  1. Liverpool and Henry are notorious for being quiet on deals they are making yet they tell the fans who they are talking to and when they plan to do it. Why does RL tell the fans nothing about the management process??? Is it because they are talking to nobody??? I reckon thats why. The only statement they said is they arent waiting on Liverpool to pick their manager. Why tell us that??? Is it because they have nothing else to tell us is my guess and that was a strange thing to tell us in the first place. Trying to fool the fans into thinking they are doing something. Sure he is even away back to the states until Tuesday. I hope i am proved wrong but the lack of info they provide to fans who are the foundations of the club makes me sick.

We're all frustrated and would like to know what's going on, but I'm sorry but that is an absolute crock of shit that Liverpool keep the fans in the loop at every step of the way.

The only reason we know about Martinez through a soundbite (excluding the photo), is because of that gobshite Dave Whelan. They've never come out and said anything about AVB, Rafa, Lambert or anyone.

I may be in a minority, but I believe OGS was not our first choice. I really think that if he was then we would have got him. Randy needs the fans back on side. Not because he wouldn't be able to take a few chants, but to protect his investment. It's the only logical business decision as they NEED season ticket money, merchandise sales and a the TV revenue. Without the feel good factor, and a better style of play, youo can be sure that Sky will be broadcasting the contractual minimum amount of games - coming live from an empty stadium near you.

If they could have solved all their problems by offering OGS the job, they would have done it, unless they feel they have someone better lined up.

Are they going to tell you or me who that person is? Of course not. I know it's hard to have patience, especially with their poor track record, but I believe this search is different to the last, because it was such a monumental **** up with McLeish. If cost cutting was the only consideration before, then Randy knows he can't get away with it again - for his own sake.

We've seen in another thread that AV is the 19th richest brand in world football, ahead of Newcastle. Randy is going to have to spend to keep the brand up their, protect his investment and maintain a high sell on price.

This managerial appointment is the biggest decision his team have had to make, so I'll give a couple of weeks to make it as I'm sure no one knows how important it is to get right more than Randy and Faulkner this time around.

    Finally some sanity...

  2. Just been doing a bit of digging into this actor's tweets and his friends....following the trail.

    :detect:

He's a Villa fan. This caught my interest.

    Andy Townsend ‏@AndyTownsend_AV

@louismurrall Good Man ! I rate "him" & he's known not 2 take crap off his players - which lets face it is gonna happen unless he gets rid !

Why would he put the word "him" in quotation marks? Could it be that our next manager may not be a "him" at all?...

    The plot thickens...

  3. I will apologise for my misspelling on page 153, two times in the same post i wrote OSG instead of OGS, im sorry and will try not to do that again. Its hard to post over and over again at the forum at the same time as the kitchen is flooding, the bathroom is on fire, the children are using my gilette mach 3 power to shave the neighbors house goat and being watched by an enormous ice bear and my car rolling downhill by itself while the stereo is pumping out aHas "hunting high and low". :)

    Again im sorry...

    Sincerely

    Milenko :)

And I thought I was having a shit day!...

And Mr Trees can't retire, I'm gonna need a chaperone next time I make a planespotting trip to the UK...

  4. I think this thread has some how morphed into anyone who has ever played for Villa and dream teams rather than players who are still playing.

Put bluntly I did not forsee that exhumation would be required to bring some suggestions back to Villa Park.

I did suggest players who had played for us in the last five years, but, hey...

  5. (Mods, please merge if this should be "part" of the Summer rebuild thread)

Out of past Villa players from the last 5 years, if Randy was to stump up a big wad of cash for our (hopefully new) manager, which players would you bring back?

I'll start with the obvious ones:

    Barry, YES

    Milner, YES

    Young, MAYBE

Downing can **** off, on principle alone...

    Anyone else?...

  6. I have never seen Villa players play with so little heart. These are not players completely devoid of talent (a couple aside) and I cannot begin to imagine there is anyone else out there who could be so oppressive and utterly dull... This is not a squad that, on paper, should be where they are currently...

Sure, he's had his fair share of injuries, but some (in fact a lot, nay, most) of his decisions have been completely baffling...

The sooner he's gone the better, and it's only upwrads from there...

  7. I cannot see how whether we stay up or go down Randy has any other option but to terminate his employment. For those that argue he can't afford to sack him I would argue he can't afford NOT to sack him.

Our attendance is down around 6000 on average this season. Over a season at £25 average ticket price thats around £3m. That could rise to 10000 or more if AM stays. Thats almost £6m. If we do go down and he keeps AM that will compound the lost revenue from attendances even further so if we go down it makes sense to get rid of him even more because Lerner will realise he will need all the fans money and support he can get.

For those on here that have the opinion Lerner should go and is clueless I would say this. Lerner is guilty of the following:

    1. Not listening to his fan base or understanding the gravity of appointing McLeish. I can understand this to a certain extent because as a boss sometimes you have to take an unpopular decision and go with what you believe over the advice of others. The skill in making these decisions is being honest enough to go, ok I **** up there I need to put that right. I think (hope) Randy is wise enough to do this. I'm confident this will be the case if you read point 2

    2. Allowing MON to have too much say in the running of the club that ended in poor financial decisions being made that we are having to rectify now. This would have happened regardless of the manager and I believe the way the club is being run from a finance point of view is the right way now to ensure Villa do not become the next Leeds / Pompey.

    3. Listening to people who are giving him very poor advice on football matters. I think we'll probably find that Randy has learned (if you'll excuse the pun) a great deal about running a football club, Aston Villa as a business and an institution this season and also whom he should not have any trust in the next time they offer advice.

I think Randy is an excellent patron of Aston Villa who undoubtedly has the good of Aston Villa and its long term future at heart he just listens to the wrong people in the critical matters. I don't imagine a man as wealthy as he is will not use the experience of this season and come back better for it.

For those who want rid of him, I understand that point of view and can see where its born from but as the old saying goes be careful what you wish for cos we might just get it!! ( see Venky's / Gillette's / Shinawatra / Yeung / Sullivans)

Can't help but agree with all of this...

  8. I don't know if this is a good idea or not...

What if everyone, at the next home game - being the last home game of the season (and assuming we lose) threw a scarf/hat/some kind of Villa paraphernalia onto the pitch? Giving the message that the fans have lost faith in the current "regime", and (perhaps) want no part of it until it's fixed...

    Thoughts?...
