  1. Your voting for who you would "like" not who you "think" will be manager..
  2. Come on guys we all know Deschamps is the best guy..He has achieved everywhere, he is young, modern, has all the right connections, he well respected.. Come-on he is a proper coach that will take us places. CHANGE YOUR VOTE to Deschamps..
  3. If we dont get Deschamps I will be gutted...Because its staring us in the face. Its the differance between Aston Villa getting on the road to success, or staying as a has-been club always chasing the pack. The links to McClaren are just sick.. Although he is slight improvement on Hughes..
  4. Well I hear he wants to leave Marseille.. Just hope Enrique gets the Roma job and it leaves the path clear for us to get him...Thats if the board are ambitious enough..
  5. RoyalVilla, Deschamps is the answer to all those requests mate..
  6. In trouble of what exactly?? relegation? No. we're in trouble of slipping further down the table, losing key players, losing even more key players and that will only keep happening by adopting someone like Allardyce. We need to appoint someone that is ambitious, looking to build something, has clear philosophies that players will buy into so players realise this is still a big club, a top 6/7 team who can challenge towards the top end of the league. Appointing Allardyce is like saying "We're worried of relegation, we've got a squad of pretty much average players, let's just steady the ship for a couple years" we are not in that position, we are far, far, far, far, far, far better than that. I'l 2nd this :winkold:
  7. Alec, You just down play our club.. We are better than the suggestions you keep bringing up.. I dont need to say on here what an attractive package managing Aston Villa is... Atm Aston Villa is a better club to manage than Liverpool or Chelsea. Its a huge opportunity for any top manager to come in and make his mark in the Premiership. Money is available and the club have never denied that. The stadium is in prime condition(unlike anfield) The training facilities are amongst the best in the country. The board have to be amongst the best to work for in the Prem. The stage is set my friend..All we need is the RIGHT man..
  8. Its important to keep his name in the frame..The more it gets mentioned the more chance of him coming.. Krulak has said in the past that they do listen to the fans.. If we shout loud enough they may consider it... Its better than the links to Hughes and Moyes..
  9. That top list of managers? More of them are gettable than you think;) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2289024/Didier-Deschamps-favourite-for-Newcastle.html AND http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/sep/27/didier-deschamps-liverpool-manager
  10. Im still banging the Deschamp's drum...
  11. Football has changed massively since those days. And like most British coaches, they have stayed in the past/or still trying to get to grips with a new modern continental system..A system which has been around for years in France and Spain.. And these clubs can still remain competetive when they have sold their 1st team stars to the rich Premierleague clubs. Purely because the systems they have, already run deep through into the acadamy.. Until we install such a system at Villa we will NEVER rule Europe again. We can appoint Hughes, Moyes and co' yet all we are doing is wasting time..Because all these managers need the funds to find the players that already know the system to move the clubs forward.. Instead of bringing in the source, we are bringing in the products from the source..
  12. Name them. And they better be in a league as strong as the Premier League! Premierleague is sinking pal.. Its the league that can only survive by the assistance of European coaching.. Half our clubs are spending bucket loads on players coached from abroad because we are clueless. This is why we need to bring a European quality coach to Villa, to nullify the need to go out looking for the next Essien and Malouda.. We need to get these players from within.. The systems on the continent that are dishing out these players us Premierleague teams are spending loads on need to be introduced at Villa.. 4 years from now under Hughes we will just be in a similar place. Still buying the scraps that cant get a top 4 club and trying to break into the big time..
  13. Nobody is denying the fact he is good for Fulham.. Without being disrespectful to them but I consider Villa to be a very big club and a very big catch for a top manager. Our facilities and backing are top notch.. Villa Park is a great stadium and we amongst the top clubs in England when it comes to the managerial package we can offer.. We really should be aiming alot higher than Mark Hughes or David Moyes. Instead of looking at us in Premiership terms...Look at us in European terms instead. Then ask the ask the question...If we want to rule Europe once again what must we do? I dont think appointing Mark Hughes is getting us on the ladder of such goal..We need to broaden our search and options...Its vital we get the right man that can transform us into a modern day "European" team...Not just a team to get by in the Premiership. Before we look in European terms, we HAVE to concentrate on the English Premier League to qualify. Then sink? Im talking about building the modern day European style team now..Not in 4 years time when Hughes has spent 100m to get us a top 6 finish and a LC.. Go out and appoint the manager now that will modernise us into a side that can compete in Europe.. Blimey, Man United are the best team in the Premiership yet were made to look like a division 2 side v Barca..AND THATS MAN UNITED! Do you seriouslY think whilst the rest of Europe moves forward we have the time to watse arsing about with backward tactics? We need to make that move NOW! Not including Man City due to the money they have spent, there are only 2 managers who have finished in the top 4. Redknapp and Moyes. Both of them have an 'old school' style. What in the name of Juande Ramos makes you think a foreign coach can do it on a budget that is significantly less that Manchester City's? And Wenger... Who is the only manager in that top 4 to achieve it consistantly without massive net spend..Yet Wenger is old hat.. There are younger and better Wenger's out there if you l;ook...These are the managers that WILL take Villa into the next level without the need to have year on year massive investment(like MON,Hughes,Moyes etc all do).. Its about building a sustainable method and modern style..
  14. If Hughes is a great Premiership manager why hasnt he taken any of his clubs into the Champions League? Answ; He needs alot of resources..He needs alot ofmoney.. That dosnt make him great...We should be looking at better than this...There are managers that are taking clubs into the CL with teams they have built on little funds..Managers that have spotted great youth players and brought them through the club to form a formidable team/squad.. Mark Hughes has had plenty of chance to go out and find, build the next generation team...He has never achieved such feat.
  15. Ancelotti is NOT the man for Villa.

  18. Hughes attracted Robinho to Citeh. At least do a little bit of research before spouting your incessent bile. I think you will find that it was MONEY that attracted Robinho to City..
  19. Why do you say that? Because none of them will take us forward.. What have they done at previous clubs? What legacy did they build? Wheres the up to date modern style of football taking the Premiership by storm from Everton? Moyes has had plenty of time to instill a winning formula..Yet its static..The same with Hughes, wheres his modern day football team which he created thats taking the league by storm? They are BOTH managers that "just survive" they "just get by" in the Premiership.. Neither have layed down a furmula or method. Your answer will now be MONEY... Which is exactly the type of managers they are...They both need money to compete at the top.. Now look a Wenger, he aint great but you can see an idea of him building a style, an image of football in his mind and players are gelled into it. A manager is not just about getting a few £££'s and building a team to play a season.. Its about building a style from the top to bottom to survive without the need of continuous investment(where we just cant compete)... Ive mentioned on other threads; "We need to adapt a Barca approach" "Why are Porto,Lille etc growing" Its not just money... We need a top coach with a modern vision..Deschamps is the man I suggest, as he seems to be the up and coming guy atm to transform a club into his image without mass funding.. Thats a very good response and i agree with 90% of it. All i would say is that the type of club you wish for takes time, Villa fans are impatient. We need to be settled as a upper-middle club first on the brink of top 4 or 5, this is where i think a mangaer like Hughes/Moyes/Coyle/Ancelotti would get us too, then you could look for a coach to 'style' the time. First we need to steady the ship because at the moment its about to capsize. Again I could answer this by saying, it didnt take time for Deschamps to turn Marseille into a force. I think in 2 years he has won 3 domestics and their 1st title in 18 years.. I would think with the departures from the club that have happened and going to happen...NOW would be a perfect time for Deschamps to come in and build the 1st team squad into his mould..No good appointing him(or a manager like him) after Moyes and Hughes have ahd 4 years at the club spending another 100m on the same old top 6 calibre type players. After he builds the 1st team and we start the new season, no doubt the style and ethos will filter through the club into the acadamy..And he too will have many connections of some of Europe's finest up and coming young players.. Deschamps is idolised in France(more so than Houllier), his attraction for the next Viera, Henry etc would be massive...He would literally transform Villa into a better modern football club.. Its almost like having a younger Wenger, yet 3 times better and more respected.
  20. Yeah from what I hear Deschamps would love to return to the Premiership..He wanted the Liverpool job but it came too early..He was also interested in the Newcastle job.. Randy will need to act fast and use whatever he can to get his man..Houllier and Duverne could well help with persuasion.. I think we are a catch for any top manager..The board have shown to be very good for managers to work for. Im half expecting Ancelotti to enter the frame for the Roma job.
  21. In the case of Deschamps, the fact that he's been a success everywhere he's been so far, at times on a limited budget. At Marseille he's proven for me that he can take a club a step further than other managers. I'd move heaven and earth to get him if I were Randy. Well said...Glad im not the only one
  22. Why do you say that? Because none of them will take us forward.. What have they done at previous clubs? What legacy did they build? 23. Im sorry but Houllier is certainly considered a top manager in the game. He came here, the fans turned on him and we had our worst season in years. To the people thinking that getting in Ancelotti or Deschamps....what makes you so sure that they will do well here???? Id prefer a Moyes, Martinez, Lambert etc etc to an Ancelotti or Deschamps. Because in France, Lyon can lose Benzema, Essien etc for huge amounts and then STILL remain at the top because players coming through are better coached than in England..The whole conveyor belt system is far stronger.. Its the same with Lille and Marseille.. These clubs are feeding top Premiership clubs and clubs like Real Madrid yet remain at the top.. French coaching has moved forward ten fold over the last few years..The footballers coming out of France are in the same bracket as Spain. Their on the ball skills and vision is way ahead on English coaching. France have appeared in 2 x world cup finals in 4 years..Spain won the last world cup.. The only reason Barca are ahead of many French clubs is because they can hold onto players whereas most French clubs are cashing in. I would love Deschamps to join us and instill this modern football into the Villa system..Its almost what Houllier is trying to do, but he is too old..Deschamps is young, ambitious and very knowledgeable..Its the way forward for us as a club. Hughes, Moyes..Just not good enough!
  24. Not "suitable" more like. I'd be inclinded to agree. Not the man for where we are right now, IMO. Leslie would be the right man, for me .... Ancelotti will go to Roma.. Deschamps will come to us "if Randy pulls his finger out" http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11800_6960827,00.html
  25. Tis true. Unfortunately, I am not sure that he has much experience of buying any players. Abramovich at Chelsea, Berlusconi & Galliano (sic) at Milan. That is what worries me with Ancelotti. Neither does he bring through youth. Neither does he build up clubs. He is a manager that works at the top with good squads and players. He will be lost at Villa where he has to balance the wages or work on a budget. Deschamps remains the man for Villa..What he has done at Marseille is fantastic and he could do the same for us. He is a moden day manager with modern day tactics. Has massive respect in the football world and would take us forward. Its staring at us right in the face and he wants to be appointed "before" middle of June.
