this reminds me of the time my (now sadly deceased) friend and me were doing a bar together at an event in a local venue that the pub we worked for at the time had the license for. It was an all female audience for sure. I can't remember the organisation though. Mind you it'd be about 25+ years ago now. We had to provide a free glass of wine on entry and so we set up our table, bowties on and everything and we pre poured a few glasses so that there wouldn't be a hold up for wine being poured unneccessarily. Anyhow we did a row, or about 5/6 glasses of red and then the rest of the table taken up with white (it being the 90's having both kinds of wine was the height of fashion in the Welsh countryside dontcha know) but it wasn't our first rodeo n that. Cue Millie Tant, full on accusing us of sexistly pouring more white than red, and us foolishly protesting it was a purely functional decision etc. Her and her friend took a glass of red after their dressing down of us and they were the only two that left that table once everyone had walked in.

Did you end up in the boardroom with Lord Amstrad after they all asked for a refund?

For me it should be a loyalty discount. Have your season five years you get five percent off and that increases by one percent for every year you keep renewing. Promotes loyalty and rewards long term ticket buyers. Have a season ticket for 40 years, 40 percent off for you.

Of course that system would require some kind of picture authentication. Otherwise it would be a resellers dream.

I don't think that they want to promote loyalty. They want the churn so that new seats become available.

I'm not saying that I agree with them. but their strategy appears to need available seats for GA+.

Hmmmm.... okay - Would they have needed ID to go to the game?

As I understand it, you need ID to collect the ticket. It's not checked again at entry as that would cause chaos.

What did you do with it?

What's the situation if you've brought a ticket and you can't make it? Does it still go down in your booking history if you can't make the game?

If you've managed to get an away ticket, someone you are drinking with in the Dam will have it.

My wife has just bought a galaxy smart watch LTE version. She wants to be able to have calls to her mobile and her watch and choose wear to answer them. Is there a plan or sim that allows this that isn't financially restrictive. She is currently on a smarty tenner a month plan.

WearOS watches use an eSIM. AIUI, you can have it cloned with your main number or it can be separate. Most networks offer eSIMs.

Wouldn't it have been a good idea to ask this before purchase?

  8. At least part of the problem is that many of these polls are still conducted by phoning people.

That will always lead to a bias favouring the opinions of older, more conservative responders.

The (outsourced) cyber security guys who updated her set up suggested it was malware. However, it was year's ago and I wasn't that close to the actual cyber stuff, just talked her through whether she needed to report the breath to the ICO (she did) as customer data was breached. If I can't get my wife to keep security apps on her phone do you think I can get her to update her apps when needed?

It's automatic by default on Android - I assume the same on IOS.

I still wouldn't spend money on AV as she won't be keeping that updated either (even if it's doing nothing).

It's a difficult enough battle getting wife to have antivirus/malware and a vpn on her phone and that's after my sister in law's business was hacked via a breach on her phone (suspected virus via Facebook) and they lost over £20k.

Much more likely to be account takeover, not malware on  a phone. If it was malware on the phone, it would effectively be a zero day and AV wouldn't help.

There is zero value having av on a phone as long as you keep the os and apps up to date.

Direct business deal with EE for iPhone 15. 36 month contract. £33 per month plus £10 up front. 50gb. Pretty good no?

As it's business, are those prices ex-VAT?

I don't think I'd ever sign a contract that long for a piece of glass I'm carrying around every day.

I've bought Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 for a one off purchase.

Turns out it doesn't include Outlook so I've got to use the online 365 version that comes with adverts pushed into your inbox, or you have to pay for the monthly subscription. They are absolute ****. It's all a bloody big rip off. I've used Outlook on my home computer for 30 odd years perfectly happily. Why can't they just bloody let me carry on? Hate it.

Just keep giving them your money, that's bound to influence their behaviour.

There seem to be two types of believer (any religion):

Those who cherry pick the bits that suit them, and conveniently disregard the bits that don't

    and

those that buy the whole enchilada, down to the most absurdly specific detail.

I don't know which is more worthy of ridicule.

You shouldn't discriminate. Ridicule both types equally

  15. A bit late to this thread. I'm an atheist because I reject the claims of theism as they have failed to meet their burden of proof. I do not "believe there is no god" for any value of god or gods.

Christmas is completely secular. Which parts of the celebration come from the Bible? Most believers don't know how many wise men there were - or whether they were kings. Most believers don't know that the gospels all describe different events and scholars believe that all the baby Jesus narrative was added to the anonymous story generations after it was written, in very high-form Greek, 60-150 years after the events portrayed in the story. Most believers believe the gospels were written by the names given to them.

The RCC fought for many years to block the translation of the bible into other languages so they could continue to dictate what it said rather than let people read it. Which was probably wise as the god of the Bible is clearly massively immoral.

Fair enough. But it is a strange phenomenon, is it not?

Yes, but I don't have time to look into it if there is a workaround.

This is still happening, and it only seems to happen with the BBC news/sport apps.

I copied this link from a BBC article, using the 'share' icon:

Sweden midfielder Olsson on ventilator in hospital - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68411593

Pasted it into the link box in a VT thread, like this: Link

And, as you can see, it seems to link not to the BBC, but back to this thread.

Then don't do it. Just post the link (and an extract). Don't use a "link box".
