Tell me about it. Four weeks now. Grrrr. It's crap isn't it, I'd never really did any outdoor running until just under 2 months ago, the first time I did my legs were in bits but now I'm loving it and plan to join up with Park Run in a few weeks. The B'ham half marathon is the next big run on my list.

Thanks for the replies folks, I'm sitting here at work now, show off, foot strapped (found some good techniques on Youtube) and regularly doing the tennis ball massage with throwing some Nurofen in for good measure. Tonight I'll be home and following the icing "regime" the podiatrist gave me. Fingers crossed this eases up by the time my run comes around.

Take your shoe off and roll a tennis ball (or a jamjar) under your foot (while you're sitting down), is one of the popular bits of advice. Never had it mesself, so I dunno if it works. Well I'll give anything a try so will be doing this tonight, it's seriously impacted on my training and I'm just hopeful I'm going to be fit for my run on June 5th. I made a trip out earlier to get some tennis balls and I have to say it does help, I've also watched some videos on how best to tape the foot up for support during the day. I'm getting my orthotics from the podiatrist on Monday then I'll take it to Up & Running in B'ham to get the best fit trainer possible. I'm really missing going for a run...

Apparently the correct term for what I've got is Plantar Fasciitis, anyone any tips on how I speed up the healing process with this?

Well I've been to see a podiatrist who specialises in running injuries, apparently I over pronate quite a bit on my left foot and this has caused the problems. I can either. A) Get a pair or orthotics which cost either £135 or £290. Get a pair of motion controlled running trainers. Anyone here have or had a similar issue? Any advice welcome.

Seeing as theres some pretty serious runners can any of you spread light on this injury of mine? I've had since my 8.6k run on Weds night. The arch of my left foot is in quite a lot of pain and I could barely put any weight on it on Thursday and I had a pain in my knee at the time too, the knee pain went pretty quickly but my foot shows no signs of getting better, I've not been able to run since Wednesday and I did have a 6k run I was aiming to do on Saturday. I'm trying to see a physio ASAP as I really don't want to miss any of the fun run's I've got coming up, anyone have any suggestions on what it could be?

My trainings suffered a major setback since running on Wednesday, I've barely been able to put any weight on my left foot, it seems to be easing but slowly.

I did this run yesterday around Sutton Park, I'm training for the Fun Run on 5th June which is 8 miles, I could get my split times down a bit I think but I as this is my first proper run I just want to do it comfortably and push on for further runs in the future. http://tinyurl.com/6cp6b2 Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do with my training between now and then?

Been for a proper sports massage and some physio to iron out a couple of niggles tonight, I'm going to aim for at 7-8k tomorrow. I've started to eat a lot more of the right stuff too so hopefully it'll be a success.

Great Midlands Fun Run by any chance ? Indeed it is. I did a comfortable 5k in 29 mins tonight which I'll be upping over the next month, it's the best form I've shown since started so really keen to keep on pushing now.

Off to Sutton Park again for me tonight, up to 6.5k now after only running outside for a couple of weeks and I've got until the 5th June to be ready for the Fun Run. (13k) Anyone have any tips such as best stuff to eat, best warm ups, warm downs etc?

I'm doing the B'ham fun run in June (8.5 mile) and my training has started today, I'm a good runner on the treadmill and have started running regularly outdoors, well twice lol. I'm just hoping I can get up to that distance pretty quickly, I've a good base level of fitness so fingers crossed. If any of the more experienced runners have any tips or suggestions then I'm all ears.
  15. Oh, he's still here then, please get rid of him ASAP as like many I'm starting to doubt the words of the board and it pains me to say that. Houllier out.
  16. We need answers General because this situation could get very nasty, I don't even think DOL was this disliked during the end of his time in charge. Hopefully one of the players will leak a letter to the press this week, that may spur you lot into action because I'm really starting doubt the board and their ability to make tough decisions.
  17. I look forward to reading about Houllier leaving shortly then, I never want to see that imbecile anywhere near Villa Park again. Surely you, Randy and Paul can see he's been nothing short of a disaster?!
  18. Really impressed with Makoun so far, so composed but I think he could be more effective with NRC next to him.
  19. I only care about what I've saw from Ireland which is absolute jack so I couldn't care less if he goes
  20. I dj'ed in Bandung on New Years Eve and it's a lovely place, I give him 6mths tops.
