  1. For the sake of my computer screen I kind of hope that isn't true. mantis why wouldnt you want ancelotti??
  2. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/aston-villa-specials/next-permanent-manager has ancelottis odds shortened purely based on the daily mail article saying he is signing next week. good to see though
  3. Also got them to the uefa cup final. I think his job at Boro was better than poor, but didn't pull up trees. It's a no from me, simply because I'd have greater confidence in what I perceive to be better candidates elsewhere. well he finished 14th in the league when he got into the uefa final though. would you be happy with a bottom half finish and uefa final but not winning it
  4. ive looked at mclarens career record and it still hasnt convinced me at all he should be our manager. he got middlesbough to a high of 7th 1 season, apart from that bottom half of the table.won the league cup and beat bolton. not a very hard challenge.poor england 50% win record which is good but it should be england were 7th in the world at the time but didnt get england to qualify for the euros for the first time in 14 years.poor then at twente people say he beat ajax and the rest but since 2006 they have always been top 4 anyway so it was never going to take much to win the league. alot bigger challenge to get villa in CL then failed at wolfsburg.simple as that NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR AVFC
  5. was gus poyet in the team when martin jol was there?? cant see gus going back to been assistant after been successful manager. but its probably a load of rubbish anyway
  6. just read martin jol's career stats and he looks impressive. has good win percentages, has the international experience, pl expierence , bought some quality players while he was there berbatov, lennon, bent, bale. so why are we no that interested on him on viila talk????
  7. even talk sport are saying that mclaren would be terrible for us.dont like the managers they think we should have though 1 said rafa and the other said curbishley. hope there wrong. no ancelotti named. has he been ruled out yet?
  8. houllier actually wanted us to wait for him maybe late august/september AFTER the season had started. what land does he live in. good decision by randy. the new manager i really am torn. i want someone who is a big name to pull in big international names i.e. ancelotti, van gaal but i also really want a manager who really gets into it like hughes and moyes. jumping around on the touchline but they just dont have the pull for big players. either way i want a manager who is going to be here long term, wants to be at the club, can attract good players, works with youth and doesnt see us as a stepping stone. was warming to hughes but then his agent is kia joorabchian and i feel he would play up like he has at fulham
  9. Time to give this board a break then. Which is good, as I am off to Lords tomorrow. Thing is we'll go away from here a couple of hours and come back to see 10-20 new pages, thinking we've missed something, frantically catch up and see it's all about nothing. I love it! very true. i love it to. ive fractured my wrist so that is all i will be doing for the next 6 weeks
  10. well i hope randy does what graham taylor said on ssn. get it all done and appoint someone in the next 7 days. none of this wait 4 weeks otherwise we just get left behind to much.
  11. when i was watching bbc news yesterday they interviewed a villa fan and asked who they want. i thought she might say moyes or hughes. no she said billic or chris hughton. obviously not a very ambitious person. lol
  12. ive been away for a while have the club announced a time scale for a new manager been appointed??
  13. i have gone for ancelotti because its just very rare you get a big name avalible who wants to stay in england but it does depend on what he wants to do with the club as he has been at chelsea and milan is he used to trimming wage bills and finding bargains. would still like moyes and hughes though in that order because of the passion on the touchline.thats the only thing i miss about MON
  14. theres suppose to be one wednesday
  15. cant wait for all these questions to be answered. hopefully wednesday should be the day when the announcement comes and we can all look forward to an exciting transfer window whoever the manager.
  16. Two years mean **** all. Not long enough. Lets hope and pray this is a misquote. Thats it going for youngster on the back of the new shirts, had picked Albrighton for the home one anyway. yeah 2 years is nothing only one more season and it will be the whole ashley young scenario again.next season will have to be incredible for downing to stay i think
  17. would be gutted if stewie leaves. just cant understand where all this has come from. we need a big manager to come in and help keep our best players (ancelotti has to be) and what i dont understand is why he was even doing a interview with the northern echo?? does he really want to move back up north??
  18. according to the mirror it will cost 3 million to get moyes. good piece of business imo
  19. i see this is still a one horse race, it has to be moyes. good.reliable, passionate and the rest
  20. Scunthorpe have a manager I think very good. lol
  21. Steve mclaren has said that he does not want the west ham job according to talksport. hopefully his not waiting for another claret and blue team
  22. we need someone who is fresh and new not rafa he will be houllier mk2. there needs to be a buzz around villa park again for the next season that will not happen with the management now. david moyes will do that he will motivate the players, get the right players in and the right ones going out, also knows how to build a good scouting network like he has at everton and he has age on his side to build a bright future at AVFC. RANDY PAY WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET DAVID MOYES IN!!!!!!!!! MOYES MOYES MOYES MOYES!!!!!!!!!!
