  1. i have unfortunately, we should have been all over him like flies round shit when GH had his health problems and ancelotti was sacked. but while there are still top quality managers floating around i refuse to stoop to the low levels of mark hughes the lowest standard we should be setting ourselves is moyes, a decent manager who has shown he can produce results on a yearly basis and keep a club the same level historically as us, in the top 7. he would have the added bonus of having a financially supportive owner who may be able to match moyes ambitions which are publically stated as being higher than 7th. moyes in my view would be the worst i would be happy with. so all this talk of unproven or average managers who havent proved anything from fans is quite eye opening. it seems expecations for our club have hit an all time low ? we have lots of positives which should have top managers at least having a double take over and with the persuasive tones coming from randy, i would hope he could win over someone of a decent calibre who will promoted the club in a positive light and bring back the success we all need. its an ideal chance to get a top manager, so why settle for meh? Like who tho? These managers are all available; Marco Van Basten Frank Rijkaard Bernd Schuster Louis Van Gaal Quique Sánchez Flores
  2. If Ancelotti is taking a year off why would he insist the 1 year managerial clause in his chelsea conract be removed?
  3. It would certainly be the WOW factor and put us back on the football map accross Europe. Could see him bringing in a quality signing or two..Plus would be brilliant for our younger players
  4. This Also take a good look at his Netherlands team too. Awesome! They should have won Euro 2000.. Quality manager and would take us forward BIG TIME...
  5. Yes I believe the property is owned by Houllier and Lerner is meeting Deschamps for talks..Also recommended by Houllier.. I love Houllier
  6. Deschamps next Villa manager...Watch this space
  7. Im one for delving into stuff over the net and came accross this interesting article.. Its about Rijkaard and what he achieved at Barca etc.. Some may like a read as he remains a target for the managerial possition.. link to original article One thing I would like everyone to notice in this article is that Rijkaard was ALWAYS bringing kids through...ALWAYS thinking of the future of the club...He dosnt sit back in the past and is always trying to move into the future of modern football.. You could say Messi plays a huge part in his future of a future player, he certainly added alot of imput into the player's game.. People talk of Hughes, Martinez etc but if we are serious about the next appointment...Yes a gamble it may be..But I dont think we go too far wrong with Rijkaard and his vision..

  9. So?....the onl;y DEFINATE approach we know of is to a man in work - that was made 9 days ago - do you not think we have approached others? All depends on the clause the board have given themselves, as none of the above have ever managed in the Premiership...Yet for some strange reason the 60 year olds that are advising Lerner and co' seem to think its a neccessity..
  10. Just a handfull of decent managers currently out of work; Marco Van Basten Frank Rijkaard Bernd Schuster Louis Van Gaal Quique Sánchez Flores
  11. Would be a brilliant appointment but can he speak English? Brilliant is a bit OTT, hardly pulled up any tree's at Atletico even with that strikeforce! Played pretty decent football with both Atletico and Benfica, the guy is well driven and a winner.. Very ambitious and eager to get places.. I like his attitude.. He will shift out the moaners and work on the youth, which is what we need. He has good connections in the game and it wont be long before we see his name amongst the great managers.
  12. Would be a brilliant appointment but can he speak English?
  13. Im still waiting for the General to answer my question on why the next manager must have Premiership Experiance.
  14. THEY DONT EXIST! Moyes, Hughes none of them have EVER built a dynasty..Why would they suddlently start to now? How are any of these managers well clued up on the untapped market? How have any of these managers ever proven to build on total football? If you want to continue Houlliers work and have a young manager build a dynasty they should have appointed Deschamps...Yet because they are arsing about looking for "Premiership Experiance" they are losing out on such appointments.. The next one is Rijkaard, he can do the above...Young, carry on where Houllier left off, build a dynasty etc...But again,he may be over-looked because like Wenger, Fergie, Ancelotti, Mancini etc he would have NO Premierleague Experiance upon joining us :x
  15. Benitez and McClaren have been ruled out time for another poll?
  16. The club probrably have advisors that are aged 60+ and quite frankly havnt the faintest idea of the modern game. Barcelona are turning Manchester United inside out, its just an isight to how far we have to travel as a club to ever be successful again. Yet names like Coyle and Martinez will never get us nowhere near those levels. If the club have any ambition what so ever we need to go all out and bring Rijkaard to the club. I would have loved Deschamps but Rijkaard can do a similar job of moving the club MASSIVELY forward.. He is manager thats "in touch" with Barca and the modern game...He "knows" what is required to get to that level, he knows the calibre of players required, he knows what level the youngsters need to aspire too. He will raise to the ambitions(if they have them) of the board.. Of course we can just plod along for the next 10 years and hire Moyes, Hughes, Coyle and co'.. We may win the odd League Cup.
  17. It shows total lack of ambition(this may be a bit strong a word..But lack of scope, vision maybe?) by the club if they limit their search to Premiership experianced only. Here we have Barcelona football club leading the way in football..They are getting further ahead and sooner or latter change would need to come from Aston Villa if we are EVER going to be successful again. Premiership managers are behind the times when it comes to total football, keeping the ball, movement, vision, passing etc. Year after year the clubs in the Premiership are spending millions on players from the continent where players are better coached.. Yet you limit your search to bring in such manager, in favour of sticking with "old hat" Premierleague managers? WHY is this? Man City, Chelsea,Arsenal and now even United are using the core of their squads from the continent, to catch up, or keep up with the Barca's of this world...All the rest of us are left standing. I thought the appointment of Houllier was a step in the right direction, finally we have a man that would have insight to modern technics and training programs that would start to take us forward.. When is this club gonna find the "next" Arsene Wenger for example? A manager that came to the Premiership with no experiance of the English game, yet has kept Arsenal in the top 4 for many seasons using very little net spend(the "only" manager to do so in the whole top 6 let alone the top 4). I suppose the answer to that is NEVER because for some strange reason we can only employ a "Premiership experianced" manager only..
  18. Yeah right, Owen flippin Coyle, or Martinez...Like they are bound to know where the next Fabregas, Henry, Ronaldo are..I cant wait!! Ones at Bolton and the other at Wigan after spending time at the highs of Swansea City... Nothing like managers with knowledge of the untapped European market...Get them in.
  19. Great news that Steve McClaren and Hughes are out of the running The list shortens but the big names are still on there..
  20. Inter Milan is a blot on his record because he is on the way down. He has lost it at the top. Nearly destroyed Liverpool with his expensive flop signings. His best days are like Houllier's, stuck in the past. Liverpool were in decline during his latter days and the fans wanted him out. Him wanting to sign Heskey from us is enough to tell anyone that his best days are behind him.
  21. Be seriously disappointed if its Rafa..Liverpool struggled big time trying to get the man out of Anfield.
  22. A selection of quotes in the telegraph from when he was at Fulham, that would tick all the boxes for me and if I remember correctly he had them playing nice football, also won Besiktas their first trophy for 8 Years while in charge. Count me in. http://tinyurl.com/3jll6cs Blimey, we are seriously scrapping the bottom of the barrel now arnt we? One guy has came to the club and expressed his desire to take on the job..This man helped re-invent a new model into Barcelona FC..He won 2 titles and a CL with them and they hadnt won a thing in 7 years.. He is a massive name in football, has loads of connections, plays beautiful football, excellent at coaching and bringing through the youth. Its a flippin no brainer.....Frank Rijkaard step froward..
