Sorry, I cant agree with this. Villa could easily fill a stadium well in excess of 50k. Especially currently. The problem is logistics and room, not demand. 50k isn't nearly enough and we should be planning for 60k at least.

At the moment there is a huge feelgood factor and that boosts demand. After several years of top 6 finishes and the CL not being as exciting to the fanbase, attendances will plateau.

I think we could currently sell 50k but 60k? No. Not for me.

Maybe for the games against the sky6 with all the day trippers but we wouldn't sell out a 60k stadium for a regular PL game.

I think 50k is sufficient. Especially given the potential cost of going any higher than that.

This appeared on Reddit last night, apparently found in a Turkish market. Obviously the spponsor is wrong. I hope to god that's just a guess by somebody, and not what the actual kit is going to look like, because it's terrible.

That is all kinds of shit.

Newcastles stadium location means they don't have the same transport issues we currently face being so central. Toon fans also are diehard and I didn’t see them having to close a tier off when they hit relegated like we did.

We will get there with a new north stand just not in the anticipated timescale of some. Once we've increase the spend per seat, get the upgraded infrastructure in place in terms of fan transportation and  open the warehouse and Holte Hotel as fan zones then I’ve no doubt they’ll look at expansion again. I hope they revisit and adapt the design but larger and redesign the exterior to be less bland.

Yeah I think the new north stand will happen, but not in the next 5 years or so.

As for any further development, I can't see us ever having an above 50k stadium at any point in the near future, which I think is fine as 50k would be enough.

Newcastle are a one club city and dont have the problem of many residents within the vacinity of the ground (and across the city) either not being into football or supporting Man United/Liverpool.

He’s 20. Obviously not ready and he might never make it at this level but maybe a bit premature to write him completely off?

Not every 20 year old fits in straight away with one of the best teams in the country.

If havent written him completely off. I said he could make a career in the lower leagues like lots of our other youth products.

No way he is staying at Villa though.

Napoli have been in terrible form and Dendonker can't even get a minute off the bench. Obviously we didn't know Kamara was going to do his ACL like 2 weeks after and Tim would be only CDM cover we have.

If we can achieve our goals this season, Tim will have learned a lot and we can see how he progresses next season or if we get a suitable offer we can sell him.

Yep and anything we get is pure profit so if we could get a 2 or 3 million bid from someone like Bolton, an upper table League One side, we should take it. And we would I'm sure.

I don't think he is at Championship level yet (nor does my QPR mate) but he may be one day.

  6. The biggest problem with Olsen starting is one that isnt even his fault.

Its that Emi psychologically makes it more difficult for opponents given his reputation.

I honestly think Lille had lost that shootout before it started. Thanks to Emi being stood between the posts.

Let's hope Emi is back soon and Olsen can hold the fort in the meantime.

As shown by Unai getting rid of a fully-fledged Belgian international over him?

That was more a question of wages. Tim isn't up to the very high standards Unai has set. No shame in that.

But Tim won't be at Villa next season.

Why would Salah go on the cheap?  If Saudi want him they'll probably have to pay £100m+

Yep. Maybe not £100m but certainly not cheap. Unless he decides to run his comtract down and pocket the "transfer fee" in increased wages.

Wasn't it in Norwich that coach of them smashed the pub up? Might be good to remind them of that

    Edit: yeah it was https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/23833851.birmingham-mob-attacks-norwich-fans-carrow-road-defeat/

Yes and that's why they have a thread entitled, "Surviving Birmingham".

Apparently Villa Park is great to visit, but Birmingham away has always been "nasty".

    Yep, sounds about right.

Perhaps this is an unrealistically large overhaul of the squad, but strength in depth has clearly been a challenge this year - despite the absolutely brilliant season. I would be expecting Monchi and co will be looking to move 8 out (including loans finishing) and bring 8 in - something like the below. This feels like almost the minimum to compete in league and Europe next season.

    OUT

    Olsson

Carlos (if it makes financial sense)

1 of Moreno/Digne (if it makes financial sense)

    Chambers

    Lenglet

    Hause (is he still here?)

    Tim (loan)

    Zaniolo

Total out of playing squad - 8

    IN

2nd/3rd choice keeper depending on Gauci

4th choice CB in for Carlos

Kosta in as 2nd choice RB - or Kosta out on loan and BIG signing of 1st choice RB with Cash as backup

    LB signing for Moreno/Digne

Back up DM much closer in quality to Kamara

    Extra CM

    Attacking Midfielder/winger extra body

    Archer back

    Total in - 8

Tim needs to he sold not loaned. Ramsey I think may go as Rogers has come in and taken his place, plus we have Buendia coming back.

Luiz may go too and I would accept offers for Duran.

So we would need to replace Dougie and find a good 2nd striker, but would have 100 mil in sales from those few players alone. Plus the sales you mentioned.

Thats without spending our own cash which will be boosted by CL money.

    Should be a good summer.

  11. Not sure why anyone ever rated this guy but I don't watch the U23's so must have been decent there.

He certainly hasn't shown anything for the first team.

Needs to drop down a couple of divisions and then I'm sure he can make a decent career.

If we can get 2 or 3 million for him then all the better, but there's no way he will be staying as he isn't remotely good enough.

(As is shown by Unai's unwillingness to play him)

We could still make it over the line without winning any of our games.

Draw at Brighton, beat Liverpool and it's all over for sure. Couldn't care less what happens at Palace then as it'll be all about resting players for the final. ;)

Might be able to make Brighton if all goes well...

I wouldn't risk him if he is touch and go. We are more than capable of picking up a result at Brighton without him, and a point will probably he enough.

Rather have him fully fit for the semi and final, plus the last 2 games of the season, instead of taking risks with his injury.

You can get a calendar year table on Transfermarkt. Injuries and suspensions plus a volume of games, have definitely impacted us; we're barely a top 6 team by the time all games are played.

Bournemouth's PPG since they won their first game (week 10 I think), would be enough to challenge for fifth.

    A very useful resource

That table shows what an amazing result it was at Arsenal. The only game they've lost this year!

They'll pay him a fortune, I just don't think they need to pay Liverpool a fortune to get him, in some ways they'll be glad to get him off the wage bill.

They won't let him go cheaply. And certainly not free.
