  1. What a win!

Delph just pips KEA to my motm for that stunning finish; the pause to see if it went in before going mental; and the pst match interview where he was angry at himself for not scoring again. His attitude is spot on. Yet Tom Cleverley keeps getting in the England squad LOL.

Bacuna was brilliant again. Bennett played really well and took a vital booking for the team. Baker was top yet again, keeping (the better technically) Clark out of the team at the moment and rightly so. Vlaar is a man who makes me go weak at the knees

Midfield three were sensational today given what they were up against. I think if we sign an attacking midfielder it would be KEA to make way but with performances like the last few weeks it gets increasingly hard to drop him.

Benteke was great today, yeah he didn't score but he was a nightmare for them and came very close a couple of times. Weimann keeps harrying and keeps the opposition guessing. Gabby was quiet but the substitution for Marc was the correct move and he really exploited them once they were down to ten.

I think this is probably our best performance of the season. Clean sheet and beating the best team in the league (IMO), amazing.

When was the last time we won three home games on the bounce? Bring on Stoke.

When was the last time we won three GAMES on the bounce!?

  2. I agree with that list apart from the final game against Spurs, especially if they play with a 4-4-2 like they are at the moment.

3 points from that one I reckon.

  3.

The type of player Grealish is, he will learn nothing playing in a struggling side such as notts county.

Id never agreed regards him going out on loan because i believe he is good enough to get a run out in the odd game as a sub.

I dare to say it but i dont know if he is the type of player Lambert likes. I.e he has creativity and isnt an ABC player.

People will come back that he isnt strong enough, well he was as strong as Bennett last year and he got playing the full season.

Last point, Grealish will offer u more coming on as a sub as Bowery would on the wing. Cardiff game as an example.

First point, he will gain experience of playing regular football, the build up, the mental state of playing for points that mean something. It will also help him grow as a player and ensure he is not one of those players who wants to play at this level when he's older. If Lambert didn't like him why did he use him in pre-season, why did he say the boy is talented at the fans forum but says needs experience. The lad is 18 years old, its better for him to be playing than bits of first team football. Bowery wasn't bought on as a winger against Cardiff he was bought on to play up front. Jack will come back more determined to make that step up from this experience IMO. We have seen with the Fonz, by bringing him in too early, the kid thought he had made it, not saying Jack will be the same but it happens. The way Carruthers has been built up to be some of midfield maestro, can't even get into the MK Dons side. Gabby was atrocious in his loan spells, but he came back more determined to put in all the effort to ensure he does not play at that level again. He is only on loan till Jan anyway, so he may be back and also may be a reason why PL is not looking at wingers as he has two in our youth set up who have the attributes to be really good i.e. Grealish and Graham.

    Agree entirely with that.

I'd also add that when a youngster goes on loan to a side lower down the divisions, they're playing with guys who's bonuses for winning and/or clean sheets make a real difference to their wage packet every week; especially in this day and age when the youngsters going out on loan are probably on a higher wage than most league 1 or 2 players!

  4. My granddad was born in Aston, was offered a contract by Villa in the early 1930's when he was 17 but my great granddad told him to go and work for the brewery instead, as a career as a footballer was short-lived an not that well paid in those days...

My Dad grew up in Perry Barr.

If I wanted to see live football then he wouldn't take me anywhere else than Villa Park.

First game i saw was a 0-0 draw with Leeds, second game was a 0-4 loss to Arsenal. Think it was the 1994/95 season where we almost went down.

The season after was great though. That's when I fell in love with the Villa.

  5. Bannan is one of those few footballers at the top level that always seems to find space, due to the fact his stature let's him turn quicker and also his footballing brain is about three passes ahead of anyone else on the team.

Its wonderful to see such a determined young man making his mark on the first team, his self belief is top notch and channeled in the correct way to succeed.

  6. Our third wasn't really against the run of play, Bannan came on and suddenly we had someone who could keep the ball ticking. I think I counted 5 touches by him in build up to the third goal.

Will hopefully get a few more appearences this season, can't wait to see him own the park on Tuesday against Hereford.

  7. Just watched Nowhere Boy, it's got Aaron Jonhson (The lead from Kick Ass) playing a young John Lennon, which I think he played pretty well on the whole.

Kristan Scott-Thomas and Ann-Marie Duff are excellent in it though, and the soundtrack is very good.

  8. Just a quick question on getting outfits.

When one of the bullet points say you need to "explore" somewhere i.e Pikes's Basin, do you just need to go to that part of the map or is there something you need to do in particular when you are there?

  9. Calling for the managers head after a game like this is the easy way out in my opinion.

7-1 granted, that isn't good enough. But such is the state of football these days that everyone wants success immedietly, and it just doesn't work like that. "Bring in a world class midfielder & striker"- its not going to happen, we don't have the wage structure, the money for the immediate transfer AND most importantly the reputation to bring in players like that.

Changing the manager won't alter this. There is noone else better out there for a start.

So yes I'm annoyed at today, but annoyed with what have acheived this season? Not at all.

All teams have fickle fans I know that, it just riles me when they associate themselves with the club I love.

  10. Anyone know how to get the "score a penalty in the arena" with your pro? Ive tried going through set pieces and putting the free kick in the box and scoring the resulting pen, but to no avail!
