 4 year old and the Team are doomed.............I had to check the table to make sur ewe weren't bottom !!

Hey, I'm fully behind Lambert - always have been, and one of the few I might add.

Credit for sorting the defence out, it's been generally more solid.

I was merely pointing out that on occasions today in the first half it was woeful and had we not been against such a poor team we would have conceded. 99/100 times that open goal is scored, so for that reason you can't just look at the scoreline and say "another clean sheet, good defending" because it wasn't at times.

  4. Made the right choices and we got a decent result

Agree. Now is not the time to post about how people would have reacted and put other forum members down by saying "if this happened, this would happen" now is a time to relax and accept a good draw.

Actually, many of us are posting about how people did react. Lambert's getting slated for not starting Delph, Gabby and Weimann but it's blatantly obvious that they didn't start because they weren't fully fit.
The looked fine when they came on.

They may not have lasted 90 mins but they were clearly fit enough to start.

Gabby was blowing put of his arse after 20 mins. You wanted him to start and get subbed off after half an hour? Crazy.

  5. My latest Villa Park games. Struggling to remember the last win. Yee-har!

wish me/us luck for this one

What if they took us over, rebranded the whole works, erased our history, then a bunch of other billionaires take over at Swansea, Everton, Southampton and Fulham and we're still facing mediocrity?

    No thanks.

As above, I could take the away kit and possibly a stadium name change, but any further and I'd rather support an average team doing it the right way.

A lot of 'what ifs' in there.

You can never erase the history of the club, as that is there for the record books.  In that history however, the club has change its kit many many times, before settling on claret and blue.

If Red Bull came in to buy the club, changed the name of the ground, sponsored the shirts, gave us the Red Bull 'uniform' for the away kit I'd be okay with it.  Living in the UAE, I can tell you that the Man City profile over here is massive, yet they're still Man City. They are sponsored by Etihad and play at the Etihad, but they're still Man City. Etihad even means "United", but no one gives a shit, lol.

Aston Villa FC playing at the Red Bull Villa Park, owned and sponsored by Red Bull, competing for champions league football would be progressive evolution of the club for me.

I count one 'what if' ;)

The kit has been claret and blue since 1887!

And then you agreed that a few changes would be acceptable but nothing major, in exchange for Champions League, which is arguably a fair deal.

But that's already happened to some degree, hasn't it? The only matter is how many millions/billions the owners have.

Yes it's happened to some degree in terms of millionaires buying clubs but we haven't sold our soul for it that's the point.

I'm saying they could virtually erase the Aston Villa we know and we still might not even be successful.

  8. Yeh this annoyed me earlier.

Hodgson is a complete fool. If Townsend has popped up from relative obscurity this season (okay he was apparently good for QPR too) to being probably in the starting 11 at the World Cup, how can he basically say no new players are going to get a look in, when it's over 6 months away and we've got another friendly in March.
