Reports in Germany are suggesting that Aston Villa are set to sign Anton Donkor from VfL Wolfsburg. It is being reported by Bild that Villa are set to sign the player after he was told first-team football was unlikely to be offered to him at the Volkswagen Arena.

i guess this is in the 'one for the future' category. the lad doesn't even have a wikipedia page!

Well, he's already endeared himself to the fans eh.

    Idiot.

yeah he's really shot himself in the foot here - the fans now expect him to make an impact much much quicker, IF he gets a chance...

Give it 2 games without him scoring it will be 'Kodija out!'

You are forgetting. We are not fickle.. some just don't like Westwood.

i remember when petrov was the scapegoat...give it a couple of months and it'll be someone else's turn

I just think the fact we are conceding late in so many games is what's worrying. Once or twice even fair enough. 5 times in 10 games is unforgivable and that's not including the second half capitulation against Bristol City. Getting 3 points Saturday only masks over things imo. It will happen again if we stay with the current managerial setup.

late goals are irrelevant if we killed of these games earlier. IMO we have the best squad in the league and should be smashing many of these teams we have played. on the way to Ipswich we all agreed we wouldn't have a single one of their players in our starting 11 and that goes for many of the other teams we have played but we didn't turn up even though they were there for the taking. now is the time, as 2 proven managers in bruce and big sam are available

So as a footballer you're not every allowed a bit of fun ever?  Players usually get the day following a match off.  There's no evidence to suggest he was even wasted anyway.

This is why I hate football of today, cannot relate to the players at all.  They've all been turned into footballing robots.  This is shown by their inability to hold a basic conversation in English.

if he was seen in a bar/club it wouldn't have made headlines. However, the party he hosted had to be ejected from a hotel due to unruly behavior of the guests.

Transfer request incoming an we should be happy with it. We need the money buy some Championship players that are up for the fight in a way that the current losers aren't.

definitely should sell...although transfer requests don't tend to happen anymore as the player foregoes their 10% (i think - might even be 15%) of the transfer fee if they do

If nothing else he's outed Agent Dave as a fraud be interesting to see how many of his 32k followers now think twice.

you get clowns like that every summer...like that sky sports news wannabe girl last year...they all know exactly the same as us, then jump all over every media rumour and pass it off as theirs. i did chuckle at him getting well caught out

In regards to Chester, I am a little wary. It reminds of some schoolyard wisdom. " If somebody who doesn't like you wants to give you something, chances are its not good." I am just thinking of the last centre back we bought from West Brom, and how well that turned out.

100% this...don't know much about chester, but when i saw the money we paid for lescott alarm bells rang. they knew how awful he was and were laughing their heads off that we actually paid for him

...However the the very big up side to this is that we must be confident of Amavi staying for the season!

i have a horrible feeling he will go on deadline day leaving us with no one but cissokho

It's funny how people see performances from players during a game. Westwood and Bacuna getting some real criticism and people talking positives about Ayew. I thought Ayew was shit today

I actually agree...I didn't see the drive and passion i that i saw at the back end of last season. I saw a player who was in a sulk about playing left wing when he wanted to be CF.

I actually thought he defended that incident well for not allowing the player on the inside.

Ditto. Player comes inside its a certain goal, narrow the angle and keeper is unlikely to be beaten near post

  12. I rate Baker, Elphick, and Okore over him...plus you have Toner breaking through too. Just hope we use the cash towards a playmaker or striker. His performances at the Euros confirmed how error prone he can be

I'm not buying this "gem" bollocks but he'll do ok there, it's a team where 82 year old Barry is their best player and they've let osman, pienaar etc go (think they kept Gibson in the end) a midfield of Gana Barry and Barkley isn't that bad at all, it's not the mythical top 4 type investment they were harping on about though, that's a solid 8th place team midfield

Not sure about that personally...think there are 8 better midfields in the prem than that. think it's a lazy signing for them, 'we dont need to negotiate due to release clause, contract discussions should be straightforward' etc

I liked his energy but for me he offered about as much as any other midfielder did last season...not a huge amount.

Bruce is 6/1 with Skybet, 7/1 with Ladbrokes and 10/1 with both Betfair & Paddypower today. But RDM is still 1/10, 1/8, 1/9 and 1/10 with these same bookmakers so he still remains a very strong favourite with those companies still taking bets on what is seen as close to being a sure thing with the other bookies.

A mate who heard from someone claiming to be ITK (got info from Cowans - and yes we've heard all these so called ITK rumours before) say they were waiting on the outcome of the playoff final, as Bruce would almost certainly leave. Today, he gives interview saying he is considering his future. I put £10 on him at 12/1 yesterday and the odds have halved in 24 hours.

  15. one suspects the delay in announcing ticket details could be due to arguments between blues and WMP over ticket allocation. imagine they wont want to give them the usual 4500 allocation after what happened at their place

  16. I spoke to the ticket office yesterday and said i couldnt attend, so for this game only they are putting ST holder's seats up for sale on official site if you cannot attend and giving you the equivilant in villa cash so call them up if you cant make it friday

  17. Personally I think the way they've released the tickets is fine. I've bought 15 tickets at 5 different stages and haven't spent longer than 15 min getting them. ST holders seemed to have the better choice and the choice gradually narrowed but even up until yesterday you could get some very good seats. People moaning about what seat they've got need to remember it's the FA Cup final! 3 months ago you'd have bitten someone's hand off to be sat in the worst seat at Wembley for it!

And then other people moan about the criteria. Since the semi we will have played 6 games to the final so even if you only bought those you'd get a final ticket so if you haven't bothered going before or after that game frankly I don't think you deserve one. If you're going to get on the bandwagon do it properly.

Exactly. had only 4 games on my history including the semi final so bought tickets to west ham, burnley, everton and saints. 8 games, final ticket on tuesday, job done
