Yeah you can only win that many one score games before it catches up with you. That pass by Cousins on 4th & 8 on the last play...yikes.

Banger of a wildcard weekend though! Possibly the best I can remember!

5 games and all of them but 1 within a score and the other only turned into a rampage in the second half. Considering 2 games had 3rd string QBs and Huntley is 3rd string quality that's astounding.

  2. NFC 1 seed race is effectively over, with it being in the hands of the "6 seed and fixed there no matter what" New York Giants.

However if they somehow shock Philly with Giants presumably resting loads of starters then the 49ers just need to beat a sorry, beat-up Cardinals side to steal it from under their nose. Cowboys can grab it too if the Eagles and 49ers stumble.

I loved the change. I guess in the book they only saw Aemond threaten Luke in Storm's End, then chase him off but the accidental death adds a shit tonne of nuance. He's not an intentional kinslayer but it's 100% his fault for being a moron who chased his nephew with a war machine.

    You're a book reader right?

    Spoiler

Yes I am. I agree I think it adds nuance to it. He wants to scare him and humble him and most likely take his eye to square them up but he realises that what he's done (or rather what Vhagar does) is a massive act of war and has ensured these factions will never see peace and the rift will never be healed.

Luke losing control of Arrax is understandable as he's a young dragon and Luke is a young dragonrider but Aemond realising that Vhagar will let him ride her but will not always let him overrule her is really clear to Aemond too.

Glad they didn't do the 'son for a son' line there and let it go into next season

  4. Also the timeskips are so you can empathise with the characters. It's a bit like if we'd seen the start of Cersei's life and how her resentment of Robert started with his obsession with (the long dead) Lyanna or that she'd been driven to hatred of Tyrion by not only him killing their mother when he was born but by Maggy the Frogs prophecy alluding to him maybe being the cause of her doom. Tl;dr its basically so we can humanise Allicent and Rhaenyra and understand why they've got to this point and why they're like they are. Like the Hightower generational abuse from Otto to Allicent and then Allicent doing the same to Aegon and Aemond

I'm conflicted, and I say that as no fan of the Green side.

He was bullied earlier (and it's easy to presume it wasn't an isolated incident) then he was ganged up on 4 to 1. The other kids started the violence. Rhaena had no right to Vhagar other than her being her mother's dragon, and Aemond (a dragonrider with no dragon also) had every right to claim her too. There's all sorts of dragon claiming ****-ery in the lore. Melys (Rhaenys's dragon) was ridden by Viserys and Daemon's mother for example. The timing, admittedly, was shit but he was a teenager and didn't have a dragon yet. If Vhagar wanted to reject him, she'd have just burned him.

    Best Aemond bit though:

I mean Aegon is leading the charge with the bullying to be fair. Aemond is just a bit of a sour prick. But given that trying to beat Jace's head in with a rock is like one of the nicest things he'll do.... can't wait for it to spiral into the Dance
