  1. If he is crafty and he does not have the money that he said he has then i hope he doesn't pass the due diligence test.

If he is is not crafty and has the money then i'm sure he will pass.

The last thing we need is someone coming in with false promises and messing up our club

A £30m net spend for mid-table championship finish would be an unforgivable outcome for any manager/ transfer committee overseeing such a poor outcome. The Championship is surely an easy league to buy your way out of. It's very simple, sign quality players for that division and they will blast us out of it.

You are clearly showcasing your lack of knowledge on football, it is not that simple furthermore your forgetting the key fundamentals such as creating a good team spirit, a cohesive understanding of how the each other plays, understanding the tactics ect. The championship is not a league where a team can buy their way out, teams that have done this have had a structure in place. We lack a structure.

Things do not work themselves out because money has been spent on supposedly quality players..

  3. What we cannot afford to do is keep chopping and changing our manager. It took Karanka nearly three seasons to build a team capable of promotion.

If we are gong through a rebuilding process, despite the amount of money that we may spend, a top 6 finish could be a real possibility, and if thats the case Di Matteo needs to stay on because the major problem this club has had is continuity.  Its going to be extremely difficult to build a promotion winning side that has been built halfway through the summer..

Why are you concerned about his back room staff? Pearson would have been a concern as all his staff are at Leicester but don't see why this is a problem with RDM.

for me this is a good appointment. Has experience in both leagues, big name and plays attacking football. Certainly better than having fist face or McCarthy.

have a good feeling about this.

Oooh Roberto di Matteo oooh Roberto di Matteo

I do agree Pearson would have been a greater worry, i've been doing some brief research since my last post and i've noticed that he had Atiillo Lombardo and Massimo Battara as well as Eddie Newton as part of his backroom staff at Schalke, they seem to be big names I hope they can have a positive effect on our squad if he decides to bring them.

  5. I will support him 100% however i do have concerns about;

    1) His backroom staff

    2) His knowledge of the transfer market

I really want him to prove me and the rest of his doubters wrong.  He could easily be our Karanka or Flores!!

    Welcome RDM

  6. Pearson for me is the better candidate than RDM.

The squad needs a major rebuild, RDM does not have experience in doing that and although he could acquire the experience whilst doing that at out club its a risky move.

Pearson knows the lower leagues inside and out, i'm sure he could make the right signings for us, There are gems throughout the lower leagues that we may not be aware of.

It would be very hard to trust RDM in the market and with the budget, unless there was a technical director in place that had significant knowledge to support him.

  7. Well the more questions we have about our new chairman the more uncertainty there is..

These questions need to be answered by the chairman and the group.

Didn't they try to purchase us last summer but talks broke down due to a crash in the Asian markets?

This doesn't seem straight forward as a Man City takeover..

  8. Quote

That's the view of Neil Warnock, a man that knows the league better than most.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ , Warnock was reacting to the news that Villa had been taken over by Dr Tony Xia. He also ruled himself out of a shock move to Villa Park.

He stated: “I saw the interview with the chairman and I think they’ve already decided who they’d like to manage the team.

“Steve Hollis and the group who’ve been there have decided who they want and it depends on what happens when the Chinese come in because they’re talking of spending £30 million.

“There’s no reason to spend that kind of money to get promotion from the Championship, but it doesn’t half help I suppose!

“Sometimes it’s a hindrance. The Championship’s one where you need team spirit, camaraderie and the fans behind the team home and away. You need to get characters in there."

The problem is with QPR they bought mercenaries, just there for a big wage. As people have pointed out, morale and work rate will be so important with our new players.

If we find a manager that can identify these players..

All won't be done in one season it will take time to build

  10. This is not going to be easy..

These Championship teams that are being mentioned did not build a squad in one summer..

There needs to be a sense of realism i mean look how much QPR have spent and look where they are.

I think we absolutely have to get promoted next season.

2 seasons outside the mega-money premier league deal, and parachute payments starting to decrease, and we would end up the next Leeds.

Even if we got promoted second season, 2 seasons outside premier league will cost at least £200m.  We'll end up struggling to stay in the Premier league after that point.

I understand your point, it is vital that we do get promoted next season however i just cannot see this happening.

Unless we keep hold of our best players i.e (Ayew, Gueye,Amavi, Traore), clear the deadwood and sign the right players, have the right manager with the right backroom staff. Then we will have a chance.

The real question is how can AVFC achieve promotion next season?

  12. Things are very interesting now that we have been sold, we are the hot topic on football forums amongst Championship clubs because they're not sure what to expect from us now..  The first step has been made, now we have several more before Pre season.  I think we are going to be very aggressive in the transfer market however that does not always result in success.

This is the best chance the club has in scrapping everything that is bad at this club and creating something new that is sustainable. I look at a Southampton & Swansea and they have a philosophy that is the blueprint of their infrastructure, which is what AVFC need. We currently lack an identity, i only hope that we are now able to build a real footballing identity.  As much as i want promotion next season, i feel like if we throw tons of money into the market we could become a yoyo club.

Next season will be tough, i would be happy with a top 6 finish with signs of real progress at the very least.

Rome wasn't built in a day..

  13. Well wow.. this takeover has gathered a lot of pace this week. What will this mean for AVFC?

I personally think for Aston Villa FC, this summer is going to be huge. The new owners will not be messing about, they want Premiership and European football ASAP. There will be alot of money spent this summer, Comolli will be brought in, he has probably identified a list of players that he believes that will take us up this season and RDM is the part of this formula.  I am not to fussed about RDM because i can only imagine that these new owners will be relentless, if we find ourselves in bad form i can see RDM being sacked right away with a manager put into place.  I am very certain that will be very aggressive in the transfer market this summer.

    Interesting times ahead..

Wyness, Corleone, and Chinese owners. I'm not sure that is bad at all.

Not wild about RDM but he's not the awful appointment some seem to think....not convinced it'll be him anyway, Moyes fits this scenario better.

Is he the latest to be linked now?

I don't do Twitter so I may be misunderstanding this, but scrolling down the Twitter feed I notice that he has also followed the Birmingham Mail, AVFC and AVFC Birmingham Mail in early March.

I've noticed this too, he has also retweeted an article about a Chinese Consortium buying Everton around Feb.

And he is still a Shareholder at Everton.

  16. Goldson from Brighton looks very good he will be a future prem player, he's from Wolverhampton so i'm sure he wouldn't mind a move back to the midlands .

I also like the look of Chris Martin for Derby.  If Alan Judge recovers i wouldn't mind him too.

We need a team that can go up to Rotherham on a Tuesday night and not get rolled over. This current crop would sadly

  17. This is the only good news we can have because we need to get the ball rolling.

I'm happy that this group want to break even by the very least, if this is true, they must have a cohesive business and football strategy in place to make this happen. What will be interesting is whether they are going to be hands on or are they are going to be behind the scenes and employ people to run the club?

One thing that i am dead certain on is if our club is going to be Chinese owned then the name of our football ground will change.
