Victoria 3

From Paradox. Anyone else keen? Releases on the 25th, so just a few days off. I loke Pradox games, but this one feels even more special as it's been requested for so long by fans.

Hyped for it but bit annoying they promoted as being game pass day one then pulled it.

Yeah, agreed. And my hype kind of died as I ventured into looking at the economy in some more detail. I am not sure this even close to Viccy 2 in terms of simulating it. And I also fear capitalism is a bit gimped compared to socialistic ideals which isn't much fun in terms of variety of gameplay. I have gone from day 1 purchase to 'hold on for reviews and gameplay vids' now. GamePass would have been perfect.

Never played it tbh, thought think I may have picked it up on steam sale at some point, so will maybe have to go back to it.

How easy is Viccy 2 to get into compared to other Paradox stuff? Most of my hours have been CK2/3. Bit of Stellaris and HOI4, only recently started properly with EU4 since picked it up on Humble Bundle. Found Stellaris and CK the easiest to get into. HOI took a bit longer, think I'm at the point where I know what I'm doing but well off being any good at it. EU4 I'm still learning the ropes.

Haven't played it. I based that on others descriptions and my friends worries as well. He played A LOT of Vic 2. So I am in the same boat as you. 😅

I have played a lot of CK3 and love it, Stellaris I enjoyed as well but I sort of left it years ago after about 60 or so hours. Imperator Rome a played a lot as well.

This one I've not tried, in part because reviews seemed poor. Assume you are a fan?

Yeah, loved it. Unfortunately it died relatively recently, something I sort of caught wind of during a recruitment meeting with the company sometime before they announced the 'pause in development'. I love ancient histroy and Rome specifically, so that plays a part as well. They did a MASIVE overhaul after the poor release, and it was essentially a new game with the Marius update.

Also, I caved and pre-ordered Victoria 3 this morning. 😅

Even still worth picking up? As appears to be available for less than £4. Guessing by died you mean they've just stopped releasing dlc for it?

I just got CK3 and I am a little bit lost. I found EU4 pretty simple to get into.

If you can get Imperator for that it's a no brainer. I also bought it on sale for a pittance, and I heartily recommend it. Yes, they moved the dev team over to other projects no it's dead in that sense.

Viccy 3 is a mixed bag so far. Overall I am having fun, but there are some bugs and warfare is kinda' shit IMO. I think it looks very promising with a decent foundation for the future. I can see myself pausing it a bit after 40 or so hours to wait for some DLC.

Assume you haven't played CK2? Guessing you've already done the tutorial in CK3? Where do you think you are getting lost with it?

I'm feel like I've found EU4 harder than CK, though it's possible I just haven't put in enough hours yet. Most Paradox stuff can be pretty overwhelming at first. Think I did an Ireland start in CK2 that helped learn the game initially. Pretty sure the CK3 tutorial is an Ireland start as well.

Yeah think I'll have to check it out. I liked the sound of it but initial reviews had put me off, though if improved and that cheap it's definitely worth a go.

Fair enough. Same as a lot of reviews seem to be saying. I'll hold off and hope it lands on game pass soon I think. Got FM out soon and also only recently started Disco Elysium which looks like could take a while.

An absolute shit tonne of menus. I know EU4 is the same but I feel like I 'get it' a bit more.
