  1. James Milner is a Champions League quality player, the only player we have who is (imo) unquestionably of that standard. I'm not sure we can, or really should, get in the way of a move to his proper level. I'd love to think we could hold onto him, but really, he needs to step up now if he is to properly fulfil his massive potential to go on and become a genuine world class talent.

Good luck James whatever you chose to do, and thanks for this last season

So you don't want "Champions League quality" players in our side? Tell me then, how exactly will we qualify for the champions league?

  2. Sorry, but in my opinion

Gerrard , Lampard, Scholes , Giggs, Essien, Arshavin, Ballack , Modric, Hargreaves, J Cole, Fabregas, Barry, Nasri, Ballack (and a few others but I think I've proved my point)

Yes - they are better than Milner, and if you don't , you are having a laugh.

However, again :bang: what I am saying is - it don't matter how good they are, because they are so good, tghey wouldn't consider the Villa.

However, there are players that are far far far better than Milner out there, who if we sold him for 30m, we could get at half the price.

Just another one into the ring. And a) we have been linked with him , B) Now Cesc is going to Barca , he is virtually guarenteed being available.

    Alex Hleb !

or similar with Madrid looking at midfielders - Van de Vaart

Vdv only slightly older than Milner, better in ability , similar role - half price.

Can I please get this through to people once and for all.

I like James Milner, all I am saying is he is by no means "great" - he is good , there are plenty on here hailing him as "the best" that were saying in January - he doesn't cut it in central midfield , we need NRC back.

30m - for a 24 yr old that is still seen as "potential" is not to be sniffed at when you can get world class players of a similar position (look at Arshavin) for half the price

    And that is all !

    I couldn't agree more...

People though Gareth Barry was gonna leave a huge whole, and we didn't miss him at all. Milner will be replaceable too, but I can't see him being let go until sfter the World Cup when his value could just increase a little, and give MON more to spend...

Personally, though, I hope stays and keeps improving...

  3. "Football is all ifs and buts"

Last time I checked Football is about scoring goals. Fact is we should have been playing against 10 Man U men instead of 11, and I don't know about you but I'd rather play Man U with a man advantage any day.

I know Reading are not Man U, but who here seriously at half-time expected that us to win 4-2?

This Villa side of ours showed against Reading that they are capable of anything, and we have shown this season we can beat anyone in the Premier League, including Man U at Old Trafford.

And who's to say Fergie wouldn't have taken Owen of for a defender?

Thanks to Dowd, we'll never know...

    Cheers,

  4. Just a thought:

The Premier League needs Man U to be successful... I would imagine the PL gets a percentage of all merchandise sales from all clubs (use of the PL logo etc.?) They must be worth millions of $ to the coffers, right? Huge in Asia, I believe... If Man U don't win anything in a season, how much money would the PL loose? Millions I reckon. Now, they're not certainties for the League, out of the FA Cup, but guess what, they've still got a chance in the League Cup! And what do you know....

Now, I wonder if there is any correlation between this and all those 4 minute stoppage time periods when they NEED a goal to win a game or even draw level. No other club in the League gets what they get. NO OTHER CLUB. Why? If Man U win the League, or anything else for that matter, a million little Chinese kids want a Man U shirt (with the PL logo)... :? Cheers, PriceyDownunder
