  1. assuming it is depression (and til told otherwise think its fair to assume this) it is a perfectly valid explaination to what happened. having lived with someone who had severe depression i can, like others on here have, tell you what a horrible illness it is. to everyone outside they appear perfectly normal - hence why savage etc cant begin to explain why he did it. but living with them is a nightmare as they lash out on those closest to them. they cant help it, and theres nothing you can do to help things. horrible as it may sound, but it wouldnt surprise me if this wasnt a complete shock to his wife...just hope she doesnt blame herself as there is nothing she could have done (assuming the twatter rumours are false of course)

  2. Not sure if this should have belong in main villa page but just seen some quotes on swansea forum about us on sunday. was nice to read

Got to say well done to the villa fans today, for starting applause for Gary speed earlier, thought it was very fitting for such a great football man.R.I.P Gary Speed.

IMO, best we have had for a few seasons.

Deep respect to the "Villans" who started the applause and to all their fans who joined us singing/ chanting "one Gary Speed".

Agree their team just tried to clog us on the pitch, but their fans are good as gold off it and their club should be proud of them. I am, as are many Swans fans.

Top notch club, with top notch fans

Best supporters we've had down here this season.

New found respect for Villa fans today
  3. Why is the majority of criticism being pointed at Mcleish.

The board have sold Downing and Young and have only replaced him with NZogbia.

Fair Enough Given was a good singing.

They have told him he needs to reduce the squad and wages.

What do you expect. I don't like Mclciesh anymore than the next person but he is doing the best with a self depleted, utterly dire squad with no money.

Is Mccleish really responsible for the big picture...?

because people need a scapegoat and if you're being managed by a bluenose it's always going to happen. If we were managed by a villa legend, you can guarantee people would be criticising lerner far more and blaming our performances on the squad, not the tactics.

100% agree...people can say they dont care where we got him from all they like but we all know thats the root of most of his hate.

if this was mcgrath managing and picking the same teams as eck with the same results who on here can honestly say they would be calling him a word removed and wanting him out?

  4. Rafa interviewed ?? News to me

i heard he turned us down cause he wanted 50m to spend

im prob the only fan of heskey's but even ill admit today wasnt his best game. delph had a lot of energy but wasnt great. gabby looked a threat every time he got the ball. bent couldnt be arsed. herd great game, very composed on the ball and would have been my MOTM had gabby not been on the pitch. n'zog was decent 2nd half.

2 new fullbacks in jan please

RIP gary speed - not sure if its been mentioned but it was villa fans that turned silence into applause

  5. great night out...reflex turned into a villa bar...kc and the sunshine band came on and the whole place sang along 'darren darren bent'! similar for karma chameleon for gabby...then hi ho aston villa for good measure! locals sound...no problems at all

in terms of women there are some right monsters there

  6. Advice I've been given is that people should stick to a proper looking pub i.e Yates', Wetherspoons etc. I think we're just gonna see what the feeling is and maybe go out properly but we'll have to see.

yeah they serve everything in plastic in those places...could be a wise idea that!

  7. someone said on H&V that as of wednesday last week, there were 330 tickets left to sell. just about manage it, do you reckon?

better turn out than i was expecting. half day off work, hopefully get too drunk to care about the result

  8. crap allocation

That's the most they give anyone mate it's only a small stadium we're not being short-changed.

ah right thought it was a bigger ground than that and that we would get 2500 maybe

  9. Let's face it we had this coming and over the next few months there is a good chance we will get another couple of hammerings. I blame our shit owner and board! I wish he would **** off back to the states For good!

By shit I presume you mean not rich enough. Ultimately that's the only thing that defines an owners qualities nowadays.

We will take another couple of hammerings, we're playing in a league where there are a small number of teams that are massively better equipped than the rest of us.

Today feels like a 3rd round cup tie with us cast as minnows.

    I hate the Premier League.

yep agree...the sooner the likes of city piss off and start a super league with all the tv rights and awful kick off times the better. we are miles behind these clubs as are most of the teams in this league. better teams than us will also receive hidings away to man city because of the wealth of talent they have purchased.

but of course, its all randy's fault isnt it...

  10. If you thought he was shite today you're just blinkered in your opinions of him. His touch was good, his passing was good and his workrate was good. I don't think we should let prejudices we have with this guy rob us of a potentially good player. Fair enough if he plays shite say he was shite but today he wasn't.

    This.

There are too many people at VP who justvhurl abuse at him when he has the ball just because they just don't want him to do well.

this again...we always seem to have one player scapegoat every season...petrov, heskey, ireland etc where they can do no right in some people's eyes. people just dont want to say 'i was wrong about him'

  11. when he spooned that shot, his head dropped straight away. complete confidence player who is lacking confidence at the mo. one goal and we will see his best and end up being one of the first names on the teamsheet. he is improving and hopefully the warm reception he received today will help. man city is a massive game for him...chance to show what a mistake they made shipping him out

  12. Sold out.

Always happens just as I decide to go...

not a dig at you mate as i am sure there are others that were undecided...if people didnt wait til the last minute to decide perhaps we might actually start taking the full allocation for tickets. newcastle had twice as far to travel yet still took both tiers on a monday night
