Have we actually announced this loan? seems to have passed me by
-
Would Barry not to be slow with Terry in defense and Jed besdie him?
The combination of Terry in defense and Barry in midfield was too slow in 2010 let alone 7 years later (See England vs Germany WC 2010)

He's clearly a player they think would add something to their squad.
A loan gives them that addition without the risk of whatever they found in the medical to turn him into a flop of a signing.
it's cheeky but if we want his wages off our books for a season then I can see us accepting it.
Loan for this season forced to buy at end of season is only loan I would give, 3 million to loan plus original fee agreed to buy.

I think ManU are trying to punish us for revealing SJ as what he is.
A shit GK who doesnt dominate his 6yrd box let alone the penalty box, Punches because he cant/wont catch, lets in shots that are not at him, his kicking and distribution is awful.
Im not talking about his abilityetc. That I have to rely on Steve Bruce and the goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh who really rates him. But we shouldn't be loaning him for a second season. We had our try before buy last season. We need to be embedding a goalie who will be our goalie for next say 5-10 years.
Unless this is loan then buy to get around FFP, I don't see the point. If he has a great season with and due to us, we then are probably going to lose him.
As for it being good to loan as he is average and we can get rid when promoted, there will always be buyers see the kid from Barca we bought.

I hate this being a loan. We should not be developing a goalie for a second year for Man U.
Is this loan with option to buy?

@avfctransfers1 has said he's heard nothing on Joe Hart as of yet, but if he does we'll be the first ones to know.
So until he says a medical is booked in I won't believe what I read.
I follow that account as well. But he did say Terry's medical was changed to London and he didnt know why so perhaps Hart would have a medical in Portugal?
-
If we are getting Hart does that explain why the goalkeeper shirts are £5 more expensive than the home and away shirts?
-
Didnt David James drop down with West Ham for one season?
-
Whether we get Hart, Johnstone or another goalie, we need to get a shift on.
I would rather that the new goalie bonds with his new defense during pre-season than in our competitive matches.

You're lucky if you've experienced 5 or 6 tears.
I cried 96 tears... and that's too many teardrops for one heart, to be crying.
Too many teardrops, for one heart to carry on...

Did he not get better the longer he played last season?
Think the Boro rumours were Man U rying to push the price up.
Over the past few seasons we have had a lot of Shot Stoppers like Given and at first Guzan but not a goalie who could work with his defense as a unit and organise the beggars.
Going back Jimmy Rimmer wasnt flash but was solid and just did his job. Friedal again lasted so long as he could arrange a defensive unit and not just rely on his shot stopping skills.
Perhaps Johnstone is that sort of goalie. Works as part of the defense instead of being simply the last line of defense.

It was only the season before last that there was talk about him returning to the England Team.

It'd make it Steer, Bunn and Ruddy we'd had off them in the last few years.
Bunn technically came from Bristol City didnt he?
-
I think he will be offered opportunities to develop his Coaching/Manager Career at Villa. He is taking the badges so he is interested and Villa are not a bad place to develop as if all goes to plan he can find himself a manager at a premiership club.
Is it such a bad thing to have some sort of plan to succeed a manager? The biggest failure at Man U was that twice now they have not developed a successor to the Manager when he retires (Thinking Busby and Fergie). Look at Barca, they allowed Pep to develop and he then stepped up when Van Gal left. He knew the club players that were coming through etc and the rest is history.

Back in the Day your number 2 would play Reserve Footy to keep sharp, now the Reserve Goalie who sits on the Bench doesnt see much action as they just train with First Team and sit on the Bench. They are often like Bunn a journey man who is happy to sit there just in case. The ones like Steer see a lot more competitive action in the Reserves and are 'developed'.
Unfortunately due to the last couple of seasons our number ones being less than crap, Bunn has seen a lot more action than was anticipated.

Come on that's weak. So Dwight Yorke, a young kid who came from a completely different country needed time so everyone does?
I don't remember Carew and Young struggling when they joined in January. See I can come up with pointless examples as well.
Like I said, how did playing lansbury DM help him settle and get the best from him? How did dropping hourihane for bacuna help one of the league's best performing midfielders settle? How did lumping balls to Hogan help him settle.
I love the fact because I dislike disgusting behaviour from people and don't have faith in Steve Bruce, that to you, that makes me a troll.
Carew hit the ground running but Young did struggle when he first arrived. Didn't really do much until the following season.

As we keep talking about old players coming back to us and needing experience at this level I think I saw Peter Whittingham was released by Cardiff.
-
When peter Schmeichel came to Villa, Ian Taylor said the whole changing room sat up and gave them a lift.
Taylor Mk 1 brought in old heads like Steve Simms and Mark Lillis to help us out of the division.
Big Ron - He brought in loads of old experienced, Ive Seen Frank MacVennie play up front for Villa! Les Sealey etc And even Big Crylle Regis that first season.
Sometimes an Old head can help calm everyone down.
Saying that not sure about Terry as never really liked him.

I thought we already had a sponsor lined up just not yet announced.

Personally I would prefer Bruce starts defining how he want his team to play with these players and not the kids. The squad overall is pretty new in relative terms (Less than one year), so blooding them in and get them on same wavelength is of importance.
Put the kids on here and there but not just play them for sake of.
-
Not convinced by Bruce but I can't think of anyone who could do better for us that would be available.
He needs a pre season to bed down his ideas and we can judge him on next season.
Reminds me of when Brian Little came in. Struggled and just made it to the end of the season without being relegated. Had a pre-season and we Came out a totally different team the next season.
The end of last season the club was in a dark dark hole. We are at least peering out of it now. It has been rough but the rot looks to have been stopped.

Transfer Speculation Summer 2017

It is 7 years later and I would say both of them are not at the same standard they were in 2010
