I'm just not interested in European football at that level, it's shite.

You haven't enjoyed us getting the semi finals and beating the likes of Ajax?

We play 2nd string sides in the LC up until the QF. As does everyone. But you prefer that?

Each to their own, but I don't.

I didn't realise Bournemouth were such a bogey team for us. Only beat them twice in 7 games and one of those was their first match ever in the prem.

Yeah Gestede, first game. Think we won 2 more games all season and got relegated.

This isn't true at all. If we don't qualify for CL we will probably need to be bringing in profit from a big sale to keep us on right side of the rules of we plan on doing and summer transfers.

I think we will need to do that anyway regardless because we need the headroom to bring players in. The financial gap between EL and CL based on our expected progression between the two competitions would be 15m or so

    Ok.

I'm not denying at some point we will lose players.

But the idea that finishing 5th causes us to sell several of our best players doesn't add up.

Finishing 5th will cost us key players one way or another. Not just because of FFP.

Ollie has had 1 proper top class season. I highly doubt he's demanding a move if we don't get 4th.

He'd also cost an absolute fortune so that limits the kind of clubs who could buy him.

We've got a world cup winning keeper who loves this club.

I don't buy that these players will be desperate to get out if we finish 5th.

It happens to clubs every season. Clubs that are succesful, but not quite succesful enough.

It happened to us under MON too.

But fine, believe what you want. Let's hope we don't find out.

    Several of our best players.

I highly doubt we are in that much of a mess.

As I said, there are several reasons and FFP is just one. The likes of Ollie will be in high demand in pre season and CL clubs will be after him. Arsenal for example, who he supported as a kid.

Europa League won't be enough for us to keep hold of our very best players.

Not sure how scraping any English cup competition and replacing it with a European one is going to help English lower league teams, it clearly isn't.

European clubs want some of the English footballs money, a fair share and if it means stealing it away from our lower league teams then so be it.

For me the conference league is micky mouse compared to the league Cup and definitely the Fa cup. We need to protect our English football before UEFA destroy it right under the noses of our corn beef faced morons in charge.

You think playing Ajax, Olympiacos and Fiorentina is Micky Mouse compared to sending our reserves to play Barrow?

    Not a chance.

You think Emery decided to join a team that had to make champions league within 18 months or else the entire club falls apart.

No I am just explaining the current financial situation. It's pretty widely known amongst agents that Villa will need to sell if we don't make the CL. Laugh all you want. It's something I know to be true.

The more I think about Bournemouth, the more stress I get, possibly the fact Spurs aren’t playing. We have to rotate at this game, we can’t just play the usual team. I think our squad could handle this game at home, with some players coming second half.
Winning this would give us a huge confidence and rest before Spurs play, then playing a tough match against Chelsea. Really hope we could grind the win, not sure at all how, but hopefully we do.

I am also worried about the Bournemouth game. Especially after our efforts in Lille. We simply have to win though, or we let Spurs off the hook. Again.

  10. if we are in the Europa League instead of the CL, we will be doing so without several of our best players. I'm pretty sure Ollie will leave, Luiz will leave and maybe 1 or 2 others.

Not just for their ambitions, but also because of FFP.

We have to get CL. Europa is not good enough given our precarious position on the financial front.

It is utterly feeble that Fulham, Brentford and now Bourenmouth can't even shift the normal away allocation. I think all 3 games have been 3pm kick-offs and not even televised.

Though at least it gives the chance for more tickets for home fans.

I presume the club is selling this at the usual ticket price and not the reduced £30 away allocation fee?

It's because there are more Man United amd Liverpool fans in Bournemouth than there are Bournemouth fans.

Sad, but that's the case all over the country unfortunately. Glory hunting w******s.

Cheers mate you just nearly wrote off my Macbook with a coffee propulsion jet

They've been sold a dream by a snake oil salesman and they've gobbled it good and proper.

Tom Wagner is full of s*** and there is no way in hell they are ever getting a 60k stadium. Nor are they ever going to compete at the highest level. I can't see them being in the PL in the next decade never mind the top half.

They genuinely think they are the next Man City. I mean, seriously. 😆

More chance of them being the next Portsmouth, being saddled with huge debts and sliding down the leagues.

This will all end in tears. I'd put my house on it.

    I’d say it’s justice to be fair…

    Just like PSG!

They can sign the stars, they can blow everyone out of the water financially with the backing of a Gulf nations royal family wealth and they can mask it all with supposed legit forms of income in inflated sponsorship from companies they and their friends and family own…

They can dominate their own leagues by cheating and then justify it because the rules came into place after they came into large amounts of money and their divisional rivals used to spend with impunity in the 90s so they think that gives them carte blanche to break the rules because they can afford to!

They can attract interest from fans around the world who have claimed to be diehard fans since the start - who say they have the clubs blood in their veins - and who use the clubs success vicariously to justify their pathetic existences - mocking fans of other teams, calling other massive clubs “small” without actually knowing anything about the sport in that country whatsoever…

City and PSG can do all of that…

but you just can’t buy class…

Absolutely spot on. And their manager is p***k of the very highest order.

  14. Absolutely delighted that Man City are out. The day I want them to win is the day I need to give up on football.

Integrity and honesty is far more important to me than us getting into the CL by finishing 5th.

We will finish 4th anyway I think

Yeah those big Spanish teams are squeaky clean aren't they?

Exactly. The 2 biggest cheats football has ever seen playing each other.*

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than watch that.

*Honourable mentions to the 3 big Italian clubs, Chelsea, PSG and Barcelona.

Even then I thought he was only on 12-13 goals!

Chelsea didn't sign him until three games into the season so 20 goals from 27 prem games is even better than what Lampard was producing in his heyday.

    9 pens tho
