  1. Perhaps the 70% or so of voters in a Villatalk poll who wanted Houllier to stay will come on here and say that they were pleased with today's performance and result and that they have faith in Houllier.

Very childish comment.. it's like saying "I told you so".

The 70% of people including myself did it as said above in good faith, no one wants to see Villa fail hence people were giving him time in hope he will turn things around.

If I'd wanted to say "I told you so" then I would have said it. It's childish to call someone elses' comment childish.

Jesus Christ people are allowed to change their **** mind.

No one is happy with the mess we're in and the people who previously supported Houllier did so in good faith, most of them at least, and thinking that he could change things.

Because they could not see the wood for the trees.

  3. I'm really hoping that all the negativity on this board and comments about Ged etc. are left outside of VP and everybody just gets behind the boys. If this is taken into VP, I can imagine it transferring onto the pitch and we could have a very nervous occasion. We beat them at their place with no Bent and some injuries, they have a crap away record as far as I am aware and we have actually been playing some decent stuff of late. So why is everybody sooooo negative. Lets start being a bit more positive and see if we can transmit this positive mental energy to the team on Saturday.

FFS, if Markavfc40 is predicting a 2-1 win then most of us should be expecting to win by 4 or 5! :winkold:

Yes, Wolves have the worst points tally in the PL with only 5 points out of a possible 42 points away from home so if we don't beat them then........

  4. Apart from the fact that the players are passing it around more (but not necessarily getting anywhere or winning games) can anyone honestly say that we are a better team now than we were at the start of the season?
All the opposition has to do is go to sleep in their own half when we're doing our pointless tapping in our own half, while Houllier just sits in the dugout like he wants to sleep as well and when the clock gets to 80 mins, the opposition wakes up, makes a run, gets the ball, we concede a setpiece and what do you know, they've scored and won. It's really that easy to expose Houllier's tactics.

Bent and Young both had off days against Bolton. If they hadn't we would have ripped Bolton to shreds. Walker was fantastic, as was Albrighton. Robinson must be still rubbing his anus from the arse-raping he got off the two of them. The fact that Martin Petrov was uncharacteristically silent was telling. Our attacking and defending from open play are very good. our attackig and defending of set pieces are abysmal.

If you think all we do is aimlessly tap the bal from side to side, you're clearly watching with a) closed eyes or B) a closed mind.

I maybe a little confused here but I think that we have played a lot more teams besides Bolton.

  5. Liverpool finished below us last season and IMO had a worse squad than we did. Benitez went and in came Hodgson, a man that some fans clearly didn't want. They started the season badly and limped along until the early part of this year when they sacked Hodgson and appointed Dalglish, someone who has not managed for years. Amazingly Liverpool have had an upsurge in fortunes and are doing very well thank you with not too many additions to the squad.

Villa meanwhile appointed Houllier in September, another manager that some fans clearly didn't want. Our season started badly and we have limped along ever since. No upsurge just constant disappointment and a fight against relegation.

    C'est la vie.

  6. Stupid thread because what use is it, whatever we thing of GH, to get someone in for 9 games and expect them to make a difference.

Whatever you think of GH we are stuck with him and as ever no one on these sort of threads suggest a credible and crucially gettable alternative.

Based on your logic what use is any thread? If it was pointless then it would not have run to so many pages in just one day.

  7. I think that for a manager's position to be in question from the day he was appointed right through until March (and maybe beyond) is a reflection of the feeling amongst fans. I don't recall previous Villa managers being under such scrutiny during their first season in charge.
