All true but if we don’t achieve 4th or the cup win, it will take me a while to really appreciate all of that, but I will.

same. it will hurt for a while, and having a summer of piss taking from people saying how we've bottled it won't help

  2. since playing MLB the show 24 on xbox i've come to realise baseball isn't as shit as i originally thought and am keeping an eye on the marlins (only because i'm a bit of a dolphins fan and miami is my favourite of the small number of US cities i've been to)

    i don't think i've chosen very well.

    Would be lovely right?!

I don't know I just get the feeling it will go to the wire. All the injuries we've had and with what happened with 5th not getting CL. Just points towards another twist. I hope not and I would expect Spurs to get a maximum of two points in their next two games.

i agree i think it'll go to the wire too. we SHOULD beat brighton (and on current form you'd argue liverpool too) but there will be a twist and turn i'm sure.

i don't think it will be as bad as us needing a win on the final day, but i can see it being a situation where we need to avoid defeat

     My excellent post regained

We're in a better position now relative to Spurs than if we had have both won this weeked, and now can't go above us even if they win their games in hand, it's not even guaranteed they will beat both of Burnley and Sheffield United

sheff utd, yes i'd say that's about as safe a bet as you're likely to get

we need to hope that burnley have a chance of survival though. teams fighting for their lives have a tendancy to spring the odd surprise

Bizarre statement. I’ve not seen anyone post saying they wouldn’t mind selling him off the back of a couple of recent performances.

as has been said by a number of people, we're right on the line for FFP. failure to get CL means someone is leaving this summer. he's the one that (IMO) we would miss the least of the key players as has been proven in games he's missed

I feel like I need to preface this by saying that 7 points out of 9 from Bournemouth, Arsenal and Chelsea is a good return, and I'm sure if we swapped the Chelsea & Arsenal results we'd be pretty happy.

    this is a fantastic point.

this forum would read TOTALLY differently if we'd drawn to arsenal, then won against bournemouth and tonight.

While I agree that Olsen doesn't inspire confidence, the 2nd half stats were pretty much a repeat of the first - except we somehow managed to score 2.

the 2nd was definitely against the run of play. olsen changes our game play so it's fair that emi going off might have galvanised them, the same way it would if you were playing PSG and mbappe goes off.

The free hit GW34 teams have had the advantage in the end but it can't really be a mistake if it was the right decision before the GW had started, you can't control the results. Very small margins overall with huge variance involved, I played my free hit GW29 because I had about 4 players for it and already had 7 DGW players for GW34, I think it was very team dependent decision for most not because one was a clear better option.

It's a good example of just how much variance plays a part though. Reguilon red card which ruined most the Brentford picks that week and Spurs completely falling apart at Fulham with none of the other main picks even getting any returns at all has to be in the bottom 1-3% of potential point returns, it couldn't get much worse. This GW free hitters were able to gamble on different Arsenal assets like Havertz, White, Odegaard when most have Gabriel/Saliba/Saka nailed all season. Majority of the gamble picks paid off while Haaland was also missing. Everton defenders hauling despite conceding 3xG over the two games and surviving a handful of penalty claims, thinking of that someone should check the VAR guys team for double Everton defence.

I think if you were able to simulate these two GWs again 100 times I doubt you'd get a more polar set of results than the ones we got.

i don't think many could've predicted that palace result either and mateta was one of the best striker options for this week only, but you'd never have him otherwise. stuff like that just massively went against those of us that didn't FH

  9. my WC draft so far:

    definites:

haaland, watkins, isak, gordon, foden, son, palmer (edit: if fit, obvs), a spurs defender (probably porro), a newcastle defender (probably burn or schar)

    probables:

ederson, pickford, another spurs midfielder (probably johnson), dunk

    no idea:

    the remaining 2 defender spaces.

DOF mode would be good, getting to buy the players, hire/fire managers etc.

interesting idea. they don't necessarily hire/fire managers but acting as that middle man between manager and board. like recommending to sack the manager, or rejecting a manger's suggestion of a player, or suggesting players to the manager. working with manager if tactics aren't working etc

  11. think it would've been even later had we been playing fenerbahce. watched the pen shootout vs olympiakos and the commentators mentioned that it was gone 1am there when the pens were being taken!
