  1. Clicky Please don't spread it outside this group yet. VT wowers will be honorary guildies until they move to the right server. :-) Now to spend xmes on the site design.
  2. ... and the teamspeak server is up. Details when I've had a play.
  3. I've bought healnoctus.com
  4. Are we sticking with the domain name? I'll buy a domain for it if we are - need to point the teamspeak server at something.
  5. by blandy There's a few things that don't quite add up, from tonights game in Sheffield, and I severely doubt that this report will make them any clearer. Have you ever seen a fat bloke do something that just moments later he'd feel a bit daft about? Well I have. But we'll come to that later. Best to do things in their proper order. It's monday night, it's Sky TV monday night football, so that'll be a less than full ground then and a dull game. Er, no actually. You see, Sheffield Utd saw sense. They charged 15 quid a ticket (£10 concessions) for this one. Well done sirs. So the ground and the away end looked pretty full from Row R. Aren't clubs supposed to rip us off? Not this United (though Man U don't seem to have cottoned on. 35 quid for a BBC FA cup game next month! but anyway...). A slightly later than planned arrival in Sheffield was soon made up for amongst friends in the Red Lion. And good beer always helps, I find. Just the pesky raffle ticket seller to dodge (see numerous threads) though he did buy me a pint . Following the chat and drinks, a short walk to the ground, and we emerged into a Bramall Lane ground that has been smartened up a fair bit since the last visit. Best of all they've filled the corners in at the away end, so the chill winter winds don't take your breath away, or at least they wouldn't if it was cold. But it wasn't. It was warm-ish. Wierd. Villa started with Baros and Sutton up front, Davis in for Gareth Barry. And they started really well. Straight up and at 'em, and within a couple of minutes we'd scored. One thing that hasn't changed is the view from the way end, so I'm not sure who actually got the goal. It might have been Petrov, or Davis, or,er ,Sutton. No one seemed to know. I thought Petrov. Sutton caused trouble, the ball came out to the edge of the box and a deflected shot (all that could be wrong, I had a crap view). We had further chances and really should have scored at least one more. Sheff U looked well dodgy at the back. Sutton missed the best one. Late on Sheff U had a chance but the lad whacked it wide. It was noticeable that though he was doing OK, Bouma was having difficulty stopping crosses coming in from his side. At half time I thought perhaps Warnock would be telling his team to make more of that flank. As it happened, Shefield United started off the second half like we had the first, and after maybe 5 or 6 minutes of action (down the far end again) a huge throw was nodded in by a blade and the ground roared it's approval by singing about maggots and chip butties. There's now't as queer as folk (or sommat, like). Truth be told the long throws, and they were long, were causing all kinds of problems. They're not a long ball side, United, but they are direct, and after another 5 or 10 minutes they scored again. Someone hooking a volley in after more head tennis. It was at this point that the fat bloke a Mr Patrick Kenny decided that he'd do a kind of strutting giving it large type of walk in fron t of us lot. Fair play, he'd been getting some stick about his domestic arrangements and lack of one eybrow, but before anyone could mutter up another chorus of you fat, er, fellow, Steven Davis lobbed a cros in, Sutton knocked it down and Baros lashed in. Kenny turned away and argued with a defender. We grinned. Stuart Taylor made a coule of excellent saves, the game revolved around free kicks (every one having to be taken from exactly the right place) and no one scored any more goals. A fair result, a game that would have kept the TV viewers interested, but something was lacking from the excitement. I think they call it football. Villa were again obdurate in the face of the onslaught. Warms the cockles, after so many seasons of meek surrenders. Some marks. Taylor - a couple of fine saves, some good catches and a mistake or two. Dodgy kicking. Throw it out sometimes. 7 Olly - 6. Solid Bouma 6 (Hughes 6) Gary Cahill - 6. Incredibly harshly booked. Ridge 6 (went to LB when Boma went off) Gaby - 5 - didn't get in the game Steven Davis- 5. He's not a left sided player. He's wasted out there, but did a job. Gav - 6. Started really well, but as the game went on had less influence. Stan - 7. Classy touches and turns. Good free kicks. Good game from him. Sutton 7 - showed all his experience and class. (JPA on late not enough time to mark) Baros - 7 - crikey. He looked interested and played well. Thanks to Sheff U for the ticket prices. See you next year. I think they'll stay up, just about.
  6. Does the warrior tier5 have wheels?
  7. How did he get in? I didn't realise we'd opened the guild up to others yet. :-P

  9. My favorite too :-)
  10. Please don't remind me. I'm bitter enough without that.
  11. I'm surprised I've not been gkicked. It's slightly different for me at the moment as I have no access all week. But I stopped raiding because of the guild's poor attitude - and that's when we did have 40+ turning up for raids. I said that pissing the same people off every raid would come back and bite. VT Villans anyone?

  13. by avfcinwales Potentially no. In my long time as a Villa fan, the only era to compare has to be when Ron Bendall owned the club. As we all know he controlled the club through the most successful years of modern times, he had a decent manager in charge, he helped build a decent team, and made continued improvements to the ground. Sure I expect some pratts to blurb on about bribes and dishonesty but Bendall gave enough backing to Saunders, to build that great winning side, we all rave on about. These days we have the new dream team now fully in place and its hard to find fault so far, in fact its hard to see how it could realistically be much better. Its too early by far to suggest the same end result will be achieved especially quickly, but so far there is nothing to hint it can't be anything but good times ahead. In fact if you look hard into the past 50 years its hard to see a setup as suitable for the times. As a club and this is based purely on my memory not Lerwill's facts, we have never had such a complete setup, ever. Even under Bendall, Saunders had battles for players finance, he missed out on Rodney Marsh and others because their wages would be too much, but he found alternatives and we prospered, the ground was never filled, we never fully benefited from the glory, achieved, but we won things, we won and won. Today soccer is a bigger business, its media rich, there are more pressures, there has been a huge influx of foreign players, its impossible nowadays to build a successful UK based side I'd suggest, and that needs a different mentality from the top right down. That's why we are so lucky, so incredibly fortunate, that Randy Lerner took us on. He's built himself, in 3 months a superb looking mix of high powered businessmen full of modern ideas with top level experience. If they can't deliver there's no hope. When you look elsewhere in the Premiership, even Europe, no one can touch us apart from the big few and some would question Man Utd have it as good, although they do have the huge experience and base of their past success as an edge, as Chelsea have their owners money. We already have a very decent manager, with a track record he's maintained so far, and as long as he gets the right backing he should continue to do so, its hard to believe but we really haven't ever had it potentially this good, even ever. Wonder how many fans have really appreciated how big the potential within the club now is, how big the potential opportunity is, how big we could become. Will they achieve it? Can't see why not can you ?
  14. ah, looking in the wrong forum... jeez.
  15. by ChrisVillan In a period of seemingly eternal away games, Villa head to Wigan for a Sunday lunchtime fixture looking for their third league win in a row. FA Barclays Premiership JJB Stadium Sunday 19th November 2006 KO 13.30 In an unusual twist of events (well, one has to freshen things up, doesn't one?) I thought I'd begin with the team news for tomorrow's showdown in deepest pie country. Wigan have doubts over two key players with Rollerskates Heskey (calf) and Arjan de Zeeuw (toe). Scouse full-back dynamo Leighton Baines also has a calf worry and David Cotterill has a groin problem. For Villa, Gareth Barry looks likely to return from his back injury, but Gav McCann misses out through suspension after picking up his fifth booking at Goodison last Saturday. Our delightful local paper, the Evening Mail, is reporting that Stiliyan Petrov has a suspected pulled hamstring. It also seems safe to assume the back four will remain from the Everton game, with Olly Mellberg slotting in at right back to replace the injured Aaron Hughes, and Gary Cahill partnering Liam Ridgewell at centre half. Despite our stunning start to the season, the odd doubt had begun to creep into Villa fans. It was understandable to an extent. I believe this season is about more than results but it is impossible to suggest that my fellow fans who hold the result as paramount are wrong. And so the longest unbeaten run in the country, from a team nigh-on relegated last time out, was offset by the number of draws, and by the fact that Villa hadn't won away from home. I disagreed, but football is of course about results and scoring more than them and all that. But here we are, one week on from the achievement of that elusive away win, seeking our third win in a row. What may look to the outsider like a nothing game, could well be a big hint that we don't intend our great start to be a fluke. There was a lot of discussion before and after Villa's defeat at Liverpool, both online and in the pub. Looking ahead to our next three games - Blackburn (H), Everton (A) and Wigan (A) - the big question was what do we expect from that little run against three teams that caused us problems last season. Four points? Six points? NINE!? I certainly wouldn't have turned my nose up at six points if I'm honest, but here we are staring down the barrel of three wins in a row. I think that would be superb. In fact, in the interests of symmetry, Villa should win. Obscure I know, but despite a large amount of, "Wigan have been found out" rhetoric and their not-so-special start to the season, they go into this game looking for not their third, but their fifth league win on the bounce. Presumably three from one and four from another would be preferable all round. Those wins were Man City (H), Fulham (A), Bolton (A) and Charlton (H). The latter may be a given but I'd argue the previous three are not. That is no reason for fear however. They've had a great run but Wigan are no great shakes and this certainly isn't one to put down to the inevitable. It is winnable, though I'd take a draw from this one I think. Far be it from me to second guess any manager who isn't in charge of England, or David O'Leary, but I think Paul Jewell will be looking at their run and telling his players, "we've got four in a row and Villa aren't really any better than a couple of those teams". Let's show him we are. So, once again the travelling army of Villans will play a huge part as they always do (just in case you haven't noticed, I think we have superb away support), and we could be in for another battle on the pitch. It's that kind of battle that I think we are actually ready for these days. Gritty Villa? Love it. Here's predicting a win, and actually believing it. 2-1, goals from Barry and Gabby, and one from Lee McCulloch, seeing as he's decided he's a goal machine all of a sudden. Come on you Villa boys! ChrisVillan
  16. I think he's piseed off, but he's not pissed off. It's all everyone else's fault but he doesn't blame them. He's too busy to do it all on his own, but he won't promote anyone. and vague mentions about TBC preparations being made without telling anyone. VT Villans anyone?
  17. Bugger, I bet that this gets me too. :-(
  18. Sharded due to -dkp or something? If so, why? Thats just idiotic. No, because he couldn't get into the raid o.O
  19. My hotel still has the WoW port blocked
  20. Are you serious? Priests can dispell? If I've got 5 mins spare tomorrow, shall I setup our very own teamspeak server?
  21. They still have 40 mans?
