We got 25 points from the first half of the season, if we copy that in the second half of the season we end up with 50 points.

But all 19 of those matches will be managed by Emery, so it isn’t unreasonable to expect more from the second half of the season.

If we continue the same form from the 6 first matches under Emery:
    (13 points / 6 matches ) * 19 remaining matches = 41 points, giving a total of 66 points.

I admire the optimism but I think it's dangerously misguided. I believe it is in fact, totally unreasonable to expect that we will win 4 and lose just 1 out of every 6 games, just because that's how we started under him.

This is not his side and although he has come in and improved us, we have also been knocked out of 2 cup competitions in that time, one of them at home to a League 2 side.

We were poor last night, as we were against Wolves for the most part. That's 3 home games in a row where we haven't been very good.

We will get better, of that I am sure, but there's no way we are going to finish on 66 points and I think it's wise to temper the expectations.

As I say, 52 to 55 points is where I see us and that would be an improvement.

Next season, however, is a different story.

I wish you'd stop coming on here now spouting the same bollox game after game. You're becoming very boring.

After every game its moan, moan moan like a little bitch.  Either Traore, Bailey, Buendia you just moan about everything.

Agree with most of that but I thought Traore was anonymous today tbf.

  3. I don't think Digne would start even if he was fit. Moreno was bought for a reason.

2-0 Villa and into the top half before the well deserved warm weather training in Dubai after losing to Stevenage. (Im clearly still pissed of about that)

Had to take my blood pressure pill at the end there. 😂 Why do we always have to win the hard way?

Emery is like that though. It's not pretty, but it works. 13 from 18 given who have played is bloody amazing.

Beat Southampton and we have a chance to go for a top half finish. Great win.

Bailey I agree, he’s been terrible, but I think Buendia still has a place in this side.

Yep. I like Emi and think he will improve. He is always busy and we looked brighter whenever he came on for Coutinho under Gerrard.

Huge fan base? The met area has a population of 280,000 and most of em that can must be going there as it is. Coventry has a similar size fan base, Newcastle's chances of increasing their support in the local area is pretty limited.

That's just blatantly not true. Same size fan base as Coventry? I don't even know how to respond to that. Newcastle have fans all over the world, like we do, and they get 55,000 a week as it is.

They will attract a hell of a lot more fans now that they are shoe ins for European football and competing for trophies every year.

Coventry are a tiny tin pot club with several other larger clubs nearby. They aren't on the same planet as Newcastle, Villa, Leeds etc in terms of fan base.

Kamara had 6 appearances for marseille at this age

Well then let's see how long before Carney is the best player on the park every week for Chelsea. My guess is he won't be and he will end up at QPR or somewhere similar.

    Yeah I'm the same

    But I still think they'll finish 5th or 6th

The PL has a wonderful way of being "exciting" because someone is up there challenging for the top 4 and then come may its the usual faces

Leicester and West ham have both been where Newcastle are in the last few years and both fell short, the big boys will get their shit together and catch them

Maybe this season they will be caught, but they are the richest club in the world with a huge fan base and a big stadium. It's a matter of time now and very different to the Leicester and West Ham challenges.

I do agree that they may not finish top 4 this season.

Boubacar Kamara hasnt scored a goal either for us and played more minutes. Goals isnt what you base centre midfielders on

How much did Kamara cost us? Also, I go to every Villa game hone and away and Kamara stands out every single week as being the best player in our team and often, the best on the park. Carney has NEVER done that once on any game I have seen him in.

Because you're looking at his price tag rather than his age

Literally no one else in his age group is playing any PL football and you're using goal stats and starts to criticise him?

No, I'm using stas, performances, price tags and other factors. I really don't rate him at all. And, as he plays for Chelsea, I am pleased about that.
