The Irish Ranger Wing are up there with the best I believe. Highly respected and pretty much never heard about. In, out, job done, home

Yep, but people assume because we are "neutral" and not at war that they don't do anything.

 

Aren't they used by a lot of other militaries for covert ops? read somewhere 60-80% of their missions are covert, with the rest being fairly standard peacekeeping

The Irish Rangers are excellent soldiers but their deployments are generally confined to training missions and this inevitably limits their operational experience. As Special Forces are a national asset no one who is any good puts them under a UN Chain of Command, which is the normal structure used to deploy the Irish military. Adding them to the basket of deployable SF from the English speaking world would undoubtedly be welcomed but isn't going to happen imo.

 

Incidentally the Aussie and Kiwi SAS are first class and highly experienced.
