  1. People working at the club running their mouths is not the club leaking info! It's employees that can't shut the hell up. Also some of what is floating out there can come from agents and mamas and daddies and granmammas bragging that their sons and grandsons have a job interview for all we know.
  2. Yes, I think you're correct. So to summarize What we know we know is Villa does not have a manager What we know that we don't know is who will be the next manager What we don't even know that we don't know because it's unknown is that Carlo would prefer a suit with the Villa crest hand stitched over the left breast pocket rather than the Villa tie that is on sale in the on-line store. See I didn't even know that I didn't know that! I'm reading other places that some fans feel this process has become a joke or a farce but all that can be said about that is none of any of this is coming from Villa. The media get a name for some source and run a marathon with the name causing people to throw money on the name making the name the new favorite....sigh. The circus is media driven not club driven
  3. Randy: Carlo, they love you. The Villa fans, yes, they love you. I've tried to move on to others and they won't have it. Carlo: No, Mr. Lerner. Mr. Lerner, this is not fair. I'm an emotional man. You know these stories break my heart Carlo: They have absolutely bashed every other choice. Every other name send servers crashing, hate mail flowing, accusations that I have lost my ambition... Carlo: Mr. Lerner this pressure is greater than trying to finish first in the Premier League. God...Just when I thought I was out they pull me back in. Where do I sign.
  4. Yeah, I'd laugh if Ancelotti gets revealed on Friday and Randy had just decided to **** with our heads for a while, just so we end up appreciating him even more. I'd laugh so hard I'd cry. Actually I might just go straight to tears. I just can't stop believing that RL has some Italian magic up his sleeve. I just know that he spoke directly to Carlo. Okay I don't "know" "Know" but I have a real hunch that they have had direct face to face contact and that Carlo was given an offer he can't refuse
  5. Just logged in to post that too. @MatKendrick Mat Kendrick Steve McClaren is NOT the leading contender for #avfc job. See today's Birmingham Mail for full story Tease...the selling of newspaper business I guess
  6. I'll support who ever is appointed manager but my goodness gracious the team and the football must be inspired. Who's available who can do that? sigh....
  7. With that tie he's wearing, Steve McTrump looks more of a Blues manager. By the way Don't think he's holding the brolly to keep the rain off. More the piss and beer would be my guess
  8. I agree! Watching paint dry dull. I do hope they pick one soon so we can all get back to fretting over the color of the socks of next year's kit! Besides, this whole manager hunting thing is sooooooo last year. Oh wait... Wonder if this will be annual?
  9. They're not weeks old, they're from the last few days, but he quite clearly says he's taking a year off. The journalist even says, "You're not going to be managing anywhere next season, can we write that?" and he says "yes". It's time to let it go. He's not coming, he's made it as clear as he possibly can, in a direct interview a few days ago. Ok uncle_junior I'll let you go away and let it go but if it's all the same to you, and I can't imagine why it shouldn't be, I'll keep a candle of hope burning just in case Randy has some power of pursuasion when they met up in London Sunday evening (that's a joke PEOPLE!)
  10. The quotes don't seem to be weeks old but they could still be made prior to Ancelotti hearing from Villa.
  11. I know it was probably posted before in the old thread but Here's the actual article with Ancelotti's quotes. Looks like questions were asked after Houllier was let go because the question mentions Fulham and Aston Villa specifically. So it had to be late in the week. It also mentions that Ancelotti was on his way back to London on Sunday. We know that the reaching out to Ancelotti had to be really late in the week like Friday/Saturday. Who knows if he knew of Villa's approach by Friday or Saturday? Bet he knows now! I'm keeping hope alive.
  12. Can't vote for anyone else until Carlo rings me up personally and says, "Villanesque, give it up! I'm not coming to Villa!" or until the club officially hires some one not named Carlo Ancelotti or until Carlo Ancelotti is seen at a press conference being introduced as the new manager of some other football club not named Aston Villa!
  13. Then why did CA issue that statement saying he was taking a year off ? Would seem a bit odd to go to all that trouble for nothing It's a small point I know but CA did not issue a statement. Italian press asked about his managerial future and he's quoted saying he's taking time off. Could just be he doesn't want to be harassed by the sports paparazzi when he's in Italy.
  14. Who's to say that before coming to Birmingham RL didn't stop in London for a chat with his true targets. The General has also been missing. Could it be he's in on the clandestine interview(s). Lord knows I'm not in the know but Don't rule out CA or DM. RL will not do Villa business in the press. Remember he flew to Houllier for the real interview. Where's theTrees to give us the scoop on RL's flight plans the last two days?
  15. To be honest mate, you didn't catch too many, it was mainly people like me that live in Australia and others that live in the US that were posting at that time. It was midday here so when i get to log on in my lunch to have a look at whats happening....which usually isn't too much around that time, however you did create a bit of good banter! Not sure anyone was "caught" It's a time zone thing. Your 3:00 AM is 7:00PM where I am which is when I read the board anyway. The football news over here centers on the US is playing in the Gold Cup today which is Bob or Micahel Bradley related. Turns out there are reports that Bob Bradley might get the sack if the US doesn't have a winning showing in the Cup. Coming back on topic here Villa fans best hope some one is appointment manager of the club soon or the Bob Bradley to Villa rumors will really start to flare up in two weeks time! Michael's loan return has been extended for the new manager to decide, btw. Hmmm wonder if his dad would send him back to Germany. How's that for a wind up!
  16. Hah! Villaninoz I think we were a few minutes apart on replying to Kiwi! Solid post there from you. Still too bad Jurgen won't be coming to Villa. Some will be glad apparently but you and I can cry into our beers, I guess. I just can't quit on Carlo just yet though. I hear singing but I can't quite make out if it's coming from a fat lady or not
  17. WHY? What in the name of **** christ has he done that makes him a good candidate? Let's see. He let Loew sort out the German team for WC 06 while he played to the cameras the whole time. Oh and he was a failure at Bayern. Yes. What a fan-****-tastic choice for next Villa manager! Give me 100 McClarens ahead of Klinnsman thx Calm yourself Kiwivillan or you may have to take a severance package for having a heart ailment just like Hou! Besides opinions are sort of like assholes. Everyone has one. Most of them stink. I stated mine and I'm not all that fond of yours. I'd like Klinsmann. Kill me. You can say what you like about 2006 but the man changed the mindset of the German National team. He moved the set up to figuring out how to intergrate youth with experience and Loew reaped the benefit of that this past WC. Klinsmann has a philosophy on how to train and how to play. And yes Bayern was a horrible disaster when he was sacked. I think they fell all the way to THIRD just 3 points off first, was it? He was following a legend and it didn't sit too well with the old guard at the club. Sounds familiar with the resistance Houllier was met with from the old boys. But you wanting a 100 McLarens versus one Klinsmann is something I just can't wrap my feeble little brain around but I won't have a heart attack about it. :winkold:
  18. I have no stomach for the lame ass fox soccer report! I think it originates out of Los Angeles. I should drive over and clock these twits. Btw Villaninoz, I'd love an appt of Klinsmann but now that Randy has gotten a taste of what life is like when the local fans don't respect his choice of manager I doubt he sticks his neck out for Jurgen. Haven't given up hope for Carlo. Ascolta il Holte cantare il tuo nome, Carlo!
  19. Rather than snuff out the expectation of Villa fans maybe the under the radar approach is being used to snuff out the pressure and hounding speculation in Italy and England. Both countries are notorious for their celebrity press. Italy invented paparazzi! I'm keeping hope alive until 1) villa announce they have signed someone else or 2) until ancelotti signs with another club 3)ancelotti issues an official statement from his agent Btw jurgen klingsman's name is floating around
  20. How does he explain Ancelotti's recent comments then? I hate it when people do this, because while 90% of me knows it's BS, 10% of me wants to believe it because I'm just that kind of person. Right there with you. My rational mind says - all this ITK is crap is complete BS! But my emotional irrational mind says "Please, pretty please, be true!" Oh well time will tell who knew what.
  21. Yo...what's this foolishness? McClaren? I ain't hearing it, yo!
  22. I think there may be an under appreciation of Carlo's knowledge of the game in general and the league specifically. There have been questions raised about his ability to over see the building of a team and his transfer targets being name brand type players. And the questions are all asking can he be successful on a budget. I say yes. Where has it been proven that he can't? When has he ever truly failed as a manager? Getting sacked for only being the second best team in the toughest league in the world is insane and a poor reflection on the Chelsea owner rather than on Ancelotti. Seriously the man has witnessed Premier League talent for two years; he's seen first hand what talent exist in the league and how the game is played in this league and what type of skill set a player needs to be successful in this league. He's educated on the player pool in the league. There's an idea that he would only target the Fernando Torres' out there and if he can't simply look in the store window and pick out who he wants from all the other teams on the continent he'll be a bust at Villa. I just don't buy that.
  23. Villa fans really shouldn't have to justify their excitement over the potential appointment of a Champions League coach to head Aston Villa to another team's fan. Frankly, the simple reason of "because I like his eyebrow!" can draw the line under it, imo. As far as Ancelotti goes, players in this league and else where will want to play for him. He's an attraction. Not to say that those who have had their heads turned already or feel that they have put in their time with the club will be jolted into staying but those players who may want a change of scenery at their current club may enjoy the scenery of Villa Parke a whole lot more with a proven winner on the sideline and dressing room.
  24. I don't want Beye or Warnock in the team. I'd rather have my 7 year old son play at the back at least I know he loves the club and would give his all. Too bad about Dunne. In my opinion he was actually coming around to playing the way Houllier envisions the backs playing. Oh well... If we can attack Bolton and score first we can win this thing. I wish Delph was a tad touch taller. With his midfield skills he's not a bad shout at left back. With all of the defensive injuries wouldn't it be interesting to see GH throw Heskey's arse at center back in a pinch? Hesk is a big strong dude. 8) UTV!
  25. Hope the fellas are sick to death of kicking each other's arses in practice for the last two weeks and are ripe and ready to rip into any team not wearing a Villa training uniform on Saturday. I just have so much faith in the team right now. Hope Bradley gets more time on the pitch Saturday to really see if he has the goods for the Premiership. I'm actually very excited to see how Villa finish out the year. I'm very optimistic. The team seems to be settling into knowing how Houllier wants them to play. Not all of the current personnel can play the way Houllier wants but there's no question that the understanding and the effort is there in games though the execution can still be shakey. It's all part of the learning and the shift in philosophy. UTV!
