  1. Another anonymous performance from Gabby.Cannot remember a single effort on goal from him. Against the better teams, simply being quick isn't enough. Also Petrov, well past his sell by date. We are close to being a top 4 team, just need that quality playmaker and a couple of truly dangerous forwards who can finish teams off once we have them on the backfoot.A tale of what might have been today.

  2. Citeh are very certain for 4th now, but the dirty cheating scousers will surely find a way of buying some refs.

Oh, and there aren't more Blosers in the south of the city, the whole north south divide is a myth. There are probably more blosers in Sheldon, Yardley and Chelmsley than Villa but there are probably an equal number of plastic Manure, scouse and chelsea fans.

I'd say the north of the city was about the same, I see more manure shirts around these days than Villa ones  Such is the joy of imprinting brand identity on children these days.... :x

I live in Sutton Coldfield, I was born in Erdington. You must be joking about the North of the city being the same. Blues shirts are rarer than an Arab at a synagogue. I can honestly say that almost every shirt I see here is claret and Blue, with the odd Baggies shirt straying over . Chelmsley is always thought of as Nose territory, but trust me there are more than a few Villa fans there.

Sorry mate think you misread my post - or perhaps I didnt make myself clear....

In the north of the city its granted that there are more Villa about but probably an equal number of gloryhunters. I see Liverpool and Manure shirts all the time in Handsworth, Winson etc. Blosers are rare but not unheard of - I see blosers in Bearwood all the time.

In the south things are less clear cut, its a mix of Blose, Villa and the gloryhunters, and you only really see them everywhere in the obvious places. But there is probably no difference there either, just the knuckldraggers like to wear their shitty tops more often.

As for erdington - I've seen loads of blosers walking about there!

We'll have to agree to disagree. I've lived here all my life, and I just don't see em. Maybe 1 nose is running around trying to look like a crowd . 40 years ago, ONLY Villa, Blues and Baggie colours were seen in Birmingham. Sad reflection on parents that they pander to the seduction of their kids by Sky. One positive trend is that more and more of our ethnic fans are showing alleigance to their home city club.

  4. The term Worldwide recession is a myth, one perpetuated by those with a vested interest

Rubbish - the economy of every country is so interlinked that this was a world wide recession. The impacts are there for all to see except those that are too blinkered to see past their particular hatred of one political party and the crave for power

It was a global recession in that sense that it involved more countries than it didn't, much like a world war. However our financial centre was one of two internationally that drove the world off a cliff. I'm afraid it is you wearing the blinkers mate and this can be shown by observing a few simple points:

1)During the 1997-2007 boom years the Government consistently spent more than it took in in tax revenues, saving nothing and borrowing to fund the gap. So, when the shit hit the fan the man who bragged he'd "abolished boom and bust" had left the country woefully unprepared in terms or Treasury reserves. This can be understood once you realise he actually believed that he'd abolished the economic cycle. This is also the man some people on this thread want to continue as Prime Minister.

2)The then Chancellor and now Prime Minister put his own system of financial regulation in to supervise the banking sector and it comprehensively failed. That led to reckless behaviour by banks (egged on by No. 11 for ever greater tax receipts) and resulted in the 'global' financial meltdown we have suffered under since.

3)Brown did not directly cause the recession but he is certainly culpable for it's severity and the resulting debt mountain that threatens our economic recovery. Worse, it will result in the gutting of public service budgets in order to get both debt and deficit back to a credible (for the markets and money lenders) and manageable (for the taxpayer) level.

Setting aside the staggering waste and (non)job creation schemes in the public sector, much good work was done between 1997-2004/5 in improving the public services. Basically all of that will be undone now because old Prudence discovered a taste for spendaholism that we, UK Plc, will have to pick up the tab for.

That is not a party political point of view, it is simply an observation of the basic facts.

EVERY government spends more than it receives in taxes. The Tories actually borrowed even more than Labour prior to this recession due to the immense economic destruction they caused. And that one was not worlwide.

Most of the deregulation in this country was instigated by Thatcher. The global financial meltdown was primarily caused by American toxic debts being traded worldwide and subsequently being picked up by amongst others, UK banks. Do you really believe the Tories would have dared regulate their cronies in the city of London.

Whatever the causes of the recession, which thankfully we now seem to be slowly coming out of. I have no doubt that the traditional Tory washing of their hands and leaving it to the market philosophy, would have resulted in a far worse state of affairs .

.Incidentally in both World Wars there were more non combatant nations than those fighting. This opinion of course is based on facts not assumptions.

  5. The recession was worldwide

This simply isn't true, it is a lie, plenty of countries did not enter into recession. Australia being one prime example. And Gordo's policies and decisioms, certainly contributed to the recession, as one of the THE big worldwide financial centres our influence was far and wide and as Mr Brown was the one responsible for implementing a regulatory body with a pair of false teeth that had flushed down the bog, yes we were hugely responsible, probably second behind the USA in terms of culpability

The term Worldwide recession is a myth, one perpetuated by those with a vested interest

USA,Uk,Germany,Japan,France, and many more were in a recession .You say Australia wasn't affected, fair enough. It would however seem all the MAJOR economies were. To most people that could legitimately be classed as worldwide. The point is the recession was not caused by Gordon Brown, only those with a vested interest could perpetuate that myth.

  6. Hang on dude, what you say the Tories will do is exactly what Labour have been doing for the last thirteen years! You ignore what Labour have done and say that is what the Tories will do as a justification for not voting for them. I'm not trying to say who you should vote for, just that you seem a bit blinkered to reality.
The Tories haven't changed tho, they still are very much clung to their old policies. I am voting Labour because I prefer stability, I don't see Cameron improving the country one little bit. Cons will make it harder for the poor families.

… but we’ve just gone through the worst depression since the 1920’s, how is that a mark of stability?

The recession was worldwide, do you believe Labour created a worldwide slump. I don't think our economic influence stretches that far. I do believe sensible and prudent support for our economy has enabled us to ride out the worst effects. The Tory response has always been to throw businesses onto the tender mercies of "the market". Which caused a terrible recession in the eighties, far worse than this one.Yes we have suffered a small shrinking of the economy, as has every major industrial nation. But this comes after the longest sustained period of economic growth in our history. I'll trust Labour to do whats best for the country, you can keep that spiv Cameron and his dodgy bank clerk Osborne. I just don't trust them or their kind.

  7. also a shout out to moronic fans, moaning and groaning cus we were passing the ball sideways, keeping possession and tiring them by making them chase the ball - shut the **** up with moaning you words removed

our best move came after 10/12 passes across the pitch a couple of times, then milner had a shot (only useful thing he did all night) which Van DerSar saved. and the terry fuckwits by me were still moaning

    **** rocket polishers

You might have something interesting to say, a valid observation on a particular aspect of a match. Take it from me, people will value your opinions more if you temper the obscene language. It makes you sound less like a fan and more like a chav.

  8. Of course he'll come across pretty well: he's Tony Blair.

He's one of the most convincing public speakers and con men we've seen in an age.

The point was what he said and what he didn't say not how he said it.

He could probably read the text of an Osama Bin Laden call to arms and 'come across pretty well'.

Various accusation there without any specific facts. You don't like him, fair enough. I thought he did a good job in his term of office. Told the truth more than that old Harpie Thatcher ever did.But then ' I didn't like her. Guess our prejudices tend to influence our perceptions.

  9. Those c***ts at Sky have seduced an awful lot of football fans. **** the Champions League. **** players who only want to play for you if your in the overated plastic football fest. **** all the bankers and money men who demand we as fans sacrifice everything to get on the Champions League bandwagon.Scrabbling for fourth spot aint what I watch football for. Give me real football everytime. That means great days out with your mates at Wembley. Up the Villa. :hooray:

  10. I think if we came 4th then we would be able to attract a player or two of a higher class.. If we won the League Cup then I don't think we would..

That's why I think 4th is better for the development of villa

Fair point. But take it from me, when your old and grey and your hearing and sight start to fail, its the memories of the cups you won that warm your heart. Somehow remembering the wonderful "developement " of the seasonn 09-10 just wont do the trick. Glory is coloured silver.

  11. 4th.

and then the cups will flow in future years.

yeah. Just like Newcastle and Everton......er :?

You are right I'd rather be like oh I don't know Boro or Leicester who have really felt the benefit of the league cup wins.

Selective clubs. Why not mention Man. Utd Liverpool etc.winning the League cup. Even our glory years were started by us winning the said trophy. Nobody remembers finishing fourth in anything. Call me old fashioned , but winning silverware at Wembley still holds an attraction for this old timer.

  12. The Dambusters. **** the fictional heroics of fictional characters in Pearl Harbour. This was a story about real people who showed incredible heroism in an amazing raid. Deserves to be given the benefit of todays special effects boys. If it had been an American operation I have no doubt it would already have been done. Still there were British , Australian, New Zealand and Canadian boys involved. Would love to see this made.
