Frustrating to watch but actually a decent point!

Absolutely. Setting up to at least get a point on the road against a side who just beat a high pressing team is a decent result.

The thing I like about Unai is that even when we set up defensively we still have, through the course of the match, multiple chances to win the game. It's not like we are parking the bus and hoping for a goal.

  2. Wolves manager just admitted Unai refused to play the way they wanted. Wanted us to come out and press and catch us on the break. Unai set us up to mitigate their counter which also neutered our attacking intent. Draw probably the fair result.

  3. Great clipped in ball for the assist. This formation left him so isolated. In the 2nd half the lines were more connected and he finally got a couple decent chances. Don't want to see that formation again unless we are defending for our lives.

Unai has us technically sound, if we were a boxer, Unai has our footwork down, our head movement is terrific, we can jab, counter and move.

Ollie gives us a massive right hand, he's a knockout punch on top of all the technical stuff Unai brings - it's a really good fit.

To keep the metaphor going, Diaby is the quick left jab and Bertie is the massive uppercut when all else fails and your on the roaps.

Buendia just isn't that good. Bailey has improved this season, but still not nailing down that right wing position.

Zaniolo has more about his game than both. He works hard, closes down like Buendia, but actually has real physical presence, and is a far better dribbler than Buendia.

For me Zaniolo has a no ceiling the guy can be anything he wants!

No one closes down like Buendia outside of Watkins. Against Zrinjski, The forward press was comical in its lethargy. Duran and Zaniolo jogging about aimlessly.  I would describe Zaniolo's work rate as sufficient but in no ways top drawer. He's already technically gifted and a physical specimen. No need to prescribe other attributes that other players in the squad clearly do better.

  6. Metatarsal fractures are tricky. They can re-break even after a full healing. See below:

Background: Many surgeons agree that fifth metatarsal stress fractures have a tendency toward delayed union, nonunion, and possibly refracture. Difficulty healing seems to be correlated with fracture classification. However, refracture sometimes occurs after low-grade fracture, even long after apparent resolution.

I remember Rooney having an issue with this way back. It happens. At least we have some attacking depth now so the wheels don't fall off when one player goes down injured.

  7. Doku plays on the left and already has more minutes and starts than Grealish.  City have found their left wing starter and Jack will be getting garbage time minutes by the end of the season. I'm only saying this because I can see the Jack back to Villa campaign getting stirred up as soon as Doku cements his place as first choice. I just want to say absolutely not.  His wages are to high for any kind of loan and especially don't want to pay whatever fee City would ask for.  It was nice the first time around but sometimes you have to, Just Say No!

There are about 10 Villa players I wouldn't swap Biscuit Shins for - and Dougie is top of the list.

Agree. Man City Jack doesn't even get into our first 11. He looks half the player he was at Villa. Glad we cashed in when we did.

Douglas is so far beyond him. Can play anywhere on the pitch bar keeper and do a job.

All this situation with Liverpool does is to highlight just how dodgy the whole thing is.

They finally get a stinker of a decision go against them (Note as I have stated many times before that it just happened to be against another scummy 6 / big London club, as the chances of one like that going against them against one of the other teams, are virtually zero) and look at the reaction! Threats to sue, demanding a recording of the incident etc etc etc. The media are all over it & they literally all cry like babies over it all!

How many times have we been robbed against those teams over the last 10 years with a catalogue of just as dodgy & i'd argue in some cases even worse "decisions"?!

The crazy reaction, to what was basically an offside that went against them, just proves how not used to getting a poor decision they actually are. Of course now no doubt they'll get another shed load of dodgy decisions go for them as the FA try to repay them at the expense of the rest of us (But we won't be supposed to say anything about it of course as "It all balances out over a season" & all of that usual tripe).

Came here to say exactly this. Liverpool getting jobbed on one call has created this level of reaction amongst the media. Absolutely hilarious. Refs are humans and will make mistakes. VAR is about improving the referee process, which it absolutely has accomplished.

Klopp and the Liverpool players have to love how they have been completely absolved of the loss versus Tottenham. It's all VARs fault. Why does VAR keep picking on Liverpool? Big ol babies. The Top 6 is just mad their little mini league has been gate crashed by us, Brighton and Newcastle. Expect more of this whining in the future from the supposed elite clubs of the PL.

Everyone else is out celebrating and Pau is at home waiting for his paella.

    Not even winter yet, Pau!

Pau and I have the same paella pan. Pau know's paella. I feel like that should be a shirt at the Villa store lol.

  11. Rewatching the game. Douglas going down like a sack of potatoes and fouling Solly March with his head is too funny. No man as graceful as Douglas could ever fall so clumsily. Absolutely meant it. 😂

That's mostly true. When he played 4-2-3-1 with McGinn and Doug in the double pivot, McGinn was the one with freedom to go forward. You can argue he should have given Doug the freedom instead, but then he would have been misusing McGinn. Neither was a 6. We had Nakamba, but he gave away the ball far too easily.

Signing Kamara is what gave us the power to unleash Doug...I think we'll all agree that SG failed to recognize that.

Truly amazing that slippy, one of the great midfielders in his generation, could watch Douglas in training every day and think he wasn't part of our best 11.

If I remember correctly wasn't it a forced injury that made him finally play Bouba and Douglas together. What a since.
