  1. Not stability again...Why do people love this word so much?? We need a re-build..So isnt it better to build right?? And use the opportunity to take the club into the modern era of football? Use the oppotunity to make that change? Why blow it to just be same old in the name of stability? Its the time to get Villa into the modern European era of football. Get us back on the map with great football, great players, etc... I cant believe some want to throw this away with the appointment of Mark Hughes.
  2. Its not good enough.. He has never taken a single club into the CL in all his time in management.. He hasnt the skill to build a decent squad, method, style etc his approach isnt good enough. HE NEEDS MEGA MONEY TO ACHIEVE! Any manager needed mega ££££'s to achieve has very little knowledge of the world of football. Like ive mentioned before; For 1 x Essien = 25m+ there is another one coming through for 2m, its just a case of knowing where to look. Deschamps has better knowledge of where to look than that of Hughes. Hughes will only spot the player once he has made it into the light. Deschamps not only can get some of the players in the light, he can also bring in the ones that are about to get into it. Its like Wenger finding Van Persie and Diaby etc.. Knowledge is what makes a great club, not JUST MONEY!
  3. Of course they came in on high wages and for high fees, that is the nature of Man City.Surely a more relevant comparison would be to the wages and fees at Fulham and Blackburn during his time. Unless you think we are closer to Man City than Blackburn and Fulham.... Yes but its nature of those signings as well that was poor..He ha the whole world to chose from, yet he signed Wayne Bridge, SWP, Lescott??? Its clueless.. He had the opportunity to make Man City the best club in Europe yet he signed poor players on high wages and trans fees. Its what MON does.. We dont need that at Villa...He behind the times on the European stage. He comes in and he could buy N'Zogbia for 10m and stick him on 50k a week..That signing would show NO skill.. Yet Deschamps would come in and sign a player for 2m on 20k a week who would be 3 x better than N'Zogbia purely because he has a wider knowledge of the game.. Hughes is very limited on the European stage, as was MON.. He wont know about the players that are under the table.. Its like Houllier bringing Fofana to the club..OK he may not ever be a great player but Deschamps will do the same and more than like;y the players he brings in WILL be good. The likes of Lyon, Lille, Marseille etc have been selling their top players for mega money to Premierleague clubs over the years.. Nasri, Malouda, Essien, are to name a few.. Yet these clubs still have replacements that come in that become just as good.. I agree with everything except his signings at Man City. If you think about it, yes, Man City had all the wealth they have right now but they didn't have the same reputation. Mark Hughes was signing players to take Man City to the next level which he did. Even teams like Man City have to build 2 or 3 different teams before they can get to where they are now and that's exactly what he was doing. If you can afford to buy Lescott at 20 odd million and you know he is going to be a solid premier league player, is there any point in trying to sign someone for a quarter of the price who may or may not do the same job just because they are cheaper?. At Fulham he signed Salciedo and Dembele who have had good seasons, Dembele in particular had a very good start until his injury.Does this not show a good understanding of the European game? He bought Salcido off the back of a decent World Cup showing. A decent manager would have known about Salcido before the world cup and bought him for half the price. Im saying his knowledge is very limited in comparison to some managers we could go out and get.. Deschamps would look at N'Zogbia and say, well I know a few players that are better than him that would cost less.. Hughes wouldnt know about this and would just sign N'Zogbia on 50k a week. Deschamps could build the better and cheaper squad that would good enough to compete against the best in Europe. He could continue the trend right throughout into the acadamy.. Like I said he has knowledge in Spain, Italy and Engand, besides just France..And has the pull that goes with it.
  4. We would be that big club.. No reason at all why he couldnt build his legacy with us. He is young enough, he has the stage set for him all here now, good board, fan base etc.. He understands French, English, Spanish and Italian football.. Far more respected and knowledgable in world/European football than that of Hughes or Moyes.. But we play in ENGLAND!!! You say far more respected but is that because he is your preference. No I say respected because he is.. He has far more pulling power than alot of managers. Deschamps at Villa would send shock waves around Europe...It would higher our profile as a club Instantly..

  7. Going backwards with Hughes... Its pointless hiring a manager that relies solely on money to get places.. You need a manager that can reinvent the club into his own style, a modern day approach with modern day tactics and total football.. Its going to have to happen at some point if we are EVER going to progress..We can do it now whilst the squad needs to be re-built or we can do it in 4 years time after another 100m has been spent and another clearout will be required..
  8. Not good enough mate.. Where are they all now? Bar Samba, the others are all mediocre at best. Its almost a copy cat of MON type signings..
  9. Hughes will just do another MON.. All his signings at City came in on high wages and some high trans fees.. He hasnt got the skills to find better and cheaper options. He will sign the obvious.. We wont go forward under him.
  10. Deschamps . Rijkaard . . . Ancelotti . Moyes . . . . . . . Hughes . All others
  11. This is the man Randy... The man who has only got 14 votes out if 243 votes Yes but also a man that NOBODY has really said they wouldnt approve. Ancelotti is the favourite, yet some have voiced concerns.. Whereas Deschamps may not be a favourite, he is one that many fans would welcome.
  12. Its been confirmed that Ancelotti had the clause removed..He can now go where-ever he likes.
  13. Ok, so thats Ancelotti ruled out too? So anyone with me on Deschamps now?
  14. McClaren is a NO, come on where's the link to our club on such appointment? Hughes and Moyes will stay at their clubs. This leaves; Deschamps = strong links with Duverne/Houllier and that he wants a Premiership club over Roma. Ancelotti = Wants to stay in England although would prefer London..Im sure a top club in the mould of Villa could suit. Benitez = The successor of Houllier at Liverpool, desprately wants a return to the Prem and will no doubt blag his way through any potential interview.
  15. Its gonna be Deschamps..It wouldnt surprise we if Duverne and him are good friends..Both have spent alot of time in and around the French National team. He has already come out and said he wants a job in the Prem...
  16. YES.... Come on guys get behind me and SHOUT for Deschamps..
  17. Although im in favour of Deschamps..The 38% for Ancelotti is good. If we couldnt get Deschamps I would settle for the Italian oldie goldie.. Dont think he would build as good as dessie would but surely the next best in the bunch listed above?
  18. No he isnt! We are a perfect time now for "re-build" and if we are going to re-build we may as well get it right. We need to move forward and have a change in style and approach. Total football is the way...Barca have proved this by destroying Man United.. Deschamps can re-build a great Aston Villa with modern tactics and style that will blow managers like Hughes away.. Deschamps can bring in the next Viera, Henry etc..Exciting football that will take us into the top 4 within 2 seasons.
  19. All poor signings.. Anyone can sign them if they have money because they were high profile..Where is skill in these signings? And how will that help a club like Villa? Where in those signings does it shout out "this is the man for us"? Are you saying a man that comes in and says he wants to buy Charles N'Zogbia for instance for 10m is a good manager? OR Would you prefer a manager that can sign a player twice as good as N'Zogbia for half the price because he has the connections and knowledge in the game? You need to seriously open your eyes.. Teams like Lille,Marseille and Lyon are selling players like Malouda, Essien, Nasri, Benzema for shit loads yet they have ready made replacements in the back door to come through. These teams remain at the same strength after selling these super players to big Premiership clubs.. Managers like Deschamps will be able to kit Villa out with great players at cheap prices..These players will make your eyes pop out. And the good news will be that Deschamps will be at a club where he dosnt have to sell them on, he can add to them..
  20. We are but we are being realistic. well Krulak has already said he informs Lerner of the fans concerns etc.. So lets say Krulak looks in on this thread to get a rough idea of a fans favourite..And then see's Hughes as a 2nd fav with the fans.. He could go straight to boardroom and say "the fans will love Hughes".. Why not Give them a man to hunt down and fight for, instead of the easy option. :winkold:
